I have to say, I haven't been here in years and the food is still amazing. The atmosphere is great, very old school sit down Chinese restaurant. The noodles were crispy and large, they still put both duck sauce and hot mustard on the table as well as a pot of tea. I had the General Tso's lunch special and the chicken was perfect, very flavorful, the fried rice was good also. Enough food for a second meal to take home. The staff member who answered the phone told me he didn't know if it was ready yet and put me on hold. After waiting on hold for almost 5 minutes I called again and this time the same staff member told me to come inside to see if the order was ready! My husband and I always have Peking Duck for Christmas lunch while watching, "A Christmas Story". I thought after moving from Manhattan to Long Island I would have an extremely difficult time finding a new place to get our Peking Duck that was on par with the ones we had from John's Shanghai. I called around and found out that Kirin China makes them. And do they ever!!!!!! You have to order in advance but OMG it was sooooo worth it! It makes up for the wontons a million-fold! The gentleman that I placed the entire order with was incredibly polite, courteous, and professional. Finding a decent Chinese place can be surprisingly hard in this area. I never have actually gone in, but delivery is fast, convenient (you can use your debit card) and the food arrives piping hot and quickly. Even in snow. I got a combination dinner, hot and sour soup was spot on. Ordered chicken with garlic sauce, Delish! My totally to go to Chinese place on Long Island for delivery. Now, I am a city girl, so I miss Wo Hop and the likes but this is always a good time, except once when it was truly crappy. The eggdrop soup is flavourful, their wontons aren't as doughy as other LI places and the service is fast. Moo shu shrimp is fun, but they don't ever give enough hoisin, the butterfly shrimp is yummy (although I do wish they wouldn't have so many onions and give other veggies), the egg foo young is fluffy with a great brown gravy and their fried rice is the real deal sodium happiness with a hint of smokiness that doesn't say burnt but says this is true wok cooking. We love you long time, Kirin China! P.S. it says "China" for a reason ,so don't go ordering sushi and expect great things. Its pretty fresh but mediocre at best. read more

Upon walking in, you think you just set foot inside a lotto store complete with quick pick screens all over the dining room. Having said that, the food here is really good. Ordered the dinner special for two which is a good bargain. Started with an okay of a tad salty wonton soup followed by a tasty and not greasy egg roll. Ordered two dishes from side A (it's $1.75 extra of you order two of sides A or B instead of one each but what ever). The chicken in garlic sauce was really flavorful and the pressed duck was crispy and tasty as well and not as salty as some other places. The fried rice on the side was very good as well. Plus the portions are really large so for $40 with drinks it's a good value. Service was a tad slow but courteous and it's reasonably priced. Would come back next time I'm in the area and recommend this place especially if you like playing lotto while you eat. read more

An old standby. Standard Chinese and sushi. Super consistent. Strong cheap drinks, quick draw lottery and inexpensive good food. We get the same cranky waitress whenever we go in. We love her and won her over. It took 2 years. They always have everything on their huge menu. Sushi is fresh and well made. We can spend 2 hours here having fun and nibbling. Rarely crowded but were never alone in the restaurant. If you're in the area go try kirin and order a zombie. It's not a place trying to be something its not. Two words sum up the food here: bland and over cooked. We used to go to Tangs which recently closed so we figured we would try something else in the neighborhood. I really regret it. The hot and sour soup barely lives up to the name and all of the vegetables were cooked to a mush. If I thought it would have made a difference, I would have brought their slop back to them in the trash bag it belongs in. The sesame chicken is made from, some part of the chicken, but it is definitely not breast meat (that is when I could find a piece that wasn't completely fried dough with no chicken in it). I threw the entire thing out and made eggs. The fried rice was more like boiled in disgusting. I have no idea what they put in the egg rolls. This was the most abysmal experience I have ever had for Chinese food.
