Seth the project manager was incredibly disrespectful and rude throughout the project, not fixing mistakes, not respecting our requests, etc. He lost all his workers during our project, and ended up with workers that were NOT experienced towards the end to put in our fence, you can already tell how that turned out.

The sloping wall seen in these picture is the result of the contractor not compacting the backfill before installing the steps. I incorrectly assumed that a company involved with this type of work would have known to do this step. I guess they saved $100 on a compactor equipment rental on a $15k job. The fact that they didn't appear to own any of the equipment they used should have been a sign that they don't normally do this type of work. Anyway if you want the job done right, probably best to go with a competitor, oftentimes low bid is not the best value.

We hired A-1 Stone to remove the concrete driveway and retaining wall, and then to rebuild the driveway with pavers and the retaining wall with concrete blocks. Additionally, proper drainage was installed behind the retaining wall. The work was performed by the company's owner, Paul Singh, along with two of his employees. Remarkably, A-1 Stone completed all the work in just three days, and the results are excellent. Everything looks great, and Paul and his team were a pleasure to work with. I would definitely consider contracting them again. I do have two (minor) recommendations for A-1 Stone to improve: Website Improvement: The company's website is somewhat lacking. It's difficult to see examples of their work or to assess their experience with specific types of projects. A portfolio showcasing past work would be very beneficial. Product Variety: The selection of colors and products they offered was rather limited. Other companies provided brochures featuring a range of stone colors and types, while A-1 Stone only offered a single option for our retaining wall: grey concrete blocks. Overall, it was a relief to work with A-1 Stone. They completed the job efficiently with great results, and there were no hassles or problems. Furthermore, both Paul and his employees spoke English, which made communication much easier, especially since many contractors employ workers who only speak Spanish or Portuguese.

I am filled with remorse that I pushed my fella to pay this company to work in our yard. Each day he came home from work & was immediately angry. The crew were not executing as discussed. Each day my fella felt obligated to become the "general" on this job, outlining concerns, expressing expectations, offering use of OUR lazer level to ensure this is done BETTER than we could have done ourselves. Each following day, instead of relief that we had gotten on the same page, he would find yet another disconnect between expectation/agreed to processes, & further fear that we had made a bad decision here. Jeff is a very nice man. He listens to your concerns. He tells you he will make it right, even if HE PERSONALLY has to come help. However that doesn't actually occur. In the end, after all the funds were spent, we ended up with SEVERAL ugly surface drains (where there used to be none), far less topsoil than agreed to, a hardpan that was never dug down deep enough, nor properly graded & ultimately the job failed... the yard was now WORSE than before SLS started. Add to this, our backyard never got proper topsoil depth, our sand pit was filled with borderline gravel NOT sand, & we did not get the drawings/map for our irrigation system as promised. We hoped that things would "settle" eventually, even waited several months to be sure of drainage failure before expressing upset & insisting on remedy. We were promised that would happen in spring. We waited and heard nothing about starting the job/remedy. At this point, devastated at having thrown huge money away (excess of 10k)& watching my husband's face as he accepted that we are in fact going to have to SPEND more, & do it over again, I went over Jeff's head to the owner. They were ONLY willing to offer SOME dirt, & seed. They would not bring their machines over. They would not refund. As you can imagine, my husband was NOT willing to have the crew come back & attempt to do the work correctly, there was no reason to believe it would go differently. Now, after literally taking a full week off from work, & spending literally over 5k MORE, my fella has the front yard corrected. He did EXACTLY what we asked for, agreed to, & paid for, but NEVER GOT. We have pics to document that this is all true, as well as receipts for all of this. We tried so hard to make this a mutually beneficial experience. We hoped so much to sing SLS praises & continue referring them going forward. Sadly, now I warn against them. I lost a friendly connection that I valued & lost clients DESPITE never dropping the ball on my end of the professional exchange. No Good Deed Goes Un-Punished :(

Do not fall for his references like we did. Do not give him any advance upfront. His license is expired as of Sept 2025. We contracted Dio on June 18th 2025 for two bath renovation project at our home after a sincere referral. His appetite to extract money out of us became evident from the get-go. Once he gets the advance and does an incomplete demolition, he asks for 2nd installation. Reaching him on call or text was a pain thereafter. I ended up being the project manager/coordinator working with the labor, plumber, electrician, tiler etc. He lies through his teeth. he lies about pricing and will take extra money from you. For e.g., he asked $350 for a window worth $119 and when confronted would just laugh. Incompetent and insincere - forgets about original project plans and makes mistakes then asks for more money to repair those mistakes. Orders incorrect tiles, incorrect cabinets. (After 2.5 months of excuses, lies and fake tears Dio absconded with money without paying labor, electrician, tiler etc. I felt terrible for them as they were equally scammed. They quickly packed their tools and took off when they realized they were not going to see any money. THE AFTERMATH: 1. Lost money to Dio + lost money with suppliers: All the places where we had paid for material such as Cabinets, Tiles that exclusively work with contractors refused to release the material that WE PAID FOR with our credit card because Dio wasn't there for pick up. We lost thousands of dollars there. 2. Still incomplete project: We are still living this nightmare as any new person who we called for quote to finish the remaining work is also taking advantage of our situation and quoting ridiculous amount of money. We will need to take out loan to pay such amounts. 3. There is so much waste he left behind that we now need to pay to get rid of. Even more loss. 4. Not worth the stress: The constant stress working with Dio since day 1 is not worth saving a couple of thousand dollars. I ended up spending money at the doctors due to all the health woes that come with stress. The state laws do not support consumers and thus allows for such scammers to continue their nasty work. This experience has left our house in a mess and with both our baths incomplete we are at our wits end. We are rebuilding from this slowly and hindsight is 20-20. As we connect all the dots, Dionicio was always planning to take off with money. Each week we hear more homes around us that he took advance from and ran off. I'm sharing my experience in full honesty here so that it benefits others. Not only will you lose money, but you will also lose your peace of mind and health working with this scammer.

It had been about 5 months since it was initially landscaped so our grass was about a 1.5ft long and weeds were rampant! It was very easy to set up a time for Alex to come out and quote the property and he immediately scheduled our property with no problem. My neighbor and I each got quotes with my neighbor's quote from a competing landscaping business being THREE times as high (because they quoted 4 hours of work). Florentino Quintana was able to take care of our property in only 1 hour. It looks fantastic now! Yard waste disposal was included in the quote so we paid exactly what was quoted. My neighbor's competing quote had an undefined "yard waste" disposal amount so who knows how much they would have charged us!
