I have been watching KIRO news in the evening for years. The news has been mostly mayhems in the greater puget sound area. There is not any news worthy. I don't get educated by watching the news. Here is the list of things I have observed: The newer news anchors are talking faster. More boobs are showing to grab attention. Their attires tend to enhance the boobs. I like the weather man Palmer. He is professional and speaks in a normal tone. His sidekick weather woman talks so fast as if she is going to miss her plane. She makes my head spin. Evening is supposed to be a relax time without the alcohol. I decided to listen to NPR in the evening to catch up the financial market and the local and world news instead. read more

Monique Ming Laven was reporting tonight on the 14 year old West African young girl Maryam who is missing. However, she called the young girl a "young woman". This precious child is a young girl and for Monique to call her a young woman is just perpetuating the narrative of young black girls and boys as not seen as youth but seen as adults. By calling our children adults when they are still children makes it easier for the racists and bigots and people in general to have less empathy and compassion for our black children. This has been done as long as the news has been reported; designed to perpetuate the negative stereotypes of black children as being adults. Shame on you and Kiro 7. You must do better and report what is true when describing black youth . read more

JP Patches ruled the KIRO TV morning airwaves for decades. If you were a real Seattle local child growing up in the 50's, 60's, 70's & 80's you'd remember him and the gang. Annually you'd be to see if your birthday was gonna be called out on air or if Boris S Wart the second meanest man in the world would make an appearance. Miss Smiths delivery service would deliver packages. The ICUTV set was what is what I always wanted. I could go on and on but those who knew of JP loved him dearly. And let's not forget Gertrude his cross dressing partner in crime. Also back in the 70's you also had NIGHTMARE THEATER with The Count. Like clock work on late night Saturdays he would rise from his coffin to show scary movies to his fans. Always scared me but kept watching. As for KIRO today well it's your CBS affiliate and provides local programming & news. Well I hope this was rewarding for you. And yes I'm a Boris Buddy! read more

Although their App seems to work most of the time, which not all News Apps can say that as a true streaming live news like app. We really hate the newsy style (click on each story). Complaints. 1) CBS really seems biased to the left and we don't see both sides to the story as you would on fox. 2) Every night they seem to repeat the exact same subjects night after night - it feels like they just don't have enough news? thx read more

I listen to their broadcast for news 4-5 times a week which makes me a customer. I listen to news, weather, good morning programs and of course commercials. This makes me a customer. I called them thsi week as they missed a coverage which I thought was important. I got a follow up call and they went after the story- which is big. Manythanks. read more

This review is for their coverage of Cooper Dyson's Memorial Service on December 30th of last year. Which of course was a huge loss of Seattle and even the Pierce County Police Department, as well as a loss to me and my family. A young man that lost his life in a car accident on December 21st at the age of 25, while racing to help his fellow police officers, who had responded first to a domestic violence call. And this station took the time to show coverage of the ride to the Tacoma Dome, and then the full coverage of his Memorial Service. As it was on tv, and also online at their website as well, as to where I saw the coverage of the Memorial Service. And if I could Iv would like to thank the station's management for carrying live the Memorial Service for him. read more

Claire, the weather gal, is fairly accurate with forecasts, but needs to stop moving like a robot. Very stiff and tight movement.

Fake news regarding WA unemployment. Believe me I know. This shitty news station should highlight the lives WA State Unemployment has ruined through criminal negligence practiced while processing unemployment claims and reporting false stat on backlogged cases. It's a shame, I will no longer watch this station, especially J Jones, their "awesome" investigative reporter. What a joke . . . read more

My biggest complaint is their closed captioning system. It is soooooo far out of sync that it is almost useless. Can it be fixed????

I'm a fan during the week but when they have Penny LeGate on during the week or on the weekend, I change the channel. She is constantly tongue-tied. To me, she lowers the integrity of the news. Get her off the air Please!! That's my only complaint. I think they are the best with covering all areas locally. read more

In the annals of Zen programming, KIRO's new Airport Cam rates with the best of 'em. And unlike the Yule Log, Puppy Bowl, and Weather Channel, it doesn't stoop to fancy shenanigans like sound, seasonal programming, rotating camera angles, or updates on the eights. The airport cam is just an oddly riveting, single-angle feed of Sea-Tac's pick-up and drop-off zones. On a clear day, it's mildly interesting--maybe even useful--but wet nights are its glory. Rain on the camera lens smears buildings into phosphorescent puddles as road lights boogie to weird electric riffs. It's a blissed-out aqua-and-fire abstract: not terribly informative for the would-be traveler, but remarkably soothing for the late-night worker. Watch it while listening to KEXP's Jazz Oasis for double-plus joy. Update 3/19/07: A new camera angle for the airport cam novelly fails to show airport at all. Instead focuses on Space Needle, which, despite what you might guess, does not take off or land at regular intervals. Docked one star. Currently, the cam runs 24x7. When the news finally hits the app, it's good but they are terrible with updating news as it happens or following up on stories. It's 7:50pm and the major pedestrian bridge that collapsed in Miami that killed 4 isn't posted in the app. Poor updating and news coverage for sure. read more

KIRO's "Eyewitness News" journalists provide a very solid level of professionalism and thoroughness in reporting the news. KIRO's local news coverage is particularly valued since the local print news media have lost most of their influence and impact in recent years. Something I wanted to specifically thank KIRO-TV is one of only two Seattle network affiliate stations (KCPQ Q13/Fox is the other) which attempts to serve geographically-challenged communities around Puget Sound via low-power digital TV "repeater" stations. KIRO operates repeater stations in Issaquah, Olympia, Mt. Vernon and Port Angeles, bringing not only their local news coverage but also network programs from CBS and from the "GetTV" syndication service. Other than KCPQ, the Seattle ABC and NBC affiliates make no attempt to provide over-the-air reception to the four communities where KIRO has a local over-the-air presence. I presume that the ABC and NBC affiliates assume that "everyone subscribes to cable or satellite" and simply don't care. Kudos to KIRO for having a local OTA presence in Issaquah, Olympia, Mt. Vernon and Port Angeles! Free local broadcast TV is a good thing! read more

For awhile there I was afraid I'd turn into my mother, but when I stopped watching KOMO just because my parents did every night of my life and tuned into KIRO it was a relief. KIRO always seems to scoop the other statiions with breaking news and even though my favorite weatherman is still on KOMO, this is the station I get my news from. I get breaking news online too, and they email it FASTER THAN CNN! read more

Love! Trust them with my source of news. I used to just read the newspaper, but that John Knicely and short haired Michelle always provide me the most thorough and thought provoking news. My husband and I just purchased a new big screen, High Def TV and watched KIRO news for the first time on Easter Sunday .... WOW! The new set is amazing and they had new anchors named Monique and Chris who just popped out of the set at you. I haven't watched much local news lately, everyone seems either old and boring or young and inexperienced. I am really impressed with the talent at KIRO and the HD looks amazing! read more

Where the heck is Penny Legate? She is the only newscaster that seems authentic in Seattle. Her no-nonsense style has been refreshing and to the point. I especially appreciate her confidence and ability to not get rattled by the many newcomers who have been paraded on the news lately. Have you seen her travel blog? This gal is so focused on worldwide community service and sharing the work of volunteers in places like Vietnam and Nepal, it is mind-blowing and inspirational! read more
