Coming up on March 8- the international Women's Day event! iHeartMedia in CT goes out to about 2.1 million listeners. Pretty big reach. We are recording segments with local Connecticut women-owned businesses this week that will air soon. I will share a link here when they are available. Some people don't like National Public Radio - but they always have some pretty interesting things on, and if it isnt something I care to listen to its not so hard to put my iPod on. On the way home from work its always something different, sometimes its something i can listen to.On Wednesdays if I am lucky I work late and get to catch Fusion Radio on the way home - James is bangin! .. The ARRL is an amateur radio hobby organization that represents all amateur radio hobbyists. I've…read morebeen an Annual Member since '05, and Life Member since '23. They publish magazines, annual handbooks, textbooks, test materials and educational materials. They also do a lot of lobbying and moving and shaking with the FCC. They also sell a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff on the website. Lots of controversy with the CEO, and raising annual dues along with charging extra for the printed copy of the magazine. It is a layered organization with a lot of positions and titles, just like the Freemasons... is it all really needed? The main magazine QST is ok, I'd give it a 2 out of 5 stars. Lots of pseudo-technical articles written by folks who are not necessarily educated electrical engineers, but they hold an amateur license; QST has product reviews and obituaries with lots and lots of advertising. If you've read one QST, you've read them all. The League has their main office down in Newington, Connecticut. I've been twice, back in '06 and '14. They have a little display in the lobby, before the Centennial in '14 they'd give you tours. Now they don't. There is a brick building where you can operate ham radio. Technology, consumerism, and lack of interest has turned ham radio into an obsolete and dying hobby. That said, if it's your hobby, a trip to The League is a place to see... once. BT AR DE ####

The American Radio Releay League, ARRL, is the national membership association for Amateur Radio operators. It is a not-for-profit organization which promotes interest in Amateur Radio communications and experimentation, represents US radio amateurs in legislative matters, and maintains fraternalism and a high standard of conduct among Amateur Radio operators. And now onto my review... I've had limited contact with the ARRL. Most of the times I contacted them were about joining or renewing my membership. I will say that this organization has a lot of excellent people working for them. I have always had excellent customer service and very polite and helpful service. I would recommend this organization as well as this organization's books to anyone who is interested in becoming an Amateur Radio Operator, or is an Amateur Radio Operator.
