    French toast with bacon

Despite this place being located in the middle of a completely run down, broken glass filled parking lot, the interior of the restaurant is filled with a really nice, rustic charm. I tried out their French Toast with bacon and their crepes. The bacon was quite bad. They used a lemon flavored bread for their French Toast which I wasn't a huge fan of. The crepes were also nothing special. The place was fairly busy so service wasn't on point. Pretty much an average experience all throughout.

A cozy rustic diner with an admittedly slightly run-down appearance. The food was delicious and served in good portions. The mini muffin basket was a particularly noteworthy signature item.

Dined-6.15.24: Been here a couple of times as I love breakfast & this is local spot that hits the spot! My cousin had a turkey sandwich that came w/ a side of potato salad and I had the New Orleans Cajun Omelete. It's a hearty serving, I definitely was able to take 1/2 of it home as well as some of the taters. Staff are always so friendly & when my toast came out extra crispy our server mentioned it and immediately worked on getting me another order of toast. Food is good, made to order & they also sell homemade baked goods, jam & doggie treats. Been here before & will definitely be back!

This restaurant is uniquely flavored with homemade freshness you can taste. We have been regulars for many years. It has an antique store decor & most of the decor is for sale. The service is amazing. Gwen was our server today and boy is she on top of things. Kudos to her for being amazing at her job. We also love Susan she's great too. The flavored coffee of the day changes so make sure you give it a taste. Pie's are available for pick up with one days notice. The mini muffins are the best. They also have different flavors so check availability. May this family owned restaurant continue to service the community for many more years to come. Thank you

What an uplifting down home experience. This space has been welcoming restaurant with home style cooking for several years. We were graciously welcomed with a flavored coffee or regular coffee- both were very good. Food was well prepared and served warm and again with smiles. Service was excellent. I am a fan of supporting small businesses especially when the service and food is great!!

Have passed by the restaurant for years and decided to try it for an early weekday breakfast. Place has a country antique vib. Ordered eggs, breakfast potatoes and bacon. They provide a basket with a variety of small baked muffins. Service was good, coffee was hot and breakfast was tasty. The bacon was thick cut and a pleasant surprise. Good choice for breakfast and a step back in time.

Good food and service. We arrived just before the midmorning rush. I had oatmeal with a side of bacon. The oatmeal was freshly cooked just right and hot. Husband had the eggs Benedict which he rated very good. The zucchini muffins were a tasty treat.

Oops, no more muffins in the Muffin Basket. They were bran, spice and chocolate chip.

Kiss the Cook is a Glendale institution in the finest sense of the word. In addition to what I consider excellent meals, KtC is s visual salute to Glendale's rural past plus trinkets, collectibles, big lollipops and home made dog cookies are for sale. The women at KtC bring their own brand of Country Funk, from, "What plate do I get this meal?" to the muffinette paper and empty creamer/sweetener bucket on each table. I cannot leave out the Kiss every customer gets before they leave. If you've not been you msy ask, "What's a muffinette? It's several varieties of one ounce muffins served for breakfast or bought and taken home. Unlike the large, delicious sugar shedding cinnamon rolls one can order for a meal. My Dad's Mom left Dalhart, Texas; Clayton, New Mexico; and Ponca City, Oklahoma vowing never to get worked to death ss s rancher or farmer's wife. But she cooked like the ranch eomsn she was raised to be. Whether a bowl of oatmeal. eggs taters, toast and crisp bacon, muffinettes enjoyed with coffee from a clear glass cup with clouds of half and half drifting from coffee surface to cup bottom, I am very comfortable with the food here. We eat here nearly every week. And bring family.

Ask the Community - Kiss the Cook Restaurant

    What's served for breakfast?

The waitress said they are known for their pancakes, Benedicts, and omelettes. I would also suggest the homemade pecan cinnamon roll. The lunch menu is mostly burgers, sandwiches, and other traditional options.

    Where's the breakfast menu?

Checkout the pictures ... there is a section labeled menu and a picture of both breakfast and lunch are posted there. I suggest the homemade pecan cinnamon roll!!

The music was Bad Bunny themed on this Saturday so we all got our dance on. I enjoyed the huge breakfast burrito, it was full of deliciousness, papas, eggs, pico and Chipotle sauce. My wife enjoyed her waffle with everything in the side and they offered softened butter. The endless mimosas were $25 per person and it was definitely worth it. We requested a watermelon sauce in the side and it was a $1. We all left happy full and with good energy.

A week…read morebefore our trip, I made a reservation for a coworker's going-away dinner while several of us were in town from across the country. Based on the photos online, it looked like the perfect place for our group to gather. I confirmed my reservation through both the email and text reminders. On the day of our reservation, another partner agency happened to be in town and wanted to join us. Since the website wouldn't let me modify the reservation, I called four times after they opened to see if I could add a few more people. Unfortunately, no one ever answered the phone. We decided to arrive early and ask in person. The Service When we arrived, the restaurant was absolutely packed. The hostess told us we were welcome to walk through the bar to see if we could find a table ourselves, but that they were extremely busy and likely wouldn't have anything available. After looking around, we came back and asked if the patio was an option since the misters made it surprisingly comfortable despite the Arizona heat. We were told the patio was for reservations only. When I reminded the hostess that we had a reservation, the explanation suddenly changed to, "We're on an event menu tonight." She handed me the menu while I stood at the host stand, walked away, and never really explained what that meant for our reservation or whether we would actually be seated. When she returned, instead of offering a wait time or another solution, she suggested we try Thirsty Lion down the sidewalk instead. At that point, it became clear that our reservation wasn't going to be honored. Parting Thoughts I completely understand that restaurants get busy, especially during major events. What disappointed me wasn't the crowd--it was having a confirmed reservation, receiving multiple confirmation requests, making several unanswered phone calls beforehand, and ultimately being left without a table or a meaningful explanation.

We both loved the food! Since it was a Sunday, I knew it'd be busy. I figured it'd be a good idea to check whether Hash Kitchen offers a way to join the waitlist online. Luckily, they do! I joined ahead of time and we arrived about 30 minutes later. While there were tons of people waiting for a table outside, our table was ready within minutes of us checking in. We were promptly seated and our waitress did not take long to take our order. I wasn't sure how long the wait would be after ordering, but it was surprisingly quick considering how busy they were. We ordered the Boujee Biscuits to share. Those were delicious! It comes with three kinds of butter, but my favorite was the salted caramel one. We also each ordered the Best F#*%ing Birria Hash and shared a stack of the Buttermilk Pancakes. Everything was so good, but I especially loved the Birria Hash. Once we finished eating, I was able to pay by scanning a QR code on our table, which was really convenient. I can truly say we had a great experience.

Even after joining the waitlist, you still have to check in with the hostess upon arrival, and there may still be an additional wait. When we arrived, we were told it would be about a 20-minute wait for a table, or we could sit at the bar. We chose the bar, but honestly, we wish we had waited for a table because the bar area felt a bit tight. The bartenders were very nice, but at times it seemed like they were a bit overwhelmed, as we had to wave them down a few times for assistance. One highlight was the live DJ--the music selection was great and really added to the overall atmosphere. For food, we ordered the Basic AF and the chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, the food temperature was disappointing. The waffles were cold, and most of the Basic AF dish was cold as well, except for the eggs. The only item that was warm on my plate was the chicken. This is definitely something that should be improved--breakfast dishes should be served hot and fresh. For drinks, we ordered a Bloody Mary and wanted to add a mini Miller High Life, but they were out of stock, which was disappointing. Instead, we opted for a Corona, which felt overpriced at $7 for a single bottle--especially when it's being used as an add-on. A lower price point would feel more reasonable in that situation. On a positive note, I also ordered the Boozy Bag drink with a watermelon slice, and it was absolutely delicious--definitely a highlight of the visit. The restaurant does offer a good amount of outdoor seating with shade coverings, which is great for avoiding the sun. Inside, especially near the bar, you can hear the music much better, but it's still audible outside depending on where you sit. Our total bill for two came to about $70, so it's something to plan for in terms of pricing. One additional suggestion: we did notice bartenders and staff handling drink garnishes--such as fruit and decorative items like cotton candy--with their bare hands. For hygiene and cleanliness purposes, it would be highly recommended for staff to use gloves or some type of protective covering when preparing drinks, especially since these items go directly into customer beverages. Overall, we enjoy the vibe and energy here, but consistency with food temperature and attentiveness during busy times would really improve the experience. Also, it looks like they offer a rewards program that requires linking a credit card--we're not fully sure how it works, but it might be worth asking about for future visits.
