This museum manages to straddle the line skillfully between boring local exhibits, and exhibits with worldwide relevance. Upon entering are massive, ancient actual petroglyphs from the area, alas they didn't allow photography. The rest of the place they did an excellent job of relating what could have ended up boring local displays, intotopics of wider interest, such as various coal mine explosions, and the state 'gem', petrified wood. I wish I could have taken pictures, you'll just have to spend time here yourself. Here is what I did get a picture of: from the giftshop. Admission is free, donations are welcome, a fun way to spend a Saturday morning.

However, Shout out to Republican candidates, a lecture on why we needed to stand for the National Anthem, praise to a Christian God do not belong at a rodeo! The pre-rodeo performances of Yakama Nation and encouragement for others to join the dancers was a great way to start the event. Unfortunately the lectures, prayers, and political statements were not appreciated by people sitting in my section of the grandstand. The athletes were top-notch, pace of rodeo brisk and field crew efficient. The announcer left much to be desired as he seemed to think it was his bully pulpit rather than a rodeo. This will be my last for a long time.

Upon entering your greeted by a western theme and town front that includes a delightful bar with stereotypical swinging doors as well as a nice coffee shop to caffeinate before watching the main event. Your ticket get you into the fair which is going on at the same time. Well it's not giant, there's plenty to keep you busy including a lot of different food options. Our favorite was the log of fries! It sounds like it might be gross, and from a health standpoint it is, but from a delicious salty grease standpoint it's quite incredible! It was something like five dollars and it said six adults as a side item very easily. We also enjoyed a smoke pork sandwich as well as some of the barbecue sandwiches available. Both of those options were located at the far end of the food court area, but were definitely worth the trip. The rodeo was a lot of fun, though you should make sure to situate yourself in a place where you can see the scoreboard. The speaker is hanging over the arena were right in the middle of our vision and I made it a little harder to follow along. Also, word to the wise, start heading in fairly early. The line into the rodeo got very long very quickly and didn't move very fast. All in all, a great experience and something that's well worth doing, if only to check out bull riding one time. You'll be glad you did!
