My boyfriends mother is finally finishing her rehabilitation at Klinik Schloss Mammern. I say finally like she's been here a long time, but in reality is has only been about 3 or 4 weeks. This location has only become public within the past year, before that it was private. When I first arrived here I thought it was a joke, seriously, the place is too perfect! I thought it was only for people who pay the big big bucks or royalty or something. But no, this is a public physical therapy clinic. Mammern is about a 40 minute drive from Zurich and 30 minutes from Schaffhausen. The town is very small, but the place is situated right on the lake and it's absolutely beautiful. When you first walk in (the doors open for you) it's as if you're entering an old, beautiful mansion. The initial walkway is gorgeous and entirely open. The whole wall is glass so you can see outside to the lake, and if you want to walk outside the glass doors will open for you. You can enter the main building to your left and the dining room is also on the left. There you will find the reception and an elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor. We would always walk up the stairs. Upstairs seemed almost like a castle. There were large, glamorous chairs and a massive decorated rug adorning the entire floor. His mother had a large room to herself, with breakfast, lunch, and a four course dinner every day. She also received a weekly schedule so guests knew when she was busy (doing cardio workouts, blood tests etc.) and when they could visit her. Out back they have a lovely walkway along the lake and around the center. It's absolutely beautiful (I wonder how many more times I'll say that). It's great that they make the places as lovely as they do. Obviously, it's very difficult for anyone to be away from home for such a long time, and they do a great job of trying to make the experience as easy as possible. They do not have free wifi, however, but that's quite a small issue when everything else is SO BEAUTIFUL and awesome.
