I booked a service with KM Heating and Cooling for my Bonaire ducted heater, which occasionally required a power cycle to start. The unit is under the house. The technician, Josh, provided an absurd diagnosis, claiming that repositioning the switch would resolve the issue because my body heat near the unit was somehow affecting it. This explanation is utterly nonsensical and demonstrates a lack of expertise. Not only was the call-out fee very priced, but the service was also unprofessional and ineffective. Beware - claim to quality and reliability (from their website) will come at a cost with nothing to show for !!! Engaged KM Heating and Cooling on 26 Dec to fix a leaking Evap system (one of very few companies that was open over the holiday season - we needed system fixed before forecast hot days). Quoted $285 call out fee. On arrival on the 27th of Dec, advised additional $45 (excl GST) fee to clean the unit. Paid $363 incl GST in cash for the day - Technician didnt have a mobile EFTPOS or Credit Card Unit and wanted to pass on my credit card details to HQ which I was not comfortable with. Was advised belt needed replacing + new valve required to make the unit functional. Parts required to be ordered from Sydney or Canberra and was advised would take about a week. Chased up KM Heating / Technician who arrived on the day (Josh) 3 times before a receipt was issued - receipt eventually received on letterhead of another company Blessing Airconditioning & Refrigeration Pty Ltd. Almost 3 weeks and $363 later and after having chased up a few times, unit remained unfixed. Engaged another company - fixed it on their first visit for $220 incl GST (covering call out fee, parts and labour). Parts required = nut and washer, apparently readily available in Melbourne. New belt and valve not required. Have tried contacting them numerous times and via numerous methods (phone, SMS, email, FB) for a refund - no one will return my calls or messages. Will never ever use or recommend this mob. read more

HWS tripped power. Guy attended and replaced Top Elec Cover. Did not install the new cover correctly - made MORE water than ever get in. Did not come back to fix it - well they could, after the weekend! RUDE response was that they are very busy and are a long way away. Fixed it myself. VERY expensive, and shoddy work. What a terrible experience! Cannot talk to someone over the phone I have been advised I can communicate only via e-mail only, extremely rude customer service. Asked for an invoice and didn't get one. I was told the call out was $184 just to check out the problem and quote for any repairs and labour would have been advised but I was charged $250 because labour is to be added (this was not explained at time of booking).No explanation on repairs, just a quote for a replacement for $3000 when the unit itself costs $800 at full RRP!! Terrible company. Frauds - Rip off elderly and disabled! Charged $410 to check and clean a wall heater that by their own bill 'was dusty and has been cleaned and is working properly', but actually seem to have shorted the fan. The heater was working before they came, but it would go out a few times a day, but this company left my elderly parents without a heater at all during this cold snap with no word of when it would be fixed. Get another heating person in to look - nothing wrong, just a pulled wire that happened when KM Heating and Cooling put the heater back together. read more

Absolute Crooks. BEWARE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Charged $1100 to repair our central heating system. Replaced two parts worth the value of $50 (which unfortunately we found out after the fact). Heater stopped working three weeks later with the same issues still existing. Sent out the technician to be told it was a new problem and that we would have to pay for extra parts and labour and that it would not come under warranty. Tried to contact them MANY times via phone and SMS to inform them that we were demanding a refund for their dodgy service, otherwise we would be reporting them to Consumer Affairs etc. Finally received a response which was a very aggressive phone call informing me that I should stop harassing THEM and that they had reported ME to the Police. HA!!! Heater now fixed for $300 by another company and it was confirmed that the parts they supplied were faulty. Currently lodging complaints to every government agency we possibly can. How these criminals are still operating is beyond me. Disgraceful. read more

Terrible. Had a working heater until I paid $258.50. Had them in for a service (clean and check); however they shorted the fan motor, so after the service the fan no longer worked. After 10+ phone calls no one came out to check/rectify. Recommend you avoid unless you want them to break your working unit and pay for the privledge!!!!! read more

Contact KM Heating to come out and fix my ducted heater. Josh came out on 30/5. Looked at the heater serviced it and said he would need to come back. Paid $400 cash and received an invoice. After phoning Josh and the company numerous times, I am still waiting for them to come back to properly fix my heater. All they do is abuse you when you ring up and claim they have never been to the house. DO NOT use this company and their affiliated company - VIP Plumbing Services Melbourne. read more

Was abused and threatened over phone for cancelling the day before a booking as service was no longer required. I was told I still required to pay a call out fee and was not allowed to cancel the booking. I was then told someone would be coming to my property at the original booking time where they would deal with me. I was then verbally abused and threatened. Disgusting way to run a business. Police were notified due to the nature of the threat to my person and property. read more

Least professional company I've had to deal with - heating and cooling were both working prior to servicing, and now after their insanely expensive "service" all the system does is blow cold air. Rang them several times and they refused to return to take a look at it, insisting their job was to "service and not repair". You should probably think about throwing that in as a package deal if you break everything you touch. read more

The technician came out and "fixed and Serviced" our heating system. 2 weeks later exact same issue but stated a different cause this time. Aid it was just the air flow was stopping the pilot light. I reconfirmed that is all it was then he said he could change my thermo something something but it would bw $500. When i enquired does it need changing he said no. I asked why he offered it and he couldnt give anything other then i was asking what was wrong. Then i enquired what he did last time and he told me the thermostat on the wall was broken when i said it wasnt he said oh i cant remember every detail. Showed up 40 minutes late. He used my door as a foot hold instead of getting in the ceiling or even using his ladder. He asked for a new light globe at which i had to remind him he broke last time and we have been unable to get the globe out of the socket due to that (he did not apologise then or now for that) I advised him I will not be paying for this treatment as he is an idiot which he then stopped my heater from working and called me a c#*t twice and left. When I called the company to complain they would not listen to why I wouldn't pay just told me "you stupid bitch I know where you live I will get my money". Have not been able to contact anyone about the terrible service. Save your money don't use this company read more

We contacted Heating Doctor Melbourne about a faulty hydronic heating system. A guy from KM Heating & Cooling Professionals & Plumbers Inc came, presumably subcontractors? They charged us over $400 for the visit, and quoted over $2,000 +GST to do the repair. Said he'd require a 50% deposit to order parts, and could fix the heating in a weeks time. We paid the $400, he left us with the heating system in the same broken condition as when he'd arrived. Despite our outlay, we were suspicious enough to arrange another company to review. They charged $475 for the visit, to assess the issue and repair the problem on the spot. Problem was different to what Heating Doctors / KM Heating & Cooling had diagnosed. They also advised the quote from Heating Doctor Melbourne / KM Heating and Cooling Plumbers was grossly inflated even for the repair they had said needed doing. Absolute thieves the only thing they were missing was their balaclava...We had a cooler unit stop working and it wasn't that old so we got them to come out to fix it. Took him about 5 min to tell me the cooler was burnt out, he then proceeded to quote me on a replacement ($1280), I declined he then gave me a call out bill for $220. We then went to the Good Guys to see about a replacement. Whilst having a chat with the friendly sales guy he tried to sell us the same brand cooler we already had telling us how good they are. we told him that this was the same as the one that we just had, he then suggested to call the manufacture as this was very unusual, we did. The manufacture sent someone out the next day, he had it working in under a minute. In disbelief i asked him what was wrong and he said he just hit the reset button, he told me this is an overload safety device and on occasions will trip due to a power surge. Bloody unbelievable he didn't even charge me. read more
