The workers are kind and sweet, but not as sweet as fresh knafeh, oooooooooooooooooh love the og but the crispy wooooooooo! I ate 3 straight away in my car. Now this is real Middle Eastern dessert. I'm not a fan of knafeh khishneh so I didn't try it but I had the aish el saraya and madlooua. Aish el saraya is a Lebanese dessert that I used to be obsessed with. Madlooua is a Syrian dessert that I tried here for the first time and it's now my favorite dessert of all time. I could truly eat knafeh all day because it's so addicting. I tried knafeh for the first time recently from Knafeh Queens, and the knafeh here is quite different. It is still very delicious though! The flavors are about the same... but instead of a custard-like texture, the knafeh here has a much more cheesy texture like mozzarella. A bit chewy and stretchy. The worker stated that the knafeh was just made fresh 20 minutes ago, but they still microwave it for a few seconds prior to serving. KEEP IN MIND: the staff do not wear masks here and they don't require customers to wear masks either. We also got a frozen tray to bring home ($38) and it tasted almost identical to the fresh one, but the crispy layer isn't crispy when you microwave it at home. read more

I first learned of this dessert being sold in the frozen section at Trader Joe's. I bought it cuz the picture & description got me sold! But have not tried it yet. So I started to look for it on IG & that's how I found Knafeh Cafe in OC!! This is my 1st time having Knafeh especially fresh made & OMG I am in love it! This Middle Eastern dessert is like no other dessert I have ever had. Although the ingredients are simple the flavors are sensational & it fills your mouth with pure joy. This impressive dessert can be served hot or cold. *HINT* Better warm/hot. I had the pleasure of trying both the soft & hard Knafeh. Both were scrumptious & I was in sweet heaven~ The whole thing is sweetened with scented sugar syrup & sprinkled with crushed pistachios. For the SOFT: underneath that delicate crust is an irresistible layer of ooey, gooey, stretchy unsalted cheese. My oh my~! For the HARD: crunchy shredded kataifi dough as the topping baked with a layer of creamy sweet Nabulsi cheese. Yum Yum Yum!! I had leftovers (my parents & I couldn't finish the 1 personal one lol) & was able to savor it the next day by heating up in the microwave for 20-25 seconds. Staff was very friendly & patient. We were able to enjoy our fresh Knafeh & hot cup of Turkish coffee in 1 of their 2 tables outside their store-front. I don't drink black coffee but interestingly I was able to with particular one! Although the coffee was pretty dark but I tasted something fruit-ish. Cream or milk is never added to Turkish coffee, but additional sugar is optional & that is what we did. I think this is by far THE BEST crispy knafeh I've ever had! Perfect ratio of cheese topped with strings of crispy pastry dough and pistachios. The portion size is pretty big too. What I love about this place is how they give you an option of how much simple syrup you want after they warm it up for you (you definitely get that cheese pull btw). With other bakeries, I'm usually not a fan of their knafehs because of the extra syrup they add. If I'm taking it to go, I don't warm it and ask them for the syrup on the side. If you warm and have them add syrup to go, you don't get that taste of crispy pastry dough on top by the time you get home since it gets moist from the syrup. I also tried their original baklava. It was tasty; you get that nuttiness flavor in between the layers of dough. It was a bit too sweet for me because of the already added simple syrup.
