Basically, they sell things for the kitchen, like crockery, cutlery, draining racks, chopping boards, gadgets, and so on. Although the range is not that large - only a few styles of cutlery, for example - they do have lots of useful things, and the store is lovely just to browse around. The place was buzzing with happy shoppers, doing just that. (In marked contrast to the January Sales hell that characterised the rest of Brighton). I have spent hours trying to find an small olive spoon, for example - and they had one, and an olive spear, and a spring-loaded pickle fork, and... We also bought a really large, heavy beech wood chopping board - from a sustainable source - for under £8. Something else that caught my eye were several designs of nice wire draining racks, in bright funky colours - no horrid plastic tat. Oh, and lovely, friendly, helpful staff. I hope they succeed.

Every used game I have bought from here is always good and never let me down although a second hand console did but only after 4years, so I cannot complain. The staff could be a little more cheery which would make me be more happy to part with my hard earned cash. I am so glad they got rid of the fruit machines as I was always tempted by them and often spent more time in the shop playing them.

I found it much easier to wander through the aisles here and appreciate the variety of home and garden items available. There's pretty much every kitchen appliance you could imagine: sandwich makers, mini hotdog grillers, cappacino machines and even the allusive filter coffee maker, crock pots, kettles, toasters and a cotton candy machine! Wowy. That one's even on offer. Kitchen stuff also includes dishware, utensils, and a few kitschy items like Sergeant Pepper and Corporal Salt. Homewear then moves into tools, paint and hardware as well as an aisle of household cleaners and a few electronics: telephones, keyboards, USB drives and a small selection of printers (like, two.) For gardeners, Robert Dyas has tools in a variety of styles, plus a huge display of seeds. The prices of everything are really reasonable, and I'll definitely be back to pick things up when I move off-campus.

It's like a mini IKEA with never ending aisles that look exactly the same. To make it worse, whatever time you go there's always queues. The one thing it has going for it however, is the staff are friendly and helpful and it's easy to return products if you change your mind.

Also available were seeds, soil, pots and any tools necessary to start and maintain a garden. The rest of the shop, though, was quite dull in comparison. I found myself dragging my feet through sections like lighting, paint, shelving, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, rugs, laminate flooring and tile. A woman asked her child, "Are you getting bored?" as I walked by, so perhaps I'm simply not mature enough to appreciate the wonder of home renovations. My theory, though, is that every aisle brings to mind the hours of work that would accompany each purchase. I really can't be bothered.

Very encouraging indeed to see local places doing this well. They also cut wood to size and sell a huge amount of high end and basic tools to get your home looking at its best. While the big chain places might be a few pence cheaper, I think its a lot better to buy your DIY goods from somewhere like this as the staff are always so much more helpful and honest to what your needs are.
