Clay Bowl - Interior decor. This screams small town Nebraska.

This is yet another restaurant that stands in as a perfect example of a rural Nebraska gem. The…read moreoutside is unassuming - in fact at first it's hard to tell it's a bowling alley, as it looks a bit like a bait and tackle store. But step inside and you are transported to the past; built in 1961, the decor and the style hasn't changed much since. The bowling alley is immaculate and the pin reset machinery is still the 1960s original. The advertisement signs are hand painted (and not just for looks - they are real ads). The restaurant is unassuming, with extremely informal tables and the kind of bar with dollar bills playfully stuck to the ceiling (if you don't know the trick, ask them, it'll only cost a dollar to show you). The food that I've tried (burgers and fries) is excellent. A burger of this caliber on the coasts would cost $25, easy, with thick handmade fresh beef patties. While I was there they were slow barbecuing a set of roasts on the outdoor grill - should be ready by tomorrow! The service was extremely kind, and the owner even showed me around the back machinery of the bowling alley when she noticed I was interested. This is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone already, the type of small town restaurant that is slowly disappearing from the American landscape. If you are stopping by in Sutton or traveling on the highway, it's worth a visit. If you like experiencing small town rural diners

While I was…read moregetting my Nebraska Passport stamped, I spoke at length with the guy behind the counter about the incredible array of possibilities here. He proudly said that there is literally something for everyone. Bowling includes regular, cosmic, duckpin, and bumper. For leagues besides bowling, there's darts and pool featured in the huge sports bar that can also be a wedding venue. There's so many game machines it's like walking through slot machines at a casino, but none are gambling. Laser tag, indoor go carts, out door go carts, and more. You get the idea. While I was there, someone was having a birthday party. I didn't check the pricing, but the food menu seems very reasonable. It's definitely family friendly entertainment.

GREAT: Planning in advance with management and creating an event from far away. We traveled from 9 hours away. The kids loved the go-karts and laser tag. I definitely feel like these are next level attractions! Staff - friendly, kind, and helped to end a sad day on a high note. Food - much of this place has expanded but the kitchen can get strained, especially when they are slammed by the Saturday night bowlers. Order early and often. Recommended improvement: A seating plan. It was winner take all seating and our group was growing as the night went on. The locals were miffed that a city slicker dared to ask them for their barely filled pizza table.
