In the spirit of Halloween, my husband and I wanted to do something spooky. We ultimately decided to go to Knott's Scary Farm after hearing good things about this haunted attraction. This year was my first time ever going, and I would be so down to go again every year. We got there shortly before 7pm and seemed to be one of the earliest people to arrive. Once the event started, we walked around exploring the different zones and encountered many scare actors in astounding costumes. It felt quite interactive. We were able to check out several things while the lines were still short. I would definitely recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. The themed mazes were fun and very well decorated. We went through 5 out of 10 mazes. 2 of the mazes were just newly added this year. My favorite maze was The Chilling Chambers, which was filled with lots of infamous monsters. There were so many rooms with different levels of horror. One maze that I feel is underrated is The Grimoire. It felt like walking through ancient history filled with tons of unanswered questions - very spooky indeed. Some of the jump scares got us pretty good. Even better than the mazes, in my opinion, are the roller coaster rides. All the ones we went on were super thrilling and enjoyable. GhostRider, Silver Bullet, and HangTime were by far the best rides there. The lines got quite long, but it was all worth the wait. It was also great to see our screaming photos after getting off each ride. If standing for over an hour is too much for you, then I suggest purchasing the Fast Lane wristband that gives priority boarding on select rides and all mazes. One thing I wish that they offered was physical maps to help us navigate around the park. My husband and I did get a bit lost at first, but ended up finding the online Knott's Scary Farm guide map, which was super useful. Plenty of scary and thrilling activities are offered at this amusement park. We stayed until 2am, the closing time, and still were not able to get through everything that we wanted to. That means we will definitely have to revisit to check out the mazes and rides that we missed.

    Mazes & Scare Zones 2025

My wife and I had the idea to visit Knott's Scary Farm in October to celebrate Halloween together and my goodness it was one of my favorite experiences (Even for someone who hates jumpscares) We arrived around 6:30PM (KSF starts at 7PM) and we parked in a lot across Knotts (Western Lot) next to the employee lot. Knotts Scary Farm will have their own entrance, not sure if the main entrance would have their own but we entered on the western side. For my first time visiting, I was really amazed by the way Knotts put the mazes together. We went on a total of 5 rides & 5 mazes, from 7PM to 2AM (Closing time). All the scare zones were very fun, not really fond of the smoke that comes out but it surely adds to the gimmick of a "scare zone." Loved all the interactions that the employees gave, awesome costumes and jumpscares. Some went over the top with some sparks which was a cool and fun add on. Mazes were pretty amazing, but my hat goes to The Chilling Chambers. As the name goes, it's literally chilly in there, a bit physically and psychologically. Production team for this maze gets my applause as the vibes in the maze is next level. Every single corner and turn as you anticipating a jumpscare, even in a crowd of people going through the maze, the employees do a great job of having variety, not "fixed" scares for every single passerby. Very spooky, highly recommend to find time for this maze whenever visiting. Our favorite ride of all has to go to Silver Bullet, one of the most hyped rides out there. Super exhilarating, one of the only rides where your feet dangles from the floor, a unique experience for people who are used to seat type roller coasters. Plenty of loops, not super fast, but fast enough for max level thrill for Knotts. On another occasion, this would be the ride to go on numerous times if lines are short. 10/10 coaster. Ghostrider of all rides is definitely Knotts signature ride as we waited over 2 hours for the ride. Was it worth it? I would say yes. I would say Ghostrider is Knotts most thrilling ride. The height gathered on this ride is teeth gritting. The anticipation is immense as you slowly rise up to the loop drop. Very exhilarating and fun. Quite nice to see that the cameras take pictures mid ride, can see as you're walking out your reactions during the ride, a nice gimmick. There's not much negative to say about Knotts, the only complaint we had is that there weren't any physical maps. Yes there's online, and plenty of poles with the maps, but they weren't super informative. I believe they could add a couple of pointers on each map location laid around each part of the park to better guide visitors. Each second counts whenever the park is crowded. I would also say that there needs to be more signs or at least easier to see signs, perhaps LED signs to show where the entrance is for each maze and ride. Since this event is help during the night, that would help tremendously. There's some mazes and rides that we didn't get to even though we were there for the entire duration of the outing. Bulk of the passing time went to waiting in line for popular rides, it was a wise decision to arrive early to avoid all the lines especially for the rides. Highly recommend getting a fast lane wristband if you're not a fan of waiting in line. Otherwise, 10/10 props, costumes, mazes, and rides are always great at Knotts. Will most certainly revisit again to check out all the mazes & rides that we didn't have time for.

Haven't been back to Knott's Scary Farm since 2018 and literally had a blast! This can also go with saying that I went with a great group of friends, but they also even said that Knott's was more worth it than Universal's HHN. Wait times weren't too bad-- anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes on a Friday without a fast pass. The only maze that really took time was The Zoo and this was because all lights were out after 11pm. Our group liked the idea of using a flashlight in the maze, but we were iffy on if it was worth the hour and 20 minute wait in line. To note, one of the downsides was that inside the mazes it did feel quite hot, which I imagine would suck for the scare actors. Also, we really wanted to see The Hanging show and waited in line, but there were actually too many people already in line so we wouldn't make it even if we waited in line any longer. Funnel cake with boysenberry and vanilla soft serve did not miss though-- perfect dessert to end the night!

We had the great luck of winning 4 tickets on the radio to both Knott's Scary Farm and Universal's Halloween Horror Nights this year!! Last year, we only won 2 tickets to Universal's HHN. The haunts themselves are decorated really well even if they were mostly repeats. This was the last year for Mesmer and Grimoire. Mesmer is clown-themed, a family favorite, and Grimoire is cool with its World War II battleground. We also love Cinema Slasher and Widows was also very cool. The new mazes "Mary" and "The Zoo" were awesome; I think Mary was one of the best we've seen. Here are the NEW mazes: Mary - The Haunting of Worth Home: A new maze based on the Bloody Mary legend. The Zoo: A new maze set in an abandoned zoo where military experiments have gone wrong, creating human-animal hybrids. Here are the returning mazes: Origins: The Curse of Calico Cinema Slasher Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman Widows Mesmer: Sideshow of the Mind The Grimoire Room 13 The Chilling Chambers Compared to last year (and subsequent years where Knott's would have earned 5 stars), I'm somewhat sorry to say that the Grandaddy of SoCal Theme Park Haunts lost a star due to the scare actors' lack of enthusiasm. This was a serious bummer because they greatly affected the scare factor. On the other hand, HHN's scare actors were fantastic and always "on". We also liked HHN because they switch up the haunts every year rather than having mostly the same stale haunts. While HHN had lots of scare actors (and Arts from Terrifier!) roaming the park, Knott's Scary Farm definitely seemed to have a lot less this year which was a bummer. That said, we do love the scare zones in Ghost Town with its decorations and wandering ghouls and we love the clowns in Carn-Evil. The costumes of the scare actors in the Gore-ing 20's Scare Zone were good, too. The other Scare Zones, The Gauntlet and Forsaken Lake were sadly immemerable. If you've never been to KSF, you will definitely like it. If you're us and have gone several years in a row, well, some of the mazes (and especially the actors) seem tired. Based on this year alone, if we had to choose 1 over the other, we would choose HHN.

Knott's Scary Farm keeps its winning streak going with quality "Scary" mazes! We just attended probably our 5th time going and the mazes, food, and overall park organization is superb! We also go to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights and of course the production quality at HHN is off the chart as that is their core business. But I must say Knott's brings it for Halloween as well! Job well done Knott's

I love coming here every year, the prices are affordable. The weights are no more than an hour on super busy nights. Opposed to Universal Studios, where you're waiting in line for hours and you're going through in ginormous groups. These groups are much smaller. You get more of a jump scare there's a lot of mazes and a lot of scare actors. This place is definitely worth the visit during spooky season. It's much better than universal and much better than Six Flags. They did a great job this year. I will continue to keep coming back here after year.

One of my fav places and times of the year! I love the people, the scareators, the scare zones, and the houses. Some find it scary but I find it scary, fun, and therapeutic! Scary Farm is like family to us. The people we have met over the years and see from year to year is the best.

This was our first time getting to take our kids - 14 and 16 year olds. We have a friendly fellow coven come with us (friends) and had a wonderful time! The mazes are absolutely amazing to experience. (I didn't want to post any pictures that would ruin it for potential visitors!) The best way to get to all the mazes are to get the early 5:30p Boofet and getting to access the park early. If you go before October 15th, there are hardly any lines. You also get a drink cup good for free drinks in the park for the remainder of the night. They're known for their fried chicken and anything boysenberry. Happy Halloween!

This is so fun, and a perfect way to kick off the season. In my opinion, Knott's Scary Farm is better done than Universal's Horror Nights. We started with the boo-fet, which gets you in early. We hit four mazes before the gates were even open. I was glad to see my favorite maze Mesmir for the last time before it is replaced for next year.

Absolutely love this place!! I feel like the production is better than Universal Studios but that's just my opinion!! Definitely will come back next year

Knott's Scary Farm is a total blast!! We had a great time! The scary music, the scary actors walking around, the rides and the haunted houses where all so good! We arrived at 7pm when the park opened and got back to our hotel room at 1am! Super fun time!!! Last year we went to Universal Studios for Halloween festivities and that was a total dud....

I haven't been to Knott's Scary Farm in 20ish years. We brought the kids and had a great time watching them experience it for the first time. I appreciated that the cast/zombies weren't as aggressive as I remember them to be. Of course the park was super crowded but it was pretty manageable on a Thursday night. I'm sure Tuesday or Wednesday would have been even better. I couldn't imagine trying to push through the waves of people that wait until the weekend. We were able to get on a couple rides but made sure to focus our time on the mazes. I was impressed with the details and sound effects. Some of the cast members recognized that we were letting the kids lead us so they got the full experience. They gave the kids a little more attention which made it even more fun for us to watch and record.

Ask the Community - Knott's Scary Farm

Do they accept cash or is it cashless?

I believe now, they are cashless. They have cash to card machines located through out the park apparently.

Do they charge a 6 month baby?

No they do not. We brought two babies

Can you go alone with friends if you are 17 or you need an adult for ID?

    You don't need an adult

    How much is parking?

    $25.00

Is it actually scary and fun?

Heck yes it's scary and fun! For the best experience get the Fright Lane Tickets to go to the front of every line! And go on a Thursday or Sunday night.

Should I still get the front in the line pass if I go on a Thursday or Sunday?

If you're willing to shell out the money, then I'd say get it. Each maze can range up to 60-80 minutes long regardless Thursday or Sunday b/c everyone else thinks the same way to avoid theme park traffic.

Can you bring water bottle into scary farm?

What day is busier - Friday or Sunday?

    Friday

Are unopened water bottles allowed inside?

    Yes.

Are Thursday's packed and does it require a fast pass?

thursdays aren't too crowded and you probably won't need a fast pass

Weird question, but what color are the toilets?

Um, white. At least the restrooms I've attended

Is Knott's Scary Farm open today?

    Yep

So if you go during th day you cant stay for the fright fest? Would you have to pay again?

It is a separate event so there is a separate ticket..

I'm thinking whether or not I should get the Fright Lane Passes, can anyone please tell me the benefits or getting one?

you can pretty much skip the general line for mazes & rides.

Anyone know the prices of beer and the kinds offered?

They had a boysenberry beer and a boysenberry wine

With the fright and fast lane passes- They only checked our wrist band. What is the neck thing for?

The plastic card on the lanyard - that was just for our reference list of rides and attractions that accepted the fright/fast pass. Other than that, just to look cool, and Elite I suppose. :-) Perhaps a bit of free Yelp advertising?

Now I have new requirements and it's not so easy I have epilepsy, fibromyalgia and some other things that prevent me from being in lines or around large crowds so standing in one guest services line for an extended period each day to get accommodations doesn't make sense. The app is also not very user friendly for getting a membership for exactly the same price as a 6month season pass. If you pay one price you should get the same benefits so in my opinion whether you pay in full or monthly it should be annual membership. Be very careful on everything and read in depth details because drink pass and food pass may be for a month not length of pass and you'll need to renew. What's great is we were able to bring in wagons to haul our beach chairs, umbrellas, and misc items for the kids. Even if you're not the first to arrive to pick the prime spots/shade areas, you can pretty much find any spot at the water park and create a shady oasis for you and your family. Food and drinks are on the pricy side but that's pretty normal for a water park I think.

Everyone seems to have their complaint about this place. But when you look at the big picture its a…read morewash. Look how many families are coming in and out of this place. The percentage of negative reviews is probably not a blip on the great scheme of things. People always writes reviews when something negative happens but when things go right majority of people dont. You go here and expect madness. Kids everywhere, crowds, etc. You want tranquil all to yourself feel and vibes, go vacation to a remote island somewhere. This is for the kids. Plenty of things to do. The water slides are enough to keep kids having fun for a while. For added fees there are other optional activities but seems more geared toward younger kids. so why 4 out of 5 stars? Because I've been to the one in northern california (manteca). This property seems older. More crowded, and just doesnt have the same lodge vibes. There simply isnt the same WOW factor as the Manteca location. There is no parking garage in Manteca but instead a vast land of parking spaces. So the Lodge just commands attention and shows you are about to enter something grand. Here they use a parking structure and although efficient it just doesnt give of same vibes. The "Grand Lobby" here is also just meh. The area and space seems so fragmented and doesnt have a good flow. The manteca location is structured so well. You walk in from the main entrance and you are really in a Grand Lobby with the towering fireplace. Here its off to the side and now filled with arcade games. That fireplace is usually the photo spot for families in Manteca. Here you really dont have that. People have said the waterpark itself is better here. If it is, I didn't notice it too much. It isn't that much better to really matter. The wave pool here definitely is stronger which is very cool. But the lazy river, and everything else seems on par. I believe they have an extra attraction with the surf/wake board simulator. So IMO, the Manteca location is better overall. But this is a much better location being in SoCal with lots of other things to do here. While Manteca is basically nothing but Great Wolf Lodge.

Honestly- our one night trip was simply better than expected. Hassle free, easy, fun. I would have…read moregiven 5 STARS but there was a ton of construction on the property (not the biggest deal, but kind of a bummer). Details below. -parking was easy. -room check in at the kiosk was easy. -the kiosk printed our wristbands out. -I got a text with our room number about 30 min later (I would have preferred no wait, but it was the busy check in time). -we went to dinner at BJs down the road, no wait, very good 2 family dinner. Great M-F deals. -my kids did the high ropes course and liked it. We hit the arcade for about 15 minutes, they didn't really like it (but it's under construction, they were moving machines up into the lobby). -I brought chocolate croissants and muffins, we ate bfast in the room. The rooms have large mini fridges, there's a small microwave where the ice machines are on each floor, there's a good enough weird coffee machine in each room. -we loaded our regular bags into the car, checked out of our of the room at 9:40, got into the line for the pool. -got plenty of chairs together for the adults. -my advice: you do not needs chairs for each kid, especially older kids. They stop by, sit, and bounce. Most people eat at the tables, there are signs that people can only sit at tables for 30 min, we never had a problem eating at tables (it's so much easier). Don't waste a bunch of chairs on kids who never use them.... -the bar drinks at the pool were very very good. the Bloody Mary was the best one I've ever had. Yep. We had a mango pineapple rum drink that was so good, not too sweet at all. -every staff member we encountered was on point, very helpful and kind. -I charged everything using my wristband, very easy. CONS: -I've been several times. In my option, the pizza place is the only food worth getting when you are at the pool. The Bucket food place in the pool area is just not good, it's very cafeteria and expensive. -I saw about 15 people slip and fall, mostly near the life jacket stand outside the wave pool. Like full on hard falls. An employee has a floor squeegee, but it's pretty useless. Even people walking slipped. -the headboards in the renovated rooms are pretty bad and dangerous. They have posts spaced out like 5 inches that have right-edge corners, so, sharp. And the pillows are not enough and not fluffy. When you lean back, your head slams into those pillar posts. My daughter's head went right between two posts so she hit both sides of her head on the posts. I hit my head too. Who the hell thought that was a great design? After that issue, I noticed all the hard corners on everything in the room. My kids are older now, but parents or younger kids, take note.
