The centre has a cafe within the main house and grounds, and there is a small bike shop (with bike hire). There are green (easy - 8km), blue (moderate - 10km), red (difficult 17km) and orange (bike park - 4km) routes. The green and blue are mainly fireroad and make for very enjoyabe rides. The red route is a mixture of woodland and open trails. The route contains testing climbs, fast descents, berms and water splashes (you will get your feet wet!). The orange bike park route/area is very challenging and requires some preliminary viewing by foot before attempting many of the obstacles. If you like your northshore this sis aplace for you. Expect to spend a good few hours exploring the trails here.

With a tea room, a ton of tartan and an genuine old loom for you to peruse, it is like a blown up concept of Scottish life. It seems to me to be a physical example of the preconception many foreigners may have of Scotland. Countries full of ex pats, generally interested in the history here, would love this place as it hosts a number of family tartans, old crests and harks back to Jacobean times. There's enough shortbread available here to last you a nuclear winter, not to mention a Best of Bagpipes collection playing out from the CD booth. There's also a historial book collection and some stuffed toy highland cows, aww. But there's something earthy and homely about this Woollen Mill that comforts me everytime I visit. Perhaps it's because we came here every year when we went on our annual family road trip in the 90s. Or perhaps it's the relaxed pace of the retired couples who genuinely get so much enjoyment out of the merchandise. Or it could be the lovely, tasty tea room which offers service with a smile, and some damn scrumptious scones. Whatever it is, it has a charm, and with its window into one side of Scottish culture it is surely a crowd pleaser for the tourists.

this is just round the corner from my house, so pretty handy…read more its basically the sports unit that dumfries high school uses, but the facilities are pretty good, combined with those available at the newer DGOne and the king george the fifth means that dumfries has some fantastic sporting facilities. the best bit about the keswick is the running track, which is up to proper athletics standards.
