The rustic charm does not make up for the over-pricing at Knoxie's. We stopped by after the boat show for brunch and was gouged for mediocre food. Just because a restaurant serves crab doesn't mean it's amazing Maryland cuisine. PRICE: Each dish averaged around $15 and the drinks were closer to $10. However, the bloody mary's tasted weak and were packed to the brim with ice. If I can drink the bloody mary in 2 gulps, then I know that you are ripping me off. FOOD: We tried the grilled cheese, the crab cake, and the benedict. Really nothing to write home about. Decent portions. Make sure you clarify, with the crab cake, whether it's the full portion or a "lunch" portion (which might not even exist). LOCATION: This is really the most redeeming quality. Had dinner here for the first time. My wife and I were looking for "some place different". Our server Stephanie was spot on. The oysters Rockefeller was without a doubt the best I've ever had. The crab cakes were outstanding... they did not overseason so you could actually taste the crab. NOT KID FRIENDLY regardless of the kid frills. I've eaten at Knoxie's several times over the last two years while staying at the Inn for conferences I was speaking at. Food is always very good as well as service. Tonight however I was appalled at the treatment my mother, son and I received from the owner and a particular member of the wait staff. We entered the restaurant at approximately 5:30 to get a light meal for my son who was indeed very hungry and as such, very vocal. We sat, ordered our food and tried what we could to calm him. Once we ordered, my Mom went to retrieve a bottle for him. As we waited for the bottle, I picked him up and walked him around our section as there were no other occupied tables. He calmed down and was happy. Note: We asked to be seated far away from anyone else and our section was empty. My Mom returned with the bottle and it calmed him for a bit. I decided however to take my son to the lobby while we waited for our food. Upon my return about 10 minutes later, my son was quiet. I approached our table to find my mother packing up food. While my son and I were gone, I learned that we had been asked to leave. The owner instructed a server to relay his message....claiming guests in our section asked to be moved because of my son's tantrum. Since we arrived there was one table sat in our section. They had not moved. There was not another soul in our section. We were rudely told that getting the child a bottle was not enough to curb his behavior and that we needed to leave even though he was calmly enjoying his bottle at the time. Our situation was handled with no tact or respect. We had to pack our own food, were not given silverware and were escorted out. After asking if I was expected to pay for my take out, the servers looked at me blankly. I'm still waiting for an answer. Regardless of the cute character sippy cups, comfy high chairs and kids menu offered, this establishment is NOT kid friendly, nor do they have a respectful protocol to follow in the event a family is asked to leave. We were made to feel like we had committed a crime. It was an incredibly embarrassing experience and I will not be returning. read more

Knoxie's just moved into my favorite breakfast restaurant spot on Kent island! The food there is awesome and the server was very good even though the food took a little bit of time-there was an extremely large party in the back room so perhaps that slowed the kitchen down a little bit... It wasn't a big deal though truthfully because the server was pleasant and kept our drinks full and we were just happy to be there having a leisurely morning... I'm hoping next time we go, I can give more stars. They were "short" on help bc of prom. It don't seem that crowded to get the service we had. We never were asked if we needed a second beer or drink. I finally went to bar and got a water from other waitress. Our food came out at different times. I hate that! The place is beautiful, and I'm sure even more so on a nice day. The food was good. We had the cream of crab soup. Hubby had shells and I got shells and a devil. It had a good taste, the crab meat seemed very fresh, could have used some old bay and sherry in it. The shrimp and grits were good along with seared tuna. I had an appetizer as my meal, the seared tuna. The bill came close to 80. For two ppl and one beer each. A bit pricey for brunch. I've seen this place advertised and thought I'd drop in for the prime rib Tuesday night special. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and everyone working there was pleasant and courteous. I was quickly seated and a young man quickly delivered water. My waitress Kim came quickly after introduced herself and I was off. I got the crab soup, prime rib which was $19.99! Great atmosphere for brunch on the patio on a summer Sunday! Excellent food, service and setting!

We tried Knoxie's last night with the family and was very impressed. The steaks were decent, but the seafood is really where this place stood out. Knoxie's has some of the best cream of crab soup and crabcakes you'll get anywhere, and the grilled shrimp and lobster were prepared perfectly. I also tried the sriracha-honey fried chicken and was not disappointed. The bar is well-stocked with local beer and liquor, and the desserts made in house were a delicious ending for to our meal. To top it all off, we couldn't have asked for better service. I'd highly recommend eating at Knoxie's if you're in the area and looking for a memorable dinner (or even stuck waiting to cross the bay bridge on your way back from the Eastern Shore). read more

Absolutely terrible experience. We were staying at the Inn for a family wedding and had brunch at this restaurant on Father's Day. The service was some of the worst I've seen recently. The waitress never brought us enough coffee or creamer and completely forgot one of the orders for our table. In addition, the kitchen sent our two orders that were cold AND incomplete (eggs Benedict without the hollandaise sauce). This would normally have been enough to justify a 1 star review, but in addition to lousy service and mediocre food, one member of our party experienced significant food poisoning for the rest of the day from the food. Do not waste your time at this overpriced and awful restaurant. Just go to the Market Cafe (excellent food and service). read more

After several failed reservation attempts at other restaurants, my fiancé and I found ourselves at Knoxie's for our anniversary dinner. I must say, I am so glad that the other places didn't work out. We've eaten here before, but last night was one of the best meals I'd had in awhile. We started with calamari and cream of crab soup, both were fantastic. The soup is rice and we both agreed that it is the best cream of crab soup around. I had the filet, which was so tender and cooked perfectly. He thoroughly enjoyed the swordfish. We ended with the donut ice cream sandwich, which was insane. He doesn't have a sweet tooth and still said it was one of the best desserts he had ever had. (It should be added to the permanent dessert menu!) The service was top notch and we took advantage of half priced bottle of wine night! 10/10.....we had zero complaints! read more

Surprisingly really great food just on the far side of the Bay Bridge. We were trying to go somewhere else for a bite and ended up on a one-way path over the bridge with no turnaround. So once we got to the other side, we looked up the best local eats, and Knoxie's was the clear favorite on Yelp. The crab omelet was perfectly cooked, fluffy, and stuffed with huge chunks of lump crab and a crab cream sauce (which was quite similar to the Hollandaise on another plate). It was served with excellent home-fried potatoes and hearty slices of rustic toast, which would have been good, except they were apparently toasted on the flat-top, and the oil tasted overheated. Minor quibble. The crab benedict was likewise excellent. Two perfectly poached eggs (actual farm eggs with rich yellow-orange yolks) served over a flaky, crispy-edged, soft biscuit. So good. The sauce itself was a little thin but tasty. And here again, no skimping on the luscious lump crab. The same home fries came on the side. Coffee is also very good, and love the Steelite pottery dishware. While not inexpensive, this was a better brunch than I've had at places like Woodward Table and other farm-to-table joints. Definitely worth a stop! read more

We had an amazing Father's Day brunch! Even the kids meal (chicken tenders and fries) was delicious. Not frozen, made from scratch and fresh cut fries. The adults even enjoyed it and joked about ordering an extra kids meal the next time we go. The shrimp and grits are amazing and will not disappoint. The addition of andouille is perfect and I wish i knew where they got their sausage. In season, order the berry pie. It was the perfect dessert for a summer brunch. My wife and I had a pretty good dinner at Knoxie's for her birthday, but it wasn't quite as good as I was expecting based on the reviews. The service was pretty good, but the food was just OK. Our host Evy sat us at our table and he was awesome - he remembered my wife's birthday and said Happy Birthday multiple times. He also went out of his way to select a nice table for us, which was a great start. We had come a bit early for our 6:30 reservation to take advantage of happy hour, but forgot to ask before sitting down if the happy hour existed at the table. After getting settling in at our table, we asked the server who told us it's only at the bar - since the place was empty, we asked if maybe we could go to the bar for a drink/appetizer. She actually went to check with the manager to see if she could just do the happy hour to our table, but was told they couldn't. So we picked up and went to the bar table a few feet away. It was nice that they let us do that, and even that they held our table for us (it wasn't busy), but it was awkward the whole time because we didn't want our original server to feel like she was losing out on tip. It just felt silly to drink the same drinks for more money while sitting in the same room, and I was really craving wings and that was only on the happy hour menu. Unfortunately the wings at the bar were not very good - lightly "asian style" and just not particularly meaty. When we got back to our table we ordered the calamari dish, cream of crab soup, burrata, and a burger. I would say the best things were the cream of crab soup and the calamari, but the burrata was really very bad. It tasted rubbery and even worse, like nothing. We tend to always order burrata and this was probably the worst we've had. My wife said her burger was OK, but the "garlic" fries were not very garlic so we asked for a side of aioli to dip them in and that helped a lot. All in all it was a nice dinner as the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant and the service was pretty solid (but very slow at the bar). I would definitely come back here and hopefully have a more consistent experience with the food. read more

Our first visit to Knoxie's, and my wife and I were very pleased with the selection, service and food. Lots to choose from, we had the fried oyster appetizer followed by crab cakes with Yankee slaw and the braised short ribs with grits and roasted vegetables. Everything tasted great and we split a great piece of apple pie for desert. Our sever was very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed our visit, and since we live right down the road we plan to be back often. Update: our second visit and the food was incredible! We started with drinks and then the cream of crab and the Chesapeake Gumbo, both were great but the crap soup was my favorite. My wife had the seafood platter, she gave me a taste of the Crab Risotto and it was awesome, I had the Filet Mignon and it was one of the nicest steaks I've ever eaten:-) sides were the Swiss chard, Brussels sprouts and duck fat fries. Went there the night before Valentine's Day service was great and food was fresh I had the crab cake appetizer and the seafood sampler w lobster scallops and shrimp and crab risotto my bf had prime rib he was a happy man enjoyed every bite! We also had creamed spinach and mashed potatoes which were enough to share and we even had extra to take home. We can't wait until it's warmer to go to the fire pit outside. We tried Knoxie's a few weekends ago on a whim. Lord knows Queen Anne's County can use some better quality eateries. Knoxie's Table is in The Inn, a brand new hotel near the Bay Bridge. We pulled up at night, and the hotel itself had a Holiday Inn Express look about it. There was no outside entrance for the restaurant, and only banners on the light poles gave any indication that it existed. My wife ran in to make sure that there was actually a restaurant in there, and not just a complimentary breakfast bar for hotel guests. We sat at the bar and checked the place out. Decor is cool, classy, hipster but not austere. Both the bar menu and regular menu are loaded with locally produced farm to table options, with a good list of small plate options for sharing. Blue Point oysters were pricey ($2.50 each) but delish, and the cheese plate we ordered was all from local farms on the mid-Shore, and served with crackers and flatbread. The bacon chutney that came with it was exceptional too. For drinks, I tried the Bees Knees, a gin martini with fresh-squeezed lemon juice and locally produced honey drizzled on the inside of the glass. It was great, but by the time I got to the bottom of it, the sweetness was a bit much. My wife opted for wine, and there were plenty of good choices by the glass. Service was exceptional too. The bartender Morris is a true pro: funny, intuitive,and loaded with great stories and recommendations. We were sitting next to the server's bar area, and the waiters/waitresses were friendly and welcoming too. The Inn being part of the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club event complex, we were wondering if there was a wedding earlier that day as my wife found a woman lying on the floor of the ladies room who was too drunk to function, and the men's room was a wreck with paper towels strewn everywhere. Not quite what we expected, given the level of everything else. Overall, Knoxie's reminds us of a good downtown Rehoboth restaurant: eclectic menu, unique cocktails, resort-feel, colorful characters. Four Stars for now, but we'll absolutely be back for a proper dinner and try for star #5. read more

My wife had an appetizer of the Chesapeake gumbo, and I had the hunter's stew; both were excellent, with the stew containing a generous portion of both venison and mushrooms. Beautiful venue--first class design, decent service, food was technically prepared well but flavorless. "Wedding food" without the wedding. Bland hollandaise, bland burger, good looking Bloody Mary bar. Usually I'm fairly upbeat about experiences, but trying to balance out what appears to be inordinately positive reviews that steered us here for brunch. Odd layout puts "booths" in the midst of tables, so we were inches away from the conversations of others, which were hopefully not representative of their typical guest crowd. I truly applaud the servers for handling and deflecting inappropriate and offensive commentary from other diners, exceedingly professional. read more

I have literally never had a bad experience at Knoxie's Table. My mom friends and I enjoy a Happy Hour at least once a month at Knoxie's it has become sort of a tradition with us. There are two TV screens to watch and both had sports channels. Nary a male in sight, I asked to have the channel changed to anything but sports.
