The bathroom and shower were immaculate. After calling to reserve a site late in the afternoon, we arrived after the office and store had closed, but our site info, registration form and a map were on the board waiting for us. BEWARE- Even though KOA has a reasonable cancellation fee ($10), the owner of this KOA does not. We canceled our 30-day reservation well over a week out. We did not get our $500 deposit back. We are full-time travelers, so we always stay 3-4 weeks. We did not pay a deposit for a "monthly" stay, which is $750 non-refundable (this information is found in the bowels of their website - not on the reservation page), as we were not on a monthly plan. In my opinion, we should have been given our refund as stated by the KOA guidelines. It is true that the KOA Corp does not get involved in these disputes, but I feel they need to know how their franchises are being run. Sadly, even when we do get our rig fixed, we will find another place to stay. read more

Made a reservation- Requested to cancel- Was told I would be charged deposits- I made it CLEAR- not to cancel as we Would be there and looked forward to meeting them (facetiously -as he is aggressively angry and rude... For your own sake- read the reviews. These people shouldn't be in business. On YouTube they have several reviews of the man being angry and crass and kicking people out. He was near yelling at me when i called to cancel--- anger issues- please get help and then maybe your star level would raise you Thief!!!! My family rented a dome tent, 5th wheel trailer and a cabin for a get together this past week. The shower took an hour to drain and the stove didn't work properly in the cabin, the dome tent was fine but the 5th wheel trailer we rented was a total dump that stunk like a backed up toilet. It even had a broken window taped up with duct tape (See photo). My sister asked for a refund because under no circumstances were we staying in it. The owner was clearly NOT happy when we wanted our money back. He said that we had to pay for the first night and he would refund us $260 for the remaining two nights. I guess as customers we are supposed to settle for sub-par accommodations and not complain. Please note, I travel all the time and have stayed in everything from 5 star hotels to tents and not once have I asked for a refund. After leaving the place spotless upon check-out, not only did the owner "not" refund the money for the cancellation, he charged our credit card for a stolen pillow (we actually left 3 brand new ones we bought for those in our group that stayed in the dome tent) beer boxes in the fire pit, something that was supposedly broken in the cabins refrigerator and towels that he claims are permanently stained. The owner charged us fraudulently a total of $510 (the $260 for the cancellation he never refunded and a $250 damage fee) solely because he was pissed off that we complained. The charge is being disputed with our credit card company & I will contact KOAs Corporate as well. Give this KOA your credit card number and stay at this place at your own risk. read more

This is so sad to see the reviews customers have left on here and on the KOA website. It seems that any feedback that is provided is always received in a defensive way, with no responsibility ever taken and verbal attacks and excuses start by the owner, staff or whoever monitors that page. One would think that a business owner wants to always improve and make money and provide their customers with the best experience possible when visiting Bangor, ME. Not this place. The owner is unprofessional, and knows nothing or cares nothing about customer service and really needs to sell and pass the business on to someone who actually cares about campers and the KOA brand. These 5-star reviews are obviously "friends of the business" and owner, and so not tell the true story about this establishment. The Owner Chris had better get his business and more importantly his behavior together before some investigative reporting comes in there and he finds his behavior, rudeness and antics on the 6 o'clock news. For anyone thinking of staying here, I suggest you take your chances at one of their competitors located close by and not give them a dime of your money or any of your time. Low score due to lack of maintenance! Laundry room was awful. Dirty, strong mildew smell. Did not go into restrooms after seeing the state of the laundry room. Premium sites were covered in pine needles. We had to clean our site ourselves. For the money, suggest you go elsewhere. There is no cable TV which is advertised as such. Have never seen a KOA this bad and I have never given any KOA a negative review. read more

Gave 1 star , the coumpground its self is nice . Big store and ice cream shack. The pool is nice. BUT the owner and people running the place are very improfessional and rude. My daughter witnessed the owner screaming at another camper because he didn't stop at the office to check in. The camper was walking up to pay his day fees as they didn't want to block the entrance. The owner thought the best way to handle that was to scream at him and call the cops to kick him out. A little more background... the campers where veterans whom just had come from a fellow veterans funeral. I will not be returning to this campground I am appalled at there behavior . read more

Called to book a last minute campsite at 7:30pm. Asked the gentleman if there were sites available, he said he would look on computer. He said he had a site and proceeded to ask for my info, I asked him the price of the campsite available and he hung up the phone. I thought he sounded aggravated on the phone but I chopped it up to bad service and I promptly called back. He immediately answered and said something along the lines of, " look you either want the site or you don't, I don't have time for this. I'm ready to go home". We have stayed at several KOAs across the country and have never had someone like that in the front office. I understand that it is late and you want to go home, but it only takes one minute to tell me the price of the campsite. We ended up booking at Cold River Campground bc they had much higher reviews anyways. I hope this guy gets some rest and tomorrow is a better day for him. read more

Electrical issues & an old power grid. He blamed the electrical problem was my surge protector fault. It wasn't a 5 star because we were slightly disappointed in the pool condition. Chris was kind enough to send us a personal email telling us to never come back. Great spot to camp and close to Acadia National Park (1 hr). We stayed in one of their new glamping domes, which was a great, comfortable alternative to camping. I stayed with 3 other people and the dome was very spacious even with a queen bed, top bunk, and futon. Dome keeps you dry from the rain. Bathroom is clean and they have activities to do. Only minor thing was the owners forgot to take out the trash from the previous guests, but when we mentioned it they apologized and were nice about it. Would stay here again. read more

This KOA's owners are not very friendly. Spent a lot of money for subpar accommodations. Tried to pitch a tent on an already rented site with a dome & was told he would charge for a tent site, which was $37 per night, on top of the already rented dome that was leaking water & puddling the floor (not sure if he actually charged this or not). Tent sites are separated by deteriorating/broken posts (that fell towards my car). Between the noise from cars passing by on the road & the lumbar yard/truck back up alarms at 7am, this is the least peaceful camping spot I've ever been to. If you don't mind the smell of backing up septic tanks wafting throughout the entire campground & being charged for dumb, unexpected stuff; then, this is the place, Also, the bathrooms are decent. Pretty well maintained for the most part. read more

Staying at the KOA for the Month of August 2020 having a great time, the campground is very well kept, the owners and staff are very involved. The general store is well stocked. The cafe offers a great pizza, lobster roll and they will deliver to your campsite. The Holden A Kone ice cream shop has fantastic soft serve, lots of flavors. Very patriotic, he flies the American flag, and all the Armed services flags out front. This is a return visit, and all the changes are positive. read more

Not awesome. Happy to get a tent site at the last minute on a Friday in July. That's about all we were happy about. We were given a tent site on a hill so no flat spot for the tent or picnic table. What made it worse was that the tent site right next to us (on flatter ground) remained empty the whole day and night. The clientele was mixed with some late noise from our neighbors. The rest rooms were ok with water on the floor the whole time we were there which never got mopped up. The sink to wash dishes was clean and that area well kept. Not too scenic with the campground adjacent to a sawmill which thankfully was quiet Saturday morning. Ok in a pinch. Nothing to write home about. read more

My boyfriend and I made a reservation for one of their dome sites from Thursday to Monday. We were coming from New York for rise above fest. 7 pm Thursday while we were en route, Chris called and very rudely informed me that the office closed at 7. I had already put on the reservation late arrival. When I told him our approximate location he get angry that we were still hours away and he had to be in bed by 10:30 so he would be up by 6. I asked him what he suggests I do now seeing how he was inconvienced. He continued to yell at me about how campsites aren't open 24/7. When I asked for a refund for the one night as now I had to scramble and find a hotel he hung up on me after telling me no. I had printed the reservation out and my boyfriend saw it only said that late arrivals will find their packet in an after hours box. Nothing about the latest time we could check in. He called back and this time spoke to a female, Sally. He told her that the male was very rude to me (Bluetooth speaker in the car) and she adamantly denied it. I was able to hear her yelling at my boyfriend through the phone. He told her what the reservation stated and that it was a contract so by them not honering it in turn it was a breech of contract. Again Sally got upset and changed the policy as she saw fit telling us we could not stay the night. We found a hotel not far from the camp site for the same amount as my deposit. They were very accommodating and helpful. I did post a review of their customer service on Facebook which I intended to modify or completely take down depending on the outcome of the weekend. In all honesty, I was busy enjoying my vacation I forgot about it. Friday we checked out of the hotel and went to the camp site. Sally told me she would decide if I deserve the refund on the night and instead decided to give me a 10% discount. It wasn't half of what I paid for the hotel ($87 after taxes for those who are wondering compared to the $31 discount they gave) but I took it and thought it was settled. We unpacked and went on our way. Sally tried to explain to us that coming in at 2 am is only for the RVs. If we hadn't stopped we would have been in town by 11pm and already had planned to just bring in linen and pillows for the night. We also had packed specifically to do just that. Saturday we went to our concert. Sunday we woke up and went about our morning. The tent site next to ours was packing up to leave when Sally came around to make sure they were doing so. We left for the second day of the concert excited to have more fun. We no sooner got into the venue and were in line for something when I get a call from Sally informing me we were to remove our belongings immediately due to my Facebook post mentioned above. Now it was a rock festival and they had sets already playing in an outdoor venue which made it hard to hear her. I told her that we were at a concert and there was no re entry so when we got done that night we would be back to remove our belongings. She was not happy about that and continued to go on about how we had to come right back and remove them. I wasn't about to waste money and not get to see some awesome bands to go collect my stuff because she wasn't happy that I gave an honest review and then went on to enjoy my vacation. She then told me the concert got out at 10:30 and I was to be back right after. I told her as soon as I could get back with traffic and all I would. We parked about half a mile away in a garage and knew from the night before there would be traffic to get out. Sally said she would refund me for Sunday night. I was able to find another place to stay and checked in there before getting my items. Sally had the police officer waiting for us. He happily escorted us at our request to our site and told us he had no idea why he had been called. We gave him the run down and he shook his head. We gathered our belongings and left. The cop had the key to return to the owners. All Sally had to do was ask me to remove the post and ask if we had recitified it and I would have removed it. Everyone else we came into contact with all weekend was beyond polite and helpful. They are in no position to run a business. If our late arrival would be a problem they should call a few days before to work something out. Not the day of when you're traveling. You don't kick someone out because you got a bad review. You try and see what else you can do to make their experience more enjoyable. read more

I spent a weekend here and it was wonderful. Our cabin was roomy, comfortable and very clean. The owners and staff were very nice and accommodating. We had a great time dancing to a live band on Saturday night in the barn and there are lot of things to do during the day. Plan a few days here. It is quiet and the area is beautiful. My first time at a KOA. Will not return here. maybe another location. Stayed in a dome which overall OK. The location in the park was extremely noisy. At 0600 the lumberyard next door starts with air brakes, forklifts, guys yelling. Also, RT 1a sounded like it was coming through the park. I paid for 11 days($1200) but had to leave early. The owner, Chris and his wife, attacked my son who came to pick me up one day. This was in front of other campers threatening to call police. Completely unnecessary. I had been there for 5 days by then and NO problems. The owners couldn't make up there mind what he did wrong. Sped into park, didn't stop at stop sign, didn't check in and pay $4, or cut Chris off on his tractor ride.Which the tractor ride is dangerous enough going across the main entrance. I ended up talking to the campers who witnessed this and they saw my son come into park and said he did not speed or cut anyone off. If you area seasonal camper, maybe this park is ok, but I would not recommend or return here. read more

Chris Waterhouse is one of the rudest people I've ever met in my entire life. Here is the background of why. My family and I went to get a campground that afternoon to stay and as we went in, two of my family members stayed out to walk dogs and three of us went in. Now keep in mind I said two stayed out and they were innocent and oblivious to anything going on inside! Well the rest of us went in and asked could we drive through to look at the camp grounds before we pay the price of something so expensive. Well he got so mad and said no not at all. So we decided we would just leave. As for us we walked out and saw our other family members walking the dogs AGAIN oblivious to any matter he said no going back to the back. The gate was WIDE open with no signs so they figured they would walk the dogs where people will not step in crap. As for the three of us we had to go get them and tell them we were leaving because Chris was rude and unprofessional. As we were going to get them CHRIS came out screaming and cussing at innocent people my people. He was screaming like a crime was committed. He kicked us off the property and threw a cone at us and shut the gate! Okay may I just say it would've been different if we were all in the place when he said no going back and we decided to anyways. But that was very far from the case and not only did we not go back there neither did the family. They walked right by the gate that we couldn't even tell was there till he came out yelling. As full time RV'ers that is one of the most delightful campgrounds we have enjoyed. The owners are excellent in their helpfulness and willingness to serve their guests. This camp is well maintained, clean and quiet. We inquired at the office about car rental agencies, not only did they gives us a great referral, but also generously offered to drive us to the car rental agency, amazing people, great campground. This place will fill up in the summer, so I would suggest making reservations. read more
