We have had Custom Lawn Service spray our trees for bagworms for several years. A couple of years…read moreago their manager explained that they were having trouble reaching the top of the trees, so this became a concern that I wanted to pay attention to. We made arrangements for them to spray June 26th 2023 at 10 a.m., because we had other commitments earlier in the day. The sprayer showed up at 9 a.m. and explained that we were his last stop and he proceeded anyway. I asked him to pay additional attention to the tops of the trees while he was spraying, and he replied "You're not going to tell me how to spray. Find someone else to spray your trees", and then he drove off. The summary is that Custom Lawn Service is going to do things their way, and not pay attention to the customer's wishes or requests. They'll show up when they want to, not when you want them to, and they will be insulted if you ask them to do something. Stay away from these people if you have any idea at all that they are supposed to be working for you, and not the other way around.

From San Francisco, spending an enormous amount of time in Wichita for my work, we went ahead and bought a house in the tony neighborhood of Eastborough last October. With a half acre lot, and lots of trees, we had some fall cleaning to do to get rid of the fallen leaves, so we called Two Lawn Rangers this past January to do the job. They gave us a quote of $30/hour, but you would think that with all the experience they have they would eyball the job and say: "Hey this is a big job! It'll cost you more than a grand!" That disclosure would have made us rethink the provider. With neighbors telling us it should cost between $200 and $400 in TOTAL, the wife went ahead and gave the go ahead. We were thinking, "Jee, 10 hours plus materials should be enough right?" We got a bill for $1,200. Are you kidding me? Who does this without giving an estimate of total cost? Totally unprofessional. I paid $600 and told them to stuff it, and they threatened legal action. Nice. So I paid the balance. No sense sweating the small stuff. Fast forward to today, and we just got quoted $350 from a local provider to do the same job. Confirmation we got totally swindled by Two Lawn Rangers. Two Lawn Rangers charged us by zip code, stay the heck away from them. I suggest they change their name to Thugs Lawless Raiders.

I immediately told them not to worry about it and it can happen to anyone. I asked them for insurance and they GAVE ME A BUSINESS CARD, then dodged me for 1 week after I texted multiple times. I went to the police to file a police report then the owner called me saying I'm being rude and that they have insurance. Long long time later I found out that they did not have insurance ( FOR BEING A TREE SERVICE REALLY?? ) I had to pay $500 out of my pocket ( - my insurance, in total it was around $7,000 ) to fix my car and a new car seat.

I would not choose to do business with Rhoden Roofing again. In my experience, the process required…read moresigning numerous fine-print authorizations on the salesperson's laptop that effectively gave the contractor control over insurance payments and communications with my insurance company. I was repeatedly told not to worry because they would "take care of everything" and that my only responsibility would be paying the deductible. Several months later, after the company had already collected substantially more from the insurance carrier than I believed the work justified, I received what was described as a "final invoice." The document still did not include an itemized breakdown of charges, only a total amount due, and it included charges for work that I do not believe was completed. In addition Rhoden charges a 2.9% fee for using a debit card. Since Federal law makes it illegal to charge a processing fee for debit card transactions (Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act), Rhoden plays the word game to try to grab another dollar by calling the fee a "convenience fee". Hiring Rhoden Roofing was a decision I regret. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage homeowners dealing with storm damage or insurance claims to be extremely cautious about assigning insurance payments or claim authority to a contractor they do not know and fully trust. I also strongly recommend obtaining multiple detailed, itemized estimates from reputable roofing companies before signing any agreements or authorizations.
