I highly recommend Kocz Custom Painting. He repaired and painted a 3 floor staircase of an old building that was badly in need of repair. There was extensive patching to be done and he transformed the area from a place I used to cringe every time I used the stairs to a clean, attractive staircase. He runs the business side extremely well, also. Communication was perfect - letting me know each stage of the way how it was progressing, answering questions and replying to my requests. I called Dennis for a quote to scrape and paint ceilings. He called me straight back and was more than willing to make the 45 minute drive to come and give me a quote. In the end I decided against taking on the project but I think Dennis deserves a thumbs up for his attitude and the fact that no one else I called even bothered to ring back. BEWARE of Dennis! I hardly ever write reviews, but I felt so strongly about warning people of this painter I had to. There were so many things wrong that I am unable to list all, but let me say: overpriced and skimped on so much I am extremely upset. Just know that everything is extra. A bedroom is not just a bedroom. A closet is extra, trim is extra, and raised the price from the original estimate saying that he had to skim more of a popcorn ceiling stating: "ceiling drama" on bill. He will not put fixtures back up. All of my fixtures were left hanging by lightbulbs. I had a small wall, maybe a 3 ft section that was paneled in the hallway, that he just left until I pointed out that was part of the wall! He painted part of my ceiling with wall color and never came back to fix. Now I have to re-paint his mistakes. He was careless, rushed through the job, skimped by not painting entire rooms, closets, walls, or trim. I have never heard of a painter doing this! I was already paying him over $5,000. I feel I was taken for a ride. Do not believe this guy. I made a huge mistake and regret every bit of it. read more

Dennis went the extra step to patch any areas that needed it prior to painting. I was unable to move my bed away from the walls which wasn't a problem for him at all. It was even moved back for me when he was finished. All the rooms in the house look great and were completed in no time. It was so refreshing to have a friendly, courteous and professional painter come to the job, on time, finish within his quoted amount of hours and leave with a job very well done. Dennis is a non-smoker. Sometimes when people are in and out smoking, your entire house will start to smell like old smoke. Being a non-smoker, I like that I didn't have to deal with that. He was extremely neat. He made sure carpets were covered and when he left, there was no sign of having a painter there. Dennis Kocz is absolutely amazing! After a terrible paint job (by someone else), then loads of post-flood construction, he came in and repainted everything. Awful paint job. There are drips everywhere. Dennis refused to fix and charged me an arm and a leg!

Dennis did an excellent job painting our downstairs which included patching old plaster walls and scraping and priming old radiators. The radiators have never looked so good! We are very pleased with the quality of his work. He was very careful prepping areas that no paint was where it was not suppose to be-hardwood floors and wood trim. His prices were fair and he was always polite and courteous. I would highly recommend Dennis and plan to have him back to do varnishing to some wood trim. read more
