Recommend…read morereservations, but once again, we just showed up, and the manager says we could sit at the bar, that's our favorite place to sit anyway, in the middle of the sction Definitely appreciated the vibe here--classic rock playing in the background, not too loudly. Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! Highly recommend!

Lots of seats around the bar as well as bigger tables for larger groups. I ordered the classic normal ribs and a baked potato with garlic butter. The waitress described the regular vs smoke ribs and the regular sounded better. Didn't realize you get sliced bread and a slaw/salad with 2 sauces. It was a LOT of food. I did my best but couldn't come close to finishing it. The ribs were very good and the garlic butter baked potato was amazing! Definitely recommend.

The streets were packed with families and the boats in the harbor were all lit up. The restaurants were all filled to capacity but on our third try we were able to get seated at Fuego. Fuego is beautiful inside and all the tables face giant windows on the marina. You can also dine on the outside terrace. Even in the cold temperatures people were bundled up eating and drinking. From the service, drinks, and the food our experience was wonderful. The Long Islands were strong and packed a punch. We started with a bowl of creamy tomato and smoked paprika soup. It was excellent. Good flavor and consistency. From there we had the seafood trio. Wonderful presentation of cod, gamba (prawns), and salmon. The flavorful burre noisette sauce was excellent. The steak was expertly grilled with a nice medium rare center. We passed on dessert but decided on coffee before heading back into the cold. Our experience at Fuego was great, five stars!

We stopped for lunch at the Fuego Bar & Grill, a classy, upscale pub around the corner from the boardwalk, where vendors peddle classic Dutch kitsch such as wooden shoes, traditional costume photography, postcards and other tourist bait (although the almost-next-door Cheese Factory Volendam and attached museum is absolutely worth the price of admission; you will not walk away with out a few wedges!). While not exactly traditional Dutch cuisine (the menu is similar to an American seafood and steakhouse, with some regional European flair), the steaks here were juicy and cooked to order, and to perfection. Salad was crisp and not drowned in dressing, and fries were thick, steak-cut and golden brown. While you won't get any adventure points for branching out and trying something new and exotic, you will have a hard time finding a better restaurant in Volendam.

I did a lot of research to find a good fondue restaurant in Amsterdam and decided that Fondue &…read moreFondue was perfect for what I wanted. We had a reservation for 9 p.m. The server told us about a three-course menu where you can choose an appetizer, main course, and dessert for €35 per person. It sounded perfect, so we went with that. The fondue was amazing--generous servings and truly delicious. We couldn't even finish the main course because we wanted to save room for dessert. When dessert came, it was around 10 p.m, when the restaurant closes. No other guests had arrived after us, and the tables that were occupied before us were leaving, so we ended up being the last table. The server started cleaning up and resetting the tables, bringing in the outdoor signs, etc. It started to feel like we were being rushed out, which made us uncomfortable. When we asked for the bill, we noticed that "Tip not included" was circled at the bottom. I thought this was odd for Europe, as tipping isn't generally expected unless the service is exceptional. I ignored it, but when the server brought the card machine, he directly asked how much I wanted to pay. I immediately felt pressured to leave a tip, even though I didn't want to due to the rushed experience. I ended up tipping regretfully. The restaurant closes at 10 p.m., and our reservation was at 9 p.m. You are able to make reservations online until 9:45 p.m., so it doesn't seem fair to expect a table to leave in just an hour, especially when ordering a three-course meal and a bottle of wine. We were practically chugging the wine at the end. It was not a great dining experience, and I still feel uneasy about it. Just really not an experience you want to have when trying to have an enjoyable dinner. Quite a shame since the food was very good.
