But I liked it so much because of the architectural design of classic house built 17th century. The decor is gothic Parisian cafe. We started with appetizers -combo of fresh bread - cheese coquette with salad - lentil green pea soup Main dish - steak - salmon Dessert - chocolate lava cake - cheese cake My favorite was the dessert. It's actually pretty convenient if you're walking along Kalverstraat and looking for something quick and filling. I can't say for how they're like during normal hours though. For us, it was late and we'd been wandering all over the place trying to find something to eat that wasn't booked, closed, or has a mile-long waitlist. We came across this place by accident and it was between 't Pakhuis or Amsterdam Grill next door. There wasn't really anyone there at the time besides one or two other tables, and I ended up being pretty excited that they had satay. Indo-Dutch cuisine was something I wanted to try. It was just a bit unfortunate that I was the only one in my group who wanted to, but a delight nevertheless. The two negative points for us is that (1) the place is pretty dim at night and (2) all of our dishes were cool when it got to us. Lighting was low enough that we all took out our phones in order to read the menu and food was cool that I'm pretty sure they'd been left out to sit for a while. Not completely sure why they're essentially called the Warehouse Eatery(?), but it was good, hardy food and their main courses come with fries and a salad. The combo makes for a solid plate of food. A very warm and romantic eatery with just the right lighting and ambience that fits the city. The menu was great. We started with the Beetroot salad with goat cheese and apple. You could taste the apple and cheese instantly which in turn made the beets taste sweet and tart! It was a genius combination! There was nothing left when we finished...our main course were both equally as good. I had the risotto with Parmesan cheese and mushrooms. Cooked to perfection. It you want to sample smaller brewery beer, In de Buurt has a decent selection. I ordered the Beef Satay- pieces of beef on a skewer marinated with a coconut and peanut sauce. It was also coated with bread crumbs, peanuts, and peppers. The beef satay was poorly cooked, with some pieces being just right and the others were too hard and chewy. The sauce was too overpowering as well. Overall if it was cooked better and had a little less sauce, it would have been better. It looked good, but taste wasn't quite there. The big gripe here is the service and timing- the pub wasn't packed, yet everything moved way too slowly. It took almost 30 minutes to get my food. On top of that the servers were more preoccupied on their phones. In de Buurt is an option, but not the best option- if you see that there's space while everything else is packed, this is an option for you.
