Although I like the fact that many people havent discovered this place. It's great to know there are still places, even in a popular city like Bristol, that can happily churn out a successful business without many of the general public being aware of it's existance. I like noodle, I like eastern food, I like Orchid.

I have only had the one takeaway from here and I'm more of a curry man, but I would definitely come back here. My satay chicken could have been a bit saucier (with more sauce, not wearing high heels and doing a burlesque dance), but my crispy aromatic duck pancakes were perfect; I was served a good size (large) portion and the hoisin sauce was really thick and full of flavour. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, and I would go back just to be treated like that. I have to be honest about the restaurant itself, it is very 'modern' with wooden benches, white walls, lime green and yellow lights and some people might find this quite a cold environment to spend an evening in, possibly better for lunchtime. But I am told there is a slightly more intimate, dimly lit, 'date' section in the back; just in case they don't look like their photo.

Despite the delicious cuisine Thailand and other South East Asian countries have to offer, they seem to be somewhat underrepresented on Bristol's restaurant scene. I have no doubt that Thai Classic passes under the radar of many,i which is a mistake indeed. The restaurant has a tranquil atmosphere unusual for the road on which it is situated, I can't exactly imagine it being overrun by stag and hen dos at the weekend. All the staff are Thai and it is clearly authentic down to the very last detail. The food is perhaps not the greatest I've ever tried, but the recipes were tasty and well-executed. Thai Classic certainly isn't new or modern, if anything it reminds me of restaurants how they used to be when I was a little kid being shepherded round oriental eateries by my parents. What it is, however, is good quality, tasty food at very respectable prices with excellent service.

Inside is a very cosy little Asian eatery, specialising in Malaysian and Thai cuisine. There is an extensive menu for both, and also, set meals for each nationality of cuisine. I was particularly impressed by Thai set meal B, especially the garlicky pork dish. (to be honest I'm quite impressed by anything garlicky). Anyhow, I also found the service to be extremely smooth and friendly, making for an overall enjoyable eating experience.

With prices like that it's unsurprising that this is a bit of a student haunt, at least on the night I went along anyway. The Bristol uni hordes manage to fill up the three rooms and garden out the back, creating a proper buzz on a Friday night. They also make a long queue, which combined with the five pounds asked for some nights makes this place slightly less attractive that it otherwise would be. That the only criticism I can think of is because this place is popular should tell you that you won't be disappointed by a night out at Bunker.

On the other side I have been severely let down in the past. I will explain...... Situated near Clifton Triangle and Park Street, The Bunker nightclub is open 6 nights a week with drinks starting from £1, popular DJ's, 3 rooms and a very large smoking garden. The queuing can be quite ridiculous so make sure you do not get there to late. Music ranges from chart music to dance and drum and bass with a raised seating area and large dance floor. The toilets are fairly small so expect a queue. On one particular night, they had let in far too many people on the venues legal capacity resulting in a 'power cut', which then the venue turned very much into 'a war bunker' with emergency lighting and scared people. Magically all the staff swiftly disappeared and there was literally no-one to tell us what was happening. Everyone started to pile towards the stairs to leave and no joke I was almost crushed to death and £5 out of pocket from the entrance fee. I was not happy!
