Wow was I surprised. After our first excursion we couldn't help but to keep going back. I was looking for somewhere to get ramen and was treated with so much more. The ramen was very good, not great, but very good (I'm bias as I have eaten a lot of ramen). I have also had the miso which is also very good, some of the best I've had. The real treat here is the sushi. Definitely some of the freshest sushi I have ever had. I typically will eat sushi at least once a week and we have found our new spot. Everything from the rolls to the sashimi is melt in your mouth delicious. Sometimes Negev you order a roll somewhere you will get multiple small pieces packed in to the roll but not here. Each roll has a whole piece of fish in it and did I mention there are 8 pieces/ roll? I honestly could not be happier with the quality of food they put out. The one and only complaint that I do have is the selection of sushi/sashimi that they have, and I'm just being particular because I like a few things they don't have (I.e. No octopus, scallops, red snapper). I honestly cannot wait to go back and try many other things on the menu. Good job and keep it up! read more

This is my favorite place to get ramen- real ramen! It is small so if you are with a large party I wouldn't recommend going at peak times. Their sushi is great as well but I go for the ramen! This is a cute spot to go to on a date, whether with someone or by yourself, for take out, and just about any occasion. Was very pleased with an order of their tofu,sweet potato, and salmon avocado rolls I ordered for lunch as a recommendation from a coworker. I wasn't expecting the tofu to be fried but it was so tasty that didn't matter as much as I had hoped for them to be a little healthier Their sashimi salmon salad bowl (not sure what the name of it is really) was some of the freshest if not tastiest sashimi salads I've had since a visit to Japan last year (soon) and was a super decent portion. In fact, blindfolded, I probably would not be able to tell the difference between their chicken and pork. I bet if they used Cup Noodle ramen, even that would have more flavor. The sushi special roll *Koiro Lady, supposedly made of salmon, avocado, spicy mayo etc pretty much tasted like one single ingredient - a boiled potato, unsalted. First time here, I wanted to dine in but when I entered the only tables available were the 2 in the middle of the restaurant so I opted for takeaway. I ordered the Unagi Snow Roll with purple rice and two pieces of Ikura (Salmon Roe) Sushi. It took about 15-20 minutes as quoted, there was a small area to sit and wait so I stood in that area. Very small restaurant and the tables are basically on top of one another which is why I only gave this place 4-stars. Now as for the sushi, it was beyond delicious! All of the flavors stood out and nothing was overpowered by one single flavor. Very fresh and the purple rice was a nice (somewhat sweet) touch to my roll. The Ikura was perfect, not too fishy, it had the delicious oily salmon flavor that the roe is supposed to have. The ginger and wasabi were great, a beautiful color to both unlike some places that give it to you where it looks old and past it's expiration. The spicy mayo had a great balance of spiciness to creaminess. Would definitely come back again, next time I want to try the steamed pork belly buns and the noodle bowls! read more

Love the food! I went last Saturday with friends and I got the Bon Bom platter, House ramen with Pork Belly, and Red Bean ice cream. All the food was amazing and everyone enjoyed their meals as well. I've been to Koi Kokoro twice. On the first try it was a slight letdown with their sloppy sushi presentation and flavorless miso soup. However, I am a sushi fan and I did like their bulgolgi beef yutari bowl, so I wanted to give them a second try. For my second visit, I ordered a bottle of cold sake, two pork belly buns, the nizi rain roll, the kurogome beef roll, and a bowl of green tea ice cream. Typically in other sushi restaurants I've visited the servers will pour your sake for you or at least open the bottle: during my visit they did not. This was not a big deal to me but when you're paying extra for a nice drink or going out to dine at an establishment you would expect a little more from the service. The pork belly buns were AMAZING (in all caps to emphasize how delicious they were). Probably the highlight of my meal were those succulent, crunchy, juicy pork belly buns. For $9 you're getting two handfuls of heaven. The pork was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the scallions were refreshing to the bite, and the buns were soft and warm. If I were to return then I would definitely order more of those bad boys. The sushi rolls were hit or miss. The nizi rain roll tasted like a souped up california roll with the higher price tag, which I felt was a big disappointment. The kurogome beef roll was interesting: I did enjoy the flavor of the galbi bbq beef and the purple rice paired together. For $30 total I can't really say it's worth a repeat, but I am glad I did try them out. The green tea ice cream was...well just green tea ice cream. There wasn't much to it other than it being slightly dull in flavor. Other green tea ice creams I've eaten have had a sharper, more distinct flavor to them. Maybe this brand had more cream to dilute it? Not sure. I'd hold onto your money. Overall it was an average experience for me. Maybe it's because my taste buds have evolved over the years and my sushi palette has changed, but this sushi doesn't taste like the other sushi I've had recently. Sometimes too much creativity removes the identity in a dish and the flavors become diluted. A simple approach with the modern twist, like the pork belly buns, is the best approach in my opinion. Would I come back to Koi Kokoro? Definitely for the buns, but not for the sushi. read more

This place was VERY good. A lot of places cheap out on the California roll (either don't add avocado or don't add cucumber) but they used both with a good amount of crab. Spicy Mayo was also good which is important to me. Rock shrimp had plenty of shrimp and the sauce it came in was very good. The ramen soup was really good as well, nice size, well worth the money. What can I say? My husband and I love this place! I haven't had a sushi roll I didn't love, and the Lobster Bom Bomb is delicious! We also ordered edamame and they were so fresh and yummy. I highly recommend the Saiko Lobster roll, the tuna Maguro trio roll, the AOI sea roll and the Sakana finder, all phenomenal!!! The customer service was great, our waiter was very friendly and took her time to take care of us and make excellent recommendations. I enjoyed it all with a nice glass of Pinot noir. So I love Japanese cuisine and I'm always looking for a good Japanese restaurant and when I stumbled upon this place I absolutely fell in love. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the service was really good. I would highly recommend this to anybody who really loves Japanese cuisine or even just Asian cuisine. The restaurant is a bit small so it might get a little packed during dinner time and the only downside that I would comment about is nothing to do with the restaurant but the parking around the area is very tight it was very hard to find a parking spot. So if you go during dinner time just be prepared to look for a spot. Besides that each dish that I got had amazing flavor and made me want to be a return customer and tell all my friends about it! read more

So, I read the reviews and my friends raved about this place - tonight we decided to give it a try. So, this is not dine in, but delivery. Placed order at 530pm, the lady was nice enough and said since it was a busy friday night, it should be about an hour - no problem. We called back at 740pm asking where the food is to which the reply was "oh he just left" magically our food appeared in about 10 minutes after that. Total time was 2 hours and 20 minutes. They were nice on the phone, and the delivery driver apologized profusely stating how busy they were - no problem, I understand. It's what came next that immediately sent me here. I literally walked away from the table in disgust to come write this review. I will attach a number of pictures which speak for themselves - but i'll indulge just a tad. First and foremost, I have no idea what happened to the platter. We ordered a "party platter" which is 76 pieces. It looked like someone was playing Yahtzee with the food. Everything tumbled everywhere, half of a roll on one side, others upside down in the middle. Insides became outsides. The icing on the cake here, which was buried under a pyramid of miss matched sideways and upside down rolls - was the ginger, wrapped in slimy saran wrap. I pulled it out, glistening, and it reminded me of something i'm not going to mention here. Absolutely disgusting. $15 being the average price for the special roll - they should be appalled. I attached a picture of what was described as this; KUDAMONO SHIRIMP - (IN) SHRIMP TEMPURA, AVOCADO, SPICY CRAB SALAD (ON TOP) FRESH BANANA, WRAPPED IN SOYBEAN PAPER, SERVED W. MANGO AIOLI, LEMON WHITE SAUCE, TERIYAKI SAUCE. Take a look, its the yellow soybean paper wrapped one. A piece of fried shrimp about 2/3 the size of my pinky nail, crowned with what appeared to be banana flavored jello, covered in a myriad of other assorted goodies from the other seperate rolls on the platter - I don't know where anything else was, and it was double wrapped with rice - like how a chinese buffet would serve "sushi". The salmon was more fat then fish, the tuna was a sickly off white purplish shade, like I said, the pictures speak for themselves. It's now 830pm, I have no edible dinner, and i'm out $100. They gained a star for being polite, otherwise - never again. read more

Just tried this place for the first time. My mother and I got ramen and it was delicious ! There are only two types or broth, pork and spicy miso. I would have liked the option of miso broth or soy broth like I find at other places. I would give this place 5 stars but our waitress made me take away a star. She was always on her phone. Took her forever to give us our food. It was very hard to get her attention. When she delivered our receipt she practically threw the book thing which flipped my chopsticks across the table. One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Before poke bowls started becoming popular all over the island, I was excited to come here for their Yutari bowls which are similar - just a tad more basic. Still - they are flavorful and filling! I've also had the tuna pizza (good), avocado bon boms (good), and the fried fish and kimchi steamed buns (omg so good). They can get really busy in the evening and they wouldn't take a reservation for just the two of us. Service can be a bit slow at these times but overall, we've had great experiences. I've also ordered takeout over the phone and it's always been ready and right. We'll be back! read more

Just came here for lunch. Wanted to write this review when it is fresh in my mind. Service: perfect. Our waitress was helpful. They remembered what I wanted to exclude from my dishes Atmosphere: typical of a Japanese restaurant Food: below average. While some ingredients were exceptional such as the fish for the sushi and sashimi dishes, the execution in basic principles of Japanese cuisine were lacking. - the rice was hard. I think undercooked. However the rolls were done well in that the rice was not too compact. -the ramen was sad. There was nothing good about it. We got the pork ramen. The chashu was extremely dry. The broth lacked depth of flavor. The noodles were well the refrigerated ramen that you can get at an Asian supermarket. All in all, I can see this restaurant being better if these flaws are fixed. I love the sushi flight idea. I would recommend getting sashimi or anything without rice here for fans of raw fish. But unfortunately for the reasons above I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi here. The fish had a buttery smooth texture and the meat to rice ratio was perfect. I ordered the AOI and Nizi speciality roles and a few standard sushi rolls. All of it was fairly good, but the specialty roles did not really stand out compared to the regular roles. Not sure if it was the Nizi or AOI that had a slightly off putting flavor.
