This green space was gorgeous and full of trails and the honey took a quick (and cold) dip in the lake before our main course which was located on one of the picnic tables scattered throughout the park. All in all, I highly recommend making the trek to explore it if you're visiting Oslo, because it's absolutely breathtaking.

The crowds…read moreon the train thinned out quite a bit and there was maybe a dozen of left to walk through the downpour and up to the entrance of the ski jump and museum. Admission was included in the Oslo Pass and was one of the more unique offerings. If one comes back in the winter then you can experience ski jumping for yourself. As part of the museum admission we did to ride to the viewing platform at the top of the ski jump and took in the almost 360 degree views. We also got an almost direct view down the ski jump. Personally not for the faint hearted but a very unique experience. Inside the museum they included a good variety of exhibits from medalists, evolution of Holmenkollen since its founding, history of skiing equipment and sport, a kiddie section, a ski making shop and more. There also were two interactive exhibits to test how much you could pull, as in a sled, and a skiing competition. A large gift shop was by the exit along with a ski jump simulator ride (separate fee). Well worth it. A Scandic hotel was located practically next door if one want to spend more time.

Kings and trees…read more Palace Park is a unique and cool park that is literally built around the royal place in Oslo. It was open to the public back in 1847 by King Oscar I, two years before the royal palace was completed. It's been open to the public year round ever since. The park is over 50 acres with the massive palace dominating the center of the park. Since the palace is on a hill it has some nice views of the surrounding area. The rest of the park has walking paths, statues and lots of trees and flowers. Most of the trees were planted back when the park was new and are huge and lovely. The park today is more open than it was in the past and has less trees and green areas, probably because there are far more people using the park today. The park is fascinating not only because of the cool statues, trees, greenery and royal guards, but because you can get right up to the royal palace. A very cool park to walk around, explore and get a glimpse of Norwegian royal history.

By beaches Drøbak is worth mentioning: Waterpark, Parr beach, Torkild Beach and Skiphelle. It is also known as elf village and has a significant tourism. The town has many picturesque old houses. Many of them are living trailers from the late 1600s onwards. The many art galleries , boutiques and exhibitions attract many visitors to the city during the summer. Then square and especially the beach full of people. The city also has Santa's post office. By The park is Drøbak church , called the Church of Our Saviour, which was inaugurated on 29th October 1776 . The church is inspired by the Church of Our Saviour in Christiania, the current Oslo Cathedral . The church is architecturally quite an attraction. Rococo in wood. Get these churches remain. This is by my most memorable and favorite location in Oslo. In order to get to this town, you must take a ferry/boat. We took the boat located in Aker Brygge. Pricing reasonable and on the way to Drobak, you go to through small fjords, view beautiful boats and homes in the areas and many more. A must visit.

Floating jetties right in the fjord allow you to have a safe and enjoyable swimming experience right in the ocean, whilst being in the heart of the city. For the children, there is a beach with sand and shallow water, and for adults, you can dive directly into the deeper water off the jetties. There is also a Olympic sized lap area, which even though there are many people that visit the bathing area, most don't use the lanes/lap pool area. So if you are looking for a place to do laps, without many people in your lane, this is the place to go. The best part about all of these bathing areas, is that is completely free! Every time I have been there, a lifeguard has been present at the bathing area. Café's restaurants and a supermarket are all within walking distance, grab yourself, a drink, coffee or ice-cream on a hot day.
