We were here for the Tour de France and Basecamp was our go-to for the few days we vacationed in the French countryside. This cute coffee shop is located in Talloires. They are also a wonderful bike shop! The coffee is delightful but it was the scenery and ambiance that just take your breath away. The owners and workers are the nicest. We loved this cafe so much we bought shirts. :)

We didn't have a reservation, so they had us sit outside (near the goat pen). It was a little chilly -- bring a jacket, or, like the family next to us, a couple of blankets. We had raclette and cheese fondue, so we were warmed by the apparatus of both. And the heavenly taste of melted local cheese and wine, crusty bread, white wine, potatoes, and a simple and delicious green salad. Finally, for dessert, we had the lemoniest lemon sorbet EVER with vodka poured over it. It was all so delicious and welcoming and beautiful.

It's a hidden gem! We drove around the lake and most of the hotels are across the street but we found this one by accident and it's lakeside. I couldn't be happier staying here and our dinner was so superb that the chef must have a Michelin star and if he doesn't, then the Michelin inspectors need to dine here asap! If you're ever in southeastern France, this place is a must.

They served a creamed carrot amuse-bouche that was wonderful, especial with my Veuve Rose. Then I had tuna tartare, local fish fillet, and an exotic fruit and chocolate mousse dessert. Everything was delicious! I think it's quite expensive so we probably wouldn't have gotten that much if it wasn't included. Such a picturesque place on lake Annecy! Would highly recommend it!
