The curry fish balls and peanut cheung fun were very close to how it tastes in Hong Kong (just missing the sweet chili sauce for the cheung fun). And we also got the chicken chop instant noodles. I decided to give Kong Sihk Tong another chance since the last time I came I didn't think it was worth revisiting, but have heard high praises from a lot of people. I'm sad to say I still share the same opinion I did 2 years ago when I first went. This time I went to the flushing location and the decor and space is nice and large. Salt & pepper squid: This was my favorite and I enjoyed it a lot. However, there's many restaurants you can get this at for just as good and have other stuff that I can order when I go. If I come here I'd probably only want this dish, which isn't worth going here to get 1 dish. Fried fish fillet: This was solid! It met expectations on what I thought it would be like. Baked fried rice with pork chops: I think you can skip this dish, or choose another sauce base. We chose tomato and I love cooked tomato-based anything, but this one tasted really artificial (even more than ketchup). The pork was tender, but the sauce was too overpowering for me to enjoy it. Golden lava toast: Everyone always says this is a must order, but I think it's okay and I wouldn't get it again. Perhaps I'm not a fan of the dish in general. I think it's too heavy, oily, and gets palette fatigue quick. Beef chow fun: I was really disappointed with this one. It was bland. Spaghetti bacon & mushroom with truffle sauce: i would say this was my second favorite dish and is unique. Worth a try! I don't think the flavor profiles would be something I would crave. I think I'm in the minority of my friends who really like Kong Sihk Tong. One of my new favorite places for lunch. The atmosphere and overall vibes of the restaurant were great and I love the trendy concept. The staff were all nice and attentive. It was our first visit to Flushing's Chinatown. After a hearty dim sum brunch and a long walk in the busy streets, we're ready for some Hong Kong milk tea at a cafe (茶餐廳). We got here around 2:00pm and the place was packed. We waited about 20 minutes before a table was available. For beverages we got of course the Hong Kong milk tea, both hot and iced, and also a mixed drink of milk tea and coffee (yuenyeung 鴛鴦). We loved the milk tea, which was aromatic, rich, and creamy, like what good hk milk tea should be. I'm from Hong Kong so I know how a legit milk tea tastes. For snacks we got the staple Hong Kong pastries: a pineapple bun and French toast. Both were delicious! The pineapple topping was sweet and crusty, and the bread was nice and fluffy. The French toast was fried golden yellow. It came with condensed milk, which was an alternative to syrup. We loved the peanut butter in between. The hint of saltiness gives a delicate balance to the sweetness of the condensed milk. We also ordered their fried chicken wings, just to have something savory to go with the sweet pastries. The wings were very tasty too! This place has a lot more to offer than just beverages. There are also typical lunch items. Since we still had plenty of dim sum in our belly, we passed them up this time. The service was better than I would expect. Wanted to eat at a cha chaan tang while in town and saw this place which looked convenient. Parked here for 2 hours and was charged only $9 at check out which was fair. Once parked, you take an elevator up to the small indoor complex which also houses a Maxim bakery. Service was perfunctory, we went off peak on a weekday mid morning and still had to wait a bit. The staff doesn't optimize seating as well as it could (for example, our party of 6 was forced to wait for a booth, when a table could have been pushed together to seat us sooner , a single party that arrived later than us managed to snag a whole booth unnoticed , etc). I had two bowls of wonton noodle soup and there was a generous portion. I could instantly tell the noodles were freshly handmade instead of the prepackaged dried noodles before I even took the first bite. The noodles did not disappoint as it was springy with excellent taste and texture. The wontons had a hint of sesame oil flavor and was a mixture of pork and shrimp. The broth was also rich in flavor. The restaurant was clean with amazing artwork that reminds you of life back in Hong Kong during the good days. The Golden Lava French Toast was TO DIE for. The melted custard inside was so delicious. The French toast was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. 10/10 for real. I want to try the sesame one next! The breakfast items come with a complimentary beverage and I got the milk tea which I also really enjoyed. The prices are extremely reasonable for such a filling and tasty breakfast. The service was prompt and friendly. They checked on us multiple times and offered a complimentary hot herbal tea as well. I love coming here! The staff are so friendly, and I feel right at home whenever I visit. As someone who's been to Hong Kong and loves Hong Kong food, this is probably one of the closest cafes that feels authentic. First off, I always get their Hong Kong milk tea - so on point. This tasted good; better than the avocado scrambled egg on toast that I also tried. Actually... didn't like the avocado toast at all. The avocado is mixed with some other ingredients, making it more easily spreadable, like mayo. You get a thin layer of it, then it's topped with scrambled eggs. I found it to be rather bland. I would pass on this. I wanted to try the spaghetti with bacon and mushrooms in truffle sauce but this is an entree and only breakfast items and sandwiches can be ordered before 11am. Decor: Some nice booth seating on the side. Some tables are pretty close together. It's in one of the newish buildings, so its kinda modern looking. Parking: there is free parking at the indoor garage, right around the corner. Very convenient! Just remember the parking is only free for 1 hour. I thought it was a fun meal, the menu is pretty out there, to be honest. It's fusion all the way and some makes sense, some doesn't. I would say the highs were really high but the lows were just ok, but one dish was pretty boring and plain. The food: Lava French Toast- I was really shocked how much I liked this dish. For most people in my group, many said this was their number one. Truffled, Bacon, Mushroom Spaghetti- I wasn't expecting to see a dish like this here but it was made well. The dish had good flavor, how can you go wrong with bacon and truffle oil? Corned Beef Egg Sandwich- This really surprised me how much I liked this. It was easy and pedestrian but it was so comforting and good. Curry Fishball- I really liked the flavor of the curry on this dish but the fish balls themselves were kinda meh. XO Stir-fried Noodles (sub Pork Rib)- So I really enjoyed the flavor of this dish but it came off so incredibly oily! My god, the noodles were swimming in the oil. I felt i could have drained all the oil from this dish to make a brand new dish. Pork Chop Baked Rice (tomato sauce)- I was really eager to try this dish but sadly it looked better than it tasted. First thing that smacks you in the face is the sweet tomato sauce, like in a Jollibee kind of way, then the pork chop isn't memorable then the rice just happens to me there. This dish was disappointing but it would be great for kids. Macaroni Soup with Egg & Spam- This dish made me sad. It literally tastes like nothing. I know this is a common dish in HK but I had no interest eating anymore after the first bite. The broth is flavorless, the noodles were flavorless, the spam wasn't noticeable and it also didn't make any sense to me to add a sunnyside up egg on top of soup. The SPAGHETTI WITH BEEF IN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE came out first as it was the simplest to make. As the name states, its just spaghetti in a black pepper sauce with super tender beef. Simple but delicious. The GOLDEN LAVA FRENCH TOAST is a salted egg yolk style melty filling stuffed inside a french toast, topped with a pad of butter. The filling was super melty and rich and flavorful. French toast was made to perfection. Outside crispy, inside soft. SUPER delicious ! Melted cheese over a sweet/savory tomato sauce on top of sliced BONE IN pork chop on a bed of fried rice. I was a little worried about how'd i'd like this because I ate this style of stuff a lot during a childhood visit to HK but I had loved this dish. The Portuguese sauce is my personal favorite but my friends also enjoy the white sauce. I love how the sauce coats every strand of spaghetti and grain of rice. The meat is juicy and perfectly cooked. You definitely can't go wrong with the Hong Kong French toast either. They have a specialty here called golden lava French toast where it's filled with salted egg yolk, perfection! Speaking of salted egg yolk, one of my favorite dishes is the jumbo prawn salted egg yolk fried rice. The dish has the most amazing aroma and the shrimp is coated perfectly in salted egg yolk. The grapefruit chicken wings were a sweet and tangy treat. I enjoyed them a lot but just pricy for the size. TLDR: If you're in Downtown Flushing and looking for a HK fix, KST has you covered. So many options. Don't sleep on the Cheesy Instant Noodle section. Having just came back from HK, was looking to scratch the itch. I've had takeout from the Chinatown location but never actually sat in. This last trip got the curry fish ball, XO sauce stir-fried instant noodle with pork chop, bacon/mushroom cheesy instant noodle, satay beef instant noodle, baked tomato pork chop rice, toast with condensed milk and peanut butter. The fish balls were flavorful, the thick curry sauce adhered to the outside quite well. The stir-fried XO instant noodle was good, plenty of vegetables to give a refreshing crunch. The favorite though was the cheesy instant noodle with the bacon/mushroom. Oh - this might become a guilty pleasure to indulge every once in awhile. It's rich and it is heavy AF but damn delicious. Think alfredo sauce but instant noodles - so good. Ask for the chili oil to help balance out that richness. The satay beef instant noodle was solid. Second time here and honestly everything i've tried here for the most part were very good and executed well. Items i've tried so far: Borscht soup (this was ok a little tart) Hk style milk tea (good) Hk style coffee and milk tea (good) Beef chow fun (good, nice wok hei) Golden Lava toast (must order!) Salty duck egg fried rice with shrimp (must order!) Tomato and garlic wings (skip) Baked fried rice with pork chop with black pepper sauce (must order!) Sesame lava french toast (must order!) I came here with a friend after playing a tournament. The food was reinvigorating. The service was fast and quick. The surrounding reminded me of a hk cafe. My only complain is that they are cash only. Baked Portuguese chicken over rice Taste like a cheese curry chicken It has a wait time of 20 mins but it's totally worth the wait It consists of mixed vegetables potatoes and chicken It's was super filling and worth the price Fried chicken We got this to try there and there was only 5 chicken wings The chicken was crispy and juicy I would not recommend to get for the table since there is so little Soup I would recommend putting the white pepper and vinegar The soup itself is thick and strong mushroom flavor It was very nostalgic for me which was why I ordered it I would recommend getting it to try Overall the food was great, the service was gray and the ambiance was great. Favorite place to go with friends. Food is always delicious; difficult to get seats at times, but worth it!

HK style cafes are one of my favorite places to eat comfort food for very reasonable and affordable prices. I definitely didn't leave disappointed or hungry. I actually ended up having to take home leftovers as there was just so much food in their portions which is great for the prices! Not pictured but highly recommend ordering the baked rice/spaghetti dishes. Those classics are classics for a reason. read more
