Koreatown is probably my favorite place to get Korean food in the Phoenix area. The portion sizes are on the bigger side, so it definitely feels like you get a lot of value for your money when you eat here. The staff is very friendly, very attentive, and very quick. Be warned it can very packed here on the weekends and you might have to wait, even if you are a solo party. It's a good atmosphere overall and I look forward to continuing to eat the delicious banchan here my next visit. I recommend the hot stone bulgogi or any of the soups they offer. read more

The food is good, but not exceptional. The kimchi stew I had lacked depth; while they used very aged kimchi, the sourness overwhelmed the other umami flavors. We hadn't been here in a while and I guess they have a new manager/owner because the menu looked different. Their side dishes were very delicious and I could tell they put a lot of effort into each dish. We tried two of their soups (see photos) which are not often found in other Korean restaurants nearby. It was really delicious and satisfying, especially when it was chilly outside. We also shared the acorn jelly salad. It was tasty and refreshing, but not as good as my mom's. Delicious & Moderately priced with an environment great for large groups. When you walk in, you're introduced by the scent of Korean hot pot and Korean BBQ. You immediately know that they have great food here. We came on a Sunday after an evening event and the restaurant was not super busy, but still bustling with customers going in and out. We chose to sit in the KBBQ section. if you sit there, they require you to order KBBQ dishes, but you can also soup. We ordered the seafood hot pot, a small KBBQ platter, sides of wings, and banquet noodles. They say it is good for 2-3 people, but it felt like it was good for more people. We ate more than we could handle and it felt like we had enough for two full meals for 6 people. Service was phenomenal as well, they were super attentive and helpful. read more

I was amazed by this place a few years ago and still amazed by their food! I heard they reopened with a different concept and the food is delicious! Be ready for lots of spicy options! There are different combos. In my opinion, small combo can definitely feed more than 2-3 people. Small Combo comes with side dishes, rice, steamed egg soufflé, house salad, corn cheese, option of intestine hotpot or seafood hotpot, option of banquet noodles or spicy noodles, option of bean paste soup or kochi stew and bingsoo. Honestly there were so much food, and the food just kept coming since we forgot everything that were included in the combo! Amazing deal to share with the group!! Soft tofu soups were delicious!! Spicy squid was good, but so spicy so let them know if you want a little less spice. Chicken wings were delicious and you can get the sauce on the side to have it more crispy!! I was disappointed with the seafood hotpot. The soup tasted okay compare to tofu soup and also the udon egg noodles was just not that great. It was huge though! Staff is super friendly! I have been looking for the hotpot mecca, and this is it! I love Korean food and this place is my new go to spot! The staff was friendly, we were greeted as we entered and seated promptly. Our drink orders were taken within a few minutes of sitting down and served quickly. The only negative is that they didn't have Korean beer or any beers on tap. Ironic that they only had Japanese beers. A nice waitress came and took our order, she was friendly and kind. We came for the purple rice, but unfortunately they were out. We ordered two tofu pots, and a tofu hot stone plate, and two large beers. Free appetizers but also ordered edamame. Total price for 3 people $71... nice! This is my new place. Another Homerun evening by Koreatown My family was in town visiting and I brought them to one of Mesa's hidden gems: Koreatown When you are looking for authentic Korean cuisine to share with friends and family, you need to come to Koreatown. This is my third time ordering from them and they are consistent in their quality & taste. Bone soup with Brisket - this was for my grandma who was sick and she devoured it! I tried some and it hit the spot with having deep umami flavors along with quality protein Hot stone bulgogi - this was the star and everyone loved the fresh flavors Spicy potato noodle - this is one of my wives favorite and she normally does not like cold noodles. The blend of spices and flavor bring out the essence of the noodle Chicken fried rice - another favorite of the table and honestly would never have ordered it! Coming from California prices, the value here is absolutely mind-boggling. THE highlight: The BBQ combo for ~$100 is easily $100 worth of meat a la carte. But then take a look at what else the combo includes, and it is an insane deal. You get a steamed egg, a hot pot, a noodle dish, and a soup. They have a lot of different banchan available, and you can ask for other items that they might not have brought to your table. Highlights: For the most part, all of the food was delicious. The menu is very extensive and there's a lot of variety. We are really happy with the portion size for family-style eating with big groups and would definitely come again. Lowlights: They didn't ask for spicy level on any of the dishes and some of our table found the soups too spicy. I thought it was strange that the menu requests that each person order a meal and when we asked they said the portions were only enough for one person. When we got our food, they could have easily been shared and served family style. Really disappointed...I use to come here every few months and the food was always what truly had me going back. The service was still as kind and welcoming as always. However the food has gone down in flavor and quality SIGNIFICANTLY. We ordered a stew with ribs and veggies and it was flavorless, the ribs were tough, and the broth was decent. There was an order of beef and it was dry, missing flavor, and poorly cooked. The menu is half the size it use to be, no seafood, and the drinks menu is also limited in terms of alcohol or mixed drinks. What use to be a place for amazing food with friends and family has turned into a let down. I'm never going back and its so sad :( read more

I had my birthday dinner here last night with my closest family. We ended up ordering almost the whole menu because last time I remembered the portions are a little smaller here. I didn't think it would be big so we had some leftovers to take home which isn't bad.. It's been hard for me to cook lately as a new parent with a newborn.. Service here was amazing. Andrew was our server. I love how he checked on us often. Asked us how's everything, if there's anything else we need, and what else can he do for us.. He didn't check on us just once or twice but so many times. That's what a good server is all about. He made my birthday feel more special.. My family and I enjoyed our dinner here and we will definitely come back and look for Andrew.. They also have options if you want to cook your kbbq or not. The rooms are split which was nice because we didn't want to cook. It was safe for my newborn to come here since most kbbq places you have to cook and it's too smoky which isn't good for my baby.. Ktown has come a ways from what they were just a few years ago, and that's a good thing. Whenever I'm craving Korean food, Ktown is in the small mix of options available in Maricopa County. During my most recent visit, I got their 갈비 (BBQ Short Ribs) and 육개장 (Spicy Brisket Soup with Vegetables). The portions at this restaurant is well worth the price you pay. Both dishes came with rice and plenty of refillable side dishes. The Short Ribs were meaty, flavorful, and perfect with a spoonful of rice and kimchi. The soup can probably be shared among 2-3 people. It had a good amount of kick, blistering hot when served, and packed with a good balance of meat and vegetables--all the way I like it served. The restaurant itself is spacious and perfect for both small and big parties. The staff is attentive, kind, and quick. The table we sat at wasn't 100% clean, but with the size of these tables, I'm not surprised some areas were missed. My biggest issue with with Ktown is two things: 1. There's a fine little 3.5% service fee on your receipt, which I'm guessing is for processing a credit card. They should make you aware of this charge, especially when your bill is large. I understand the gratuity for large parties, but this unexpected 3.5% fee seems uncalled for. 2. The bathroom needs better maintenance--I shouldn't have to unwind toilet paper by hand when the roll should be in the toilet paper dispenser. Overall, I'll always consider Ktown when I crave Korean food, but I may pick other Korean restaurants more often now that I am aware of this 3.5% fee. read more

I am working around the area this week and was craving some spicy pork bulgogi. In my hometown, there's a spot that serves the best spicy pork bulgogi I have had. I have been all over the country and have tasted the bulgogi, nothing has come close until today. The spicy pork bulgogi here has lots of flavor, not too spicy and the onions were very soft and soaked with the juices. I DISLIKE onions with a passion. If I see an onion it will ruin my meal. Well, just when I thought I was avoiding the onions, I had a chop stick with a tiny slice of pork and a ton of onion. It was really good! The only side dishes I had were the broccoli and cucumbers. I also ordered an extra side of noodles. Everything was good and will definitely be added to my list of restaurants to visit while I am back in Phoenix read more

I had the privilege to spend some time in South Korea and this reminded me of the dining experience while I was there. The portion sizes are fair for the price and they have amazing banchan (side dishes) that change with the seasons. I honestly love coming here for the atmosphere and amazing hospitality from the staff. I usually do the north side of the restaurant for the soups and other special dishes but if you are a fan of KBBQ you can also enjoy a open grill experience here as well on the south side of the restaurant. Wanted to try this place out for dinner for the longest time and finally made it in. We were seated after a few minutes and the server didn't take long to come on over. We had a few questions about the menu and he had no idea what we were talking about. He went and got help. He came back and let us know. (we wanted to know what came with certain dishes since the menu was a little confusing) He took our order down and then asked us again what it was we were ordering. He waked away, went to the computer and then came over again to ask us what we wanted. It was super strange.... (I'm thinking maybe he had gone on a stroll, saw the door open, and said oh let me know tend some tables for fun) We waited close to 40 minutes and were happy to see that a different server was coming with our food. She set down our plates and to our surprise it was not what we had ordered, omg... We told her that wasn't our food and she just grabbed the plates and walked back to the kitchen. No sorry, no nothing. We waited 30 more minutes until our correct food arrived. The food was a disappointment. My pork belly was drier then a person who has been walking around barefoot for 100 years. It had NO flavor what so ever. My steamed egg was bland, not a fan. The sides tasted funky. This place is a hard pass for me. The service sucked and the food is a no. The inside is big and has potential to be a much better restaurant. I've been coming to koreatown for the past few years and came with my family twice recently. The first time we tried some of the noodle dishes. My mom and I got the spicy brisket knife cut noodles while my dad got the knife cut noodles with seafood. Both tasted good but just a heads up that the brisket noodles were REALLY spicy and I was sweating half way through. But still thought it was delicious and I'd get it again. The portions were also large and I took like half of the noodles home. I had a taste of the seafood knife cut noodles too which were good and contained a very generous portion of various seafoods like mussels, shrimps, squid, etc. We then came another time to try the korean bbq and got the small combo which lets you pick 3 different meats for $99 as well as various side dishes. We got the beef brisket, short rib, and ribeye steak and the side dishes consisted of the banchan, rice, salads, steamed egg, corn cheese, spicy cold noodles, a seafood soup, a soybean paste soup, and a shaved ice dessert at the end. So, there was literally a TON of food and I think it was super worth it. We also ordered the raw marinated crab since we had seen a lot of people eating it the last time we came, and it was about $35 for a fairly large portion. The crab was a blue crab so the legs were a bit small and difficult to eat. The flavor though was delicious and spicy, and the crab is really tender. As for the kbbq meats, I thought the beef brisket was just okay but I enjoyed the ribeye and short rib meats. The sides dishes were really good too especially the soups. Overall, the food was quite good but I think a problem with the restaurant is that the ventilation is not great for a barbecue restaurant. I have been to a lot of kbbq places but this was the only time where the smoke is just everywhere and almost blurs your vision lol. Because of this, I'm not sure if I'd come back for the korean barbecue but I will definitely be back to try other dishes! read more

I had a great dining experience here! We got the whole fried chicken and it was so delicious. We split it between two people and we definitely had leftovers to take home! It's super crunchy, but the meat is still tender, and the soy garlic sauce on the side was a great addition. There's a great variety of banchan and they were all really good and unique. Unfortunately I only took one video and no singular pictures but omg this place is 5/5 stars no question. We got the japchae, kimchi pancake, bulgogi, galbi, chicken fried rice, dumpling soup and calamari. Everything was hands down incredible, it was some of the best calamari I've ever had, perfectly breaded and huge pieces. All of the meat we had was tender, juicy and perfectly marinated. I've never had a kimchi pancake and it was incredible! I wish I could remember our server's name but he was so kind, attentive and delightful.
