We came here in December for a family nature day at the Magical Christmas Forest at Kortright. We took a short walk along Coyote Alley and Marsh Trail. Snack food and beverages were available to buy on site courtesy of Peter & Paul's Hospitality Group. Offerings available were soup, fries, poutine, burgers, chicken fingers, mac & cheese, wraps, cookies and chips. Warm apple cider, "spiked" warm apple cider for the adults, pop, juice, coffee, tea, espresso, beer, red or white wine. The Gift Shop is great for buying Maple Syrup. So many varieties to choose from. Great place to bring the kids for some good old fashioned family fun outdoors! Many different easy walking trails to explore. Great activity with the kids. Ample pay parking. An item of interest, on our walk we stumbled upon the Raptors enclosure and saw Eagles, Hawks, Falcons and Owls. Mindful not to disturb them. The enclosure was built by The Canadian Peregrine Foundation, dedicated to the restoration and recovery of endangered and threatened raptors (birds of prey) here in Canada. These birds need your help raising funds to build a new home for the birds who are non-realisable and used to conduct wildlife education programs in Canadian Elementary schools. They've secured a new location and signed a 10-year lease, but they need help with their building fund and welcome tax-deductible donations to the Canadian Peregrine Foundation. In my adventures in this area of Ontario for fall photos, I was recommended this location and it was a better then average visit. when getting to the gates, I was asked if I had a reservation(due to covid they had appointment based timings to regulate traffic coming in and out of this conservation area) I was able to book my reservation in the driveway of the park, and I had to wait less then 10 minutes for my time slot (2 hours) when my time was ready, I pulled up to the booth, and the lady confirmed me into the system, gave me a map, and wished me a good day/hike. I came here for a certain trail, and unfortunately when I got to the trail, it was closed for renovations, I was a bit annoyed with this situation, as at the time of my visit at the park, no mention was made on the website or from the lady at the check in booth. so I walked back to pick two other trails, which were Lookout Trail & Forestry Trail. the lookout trail was great, but the lookout was nothing to brag about, a great deal of space and thought went into this lookout, but the view is obstructed with trees and you can barely see anything that the lookout has to offer. the forestry trail was great, there is a section of trees that are just planted perfectly in rows and rows, which made my photos absolutely pop and stand out. finally at the end of my hikes, I dumped all my camera equipment into the car and I was able to use the washroom facilities, which was great to wash my hands and warm up a bit, as my day of visit was a damp and cooler day. looking back on my visit, it had more positives then negatives, the map that they handed out and is physically online has the lookout trail on the map and legend is orange, but when you look at the hiking trail details its listed as dark blue, I also had to let the lady at the check in station know that a tree fell down, blocking the path from accessibility standpoint on the lookout trail parking is on site, and admission to the park won't break the bank would definitely come back to explore the other trails. read more

We made it on the last day of the maple syrup festival at the Kortright Centre on Sunday, April 10, 2022. We made a great time! There were tree and maple syrup facts posted on the trees that were easy and fun to read. The trail was nice (wear comfy shoes!) and there were stations with people talking about the history and the process of making maple syrup. Along the trail were buckets that you can check to see where the syrup comes out but because we were at the end of the season, we only found a little bit in a few buckets. We followed the maple syrup trail and the length it is was perfect for us. At the end, there's a play area for the kids to enjoy. There's a shop where you can buy all things maple (the lollipops are a hit!) and kitchen to order pancakes as well. We really enjoyed our time here! read more

Hi Yelpers! This was a lovely venue for a wedding. The vibe was very green. I can imagine all the decorations you can use here to make it fairytale like. The staff were awesome in terms of good manners. When they served hors d'oeuvres, the service was great and the food just kept on coming out. The vegetable pakoras, mini potato latkes, mini chicken waffles, and crispy Mac and cheese. All were good. As for dinner, we all had salad as a starter which to me was way too healthy. Maybe more in the vinaigrette. Next was soup to which we all had lentil soup with chilli oil. Main course for me was a lovely AAA Striploin Steak which was medium well done. In the dish was atleast 4 baby potatoes, mushrooms and other vegetable. For dessert, I had a lovely classic cheesecake. Overall, the food was good, not amazing but good. read more

Absolutely appalled! Attended a wedding at Kortright. Washroom facilities only on one floor of the venue making it very difficult for guests. There is plenty of space to create additional washroom facilities in the lower /first floor. It should definitely be considered. When we left the venue at 11pm, there were NO LIGHTS to lead us to the parking lot. Many older guests were extremely worried about falling on the uneven terrain. This was beyond dangerous and a liability for Kortright. Shame on this venue for not making guest's safety paramount. read more

2.5 years ago I got married here and it was a great wedding. There was a chance for a bit of rain so we got married in the Glass House which was a great decision. Cocktails were in the Forest Gallery afterwards and dinner was upstairs in the main area because we had close to 150 people. The food was all great and so was the staff. We had to arrange a dance floor and we rented our own chairs as well. We also had the s'mores bonfire outside which was a nice touch and was something my wife really wanted. On top of our wedding we've been there for the maple syrup festival which is great though involves walking on the trail. Maple syrup boiled on a teal fire has a nice Smokey flavour. Mmmmm Also a great place to go to check out Fall leaves which isn't too far from the city. Totally recommend for those three options Only negative is that there are some really aggressive speed bumps on the way in. read more

Was here for a wedding ceremony. I was helping as a GM for my friend's wedding. At the rehearsal, the main person in charge was not around and we had someone else walk us through everything. However, she did not seem too experienced. She did not know the order for the ceremony that well. I guess it would be wise to have your officiant present for the rehearsal though it might cost extra, so there are no mess ups on your day. If your officiant has been around in the business for a while, chances are you probably won't need him/her at the rehearsal, but that's just added stress not knowing lol When the bride & groom had other questions regarding the ceremony, the sub on site coordinator seemed unable to answer certain questions. On the day of, the on site coordinator was hard to locate. Usually at weddings, you would expect to at least see someone with the bride during the final moments. However, none were available. Also, there was no key to the bridal suite. As a result, we had to assign trustworthy guests to watch the bm & bride's personal belongings. TIP: Before going to the rehearsal (especially closer to the evening), PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you are protected and wear a crap load of mosquito spray. I had a zillion bites on my legs (I had on a skirt w/ thick tights and they still managed to get me!). It was a nice quiet forest area but make sure you have a personal planner or put someone in charge of this to make your day as smooth as possible. If your theme is vintage chic, romantic and nature inspired, it would be beautiful here. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having a conservation place a short drive from my home (less than 5 minutes). It's trails link with Boyd Conservation area to the south (Rutherford/Islington) and into Kleinberg to the north (it wanders through and around the McMichael Art Gallery). For a nominal fee, you can wander their grounds and completely forget that you're only 20 minutes from Toronto. The sugar maple festival is great and I have heard that they have a venue for an outdoor wedding.......hmmmmmmm...... Highly recommend visiting. read more

I went here for the Maple Syrup festival...it was nice to be outdoors. The Kortright Centre and its surrounding area is actually quite pleasant. However, since I went for the maple syrup festival, I expected more and was a bit disappointed that they didn't even sell their own maple syrup. read more

I am very disappointed, first time taking my children here. They shouldn't have opened the place until it was safe for anyone to walk the trails. There were lots of steep trails where we slipped a few times because they hadn't removed enough ice. Therefore I couldn't finish the tour. Everything was so far away for anyone to enjoy. Once we found a place that was demonstrating the maple being made right next to it was a young man showing off dead fox skins like he was soo proud to present. No warning what's so ever and how was that even related to what this tour was about. Really disgusting showing dead foxes to children. No warning at all. The wagon ride was so silly, no point at all, had to pay extra for that and it was 5 mins journey round with nothing to view on the way. Nothing was organized and there was no clear map or signs that showed where to go or even staff to help you. Had to go inside and it was so busy, my children wanted balloon animals and the line was sooo long because there was only one person making them. I would think they would be smart enough to hire more. Same went for the face painting. So my children didn't get either due to 1hour long lines. We had to leave, waste of mine and my children's day. I will not be returning to this place, so disappointed. If your looking for long slippery trails, dead fox skins and no proper education on how maple is really made then this place is for you. Otherwise don't waste your money and time. read more

I was looking forward to the maple syrup festival and this has been on my "to do" list for several years. We were finally able to come today. It was $24.00 for two adults including parking. You start out in a busy area where they serve overly expensive pancakes (to be expected). It's a bit chaotic and not quite clear why this is he starting location. It's not well designed and there are bottlenecks everywhere. We were there at 11 am and it was reasonably busy but not packed. We started out on the trek and it was paved and easy to navigate with a stroller. The stops along the way were few. There were 3 main stops but the very first stop I didn't even realize that was one of them. It seemed more like it was just along the side of the trail. The stop where they distill down the syrup over the fire was cool. The 3rd stop we couldn't even get into because a large group occupied the space. The trail was quite muddy and only the beginning of the trail was paved. It made it quite difficult to navigate with a stroller and my husband had to carry the stroller and baby over several large muddy areas. For the price of admission I truly was expecting a lot more. It was very simple and I was quite disappointed in the experience. I probably wouldn't recommend and I won't go back for sure. read more

Was here for a wedding and for the first course, an anti-pesto platter came with a cockroach. A live cockroach, notified the server name Jahne, she gives us attitude on how we are having dinner outside near a forest, it's a given that there's insects. So what? Just cause we are eating outside, it's ok to for a restaurant it place to serve bugs or insects in your food? And that she wouldn't have brought it out if she saw the roach in the first place, well she did! Cockroaches don't fly and land on food! She takes it into the kitchen and comes back in 5 minutes and tells us the "chef" said the same thing. She walks away and we see the same roach crawling around. The whole table did not touch that large platter! The roach started to crawl off the platter and onto the table. She couldn't have at least removed the roach before she brought it back? She had the worst customer service I've ever seen at a wedding. read more
