This is literally a HIDDEN Gem! A friend found this on yelp for us to meet and since I arrived first I was surprised it was part of a residential community but also I couldn't find the coffee shop based on my map. Before leaving the parking lot I had to call the place and ask where it is. Hiding in plain sight at the exit of the community inside the pizza place. Once in I loved the whole decor. A mini pink wonderland! The woman who helped us was super sweet and the mocha latte I ordered was delicious. Plenty of seating for an afternoon coffee date and cute seating outside with spots for IG opportunities. Can't go wrong to visit this spot!

One word: PINK! Went here for Galentine's with my girl Serena!! We took in all the aesthetics. Love the butterflies on my matcha latte. Loved the big mirror. This is my kinda café. The owner Mary was so friendly and made us feel at home. We'll definitely be back. You can park in the complex and/or across the street by the shopping. center. Everything I needed and more. Check them out ladies and gentlemen. Thank ya! Enjoy!

Hard to find. Luccas Pizza is the only sign one will ever see as the owner is prohibited from displaying the name of her Cafe anywhere on the premises or even OUTSIDE/INSIDE the premises. LOLOL Who, in their right mind, would agree to such a thing? I had to call to locate, and the Nice Middle Eastern lady answering the phone said to me, "I'm inside Luccas." She says she's (desperate to sign a lease, any lease). Prices are a bit aggressive; they have to be, she has no walk-in traffic. And no signs to display that her Cafe even exists, this place only exists by the grace of Yelp and Word of Mouth. 4 me, it was one of the many people I follow (daily) on Yelp. Of all the photos displayed thus far on this website, not one shows the actual front; so I will. Parking is iffy at best.

Love this place. The pizza is delicious and yes, the pink cafe makes it even better with the cute decorations.

Great coffee shop to go when you are in the mood for something special. When you walk in the ambience is done to the max. It's an explosion of pink flowers and totally bougie, perfect for your Instagram photo shoots, but ironically, they don't have an Instagram page. I checked! The owner helped us and made us a cappuccino and a latte. My cappuccino had a little butterfly and flower petals and was so lovely. I selected a dessert sampler which she upfront told me was $36. A bit steep, but you've got to see these desserts! Handcrafted and absolutely beautiful. If you're not wanting to spend that much, you could just get a slice of cake or a single dessert but we were having a special occasion. I also appreciate her, letting us know the price so there was not a sticker shock when we got rang up. The coffee drinks were superb and the desserts tasted as good as they look. Each one totally different. The back of Kouklas is kind of a convenience store/wine shop. There are a few tables and it looks like folks could come in for special events if they wanted to. We saw a few other food items go out, woodfired pizzas, some hummus arrangement, etc.. that looked very good. This café is tucked into the side of a little shopping center below an apartment complex in Mission Valley. You would never know it was there unless you were looking for it. There is a small parking deck available.

This place is really hidden away! But such a cute surrounding area! This was also a recent place I visited that was oh, so very, very pink. I'm not sure what the obsession is with tiny pink shops, but I don't love it. Decor was pretty unimpressive. It's pretty weird that the pink just stops mid-store to show a small market. My mom got a latte, which she said was unimpressive and she's definitely had better. I ended up getting a Raspberry Mascarpone treat of sorts. It was overly sweet and you couldn't taste any raspberry, just mascarpone. Pretty disappointing. I don't think the treats were made here considering the hostess wasn't too knowledgeable about what each treat was.

Great ambiance, the most adorable desserts, and great service! Employees were very helpful with what was popular and what to choose. Lots of great options, and everything was beautiful. I got the butterfly chai latte and a raspberry pistachio cloud cake. All the desserts looked so good! My latte had great flavor and was the perfect amount of sweet. This was a very cute cafe and I loved all the details. Lots of pink, pretty, and bows!

Very cute place tucked away in the Promenade. We were a little confused, is a market or is it a café? It's both! We were greeted by the lovely lady behind the counter. The beautiful desserts and pastries drew us to this spot but unfortunately it was a miss. We came close to 2:00pm and there were only a few pastries left. Though the desserts looked good, I wasn't convinced they were made in house. When I inquired if they were indeed made there she said yes. We settled on the Crème Brûlée Cheesecake. She plated a slice with two forks to share. I look over at the frozen beneath the drink menu and see a box labeled cheesecake. That was utterly disappointing. I don't mind eating desserts that are made elsewhere. I just don't appreciate being lied to about it. Honesty is important when I am supporting local businesses. The cheesecake flavor was good the freshness was questionable. Definitely had the defrosted taste. While this place is super cute, I don't like the lack of integrity. Will not return.

This is my 50th review... and I'm happy to recommend Kouklas Cafe. I went here with my fiancee on a weekday afternoon. We both had a craving for coffee and a pastry, and decided on Kouklas after reading the stellar reviews. In short, I give five stars to the service (thank you, Mary!), the flavor of the coffee and pastries. I wasn't the biggest fan of the interior seating area 4 stars, and it's not because I don't like pink. I do. The cafe is situated in a multi-use apartment complex, and shares space with a convenience store and restaurant. Inside, I experienced a lot of random traffic and loud talking coming from the restaurant side. Next time, I'll try the outdoor patio.

Overview: Café made for Instagram pictures, super pink, more expensive, no prices on baked goods :( ---- My biggest gripe is that they have NO PRICES on any of their baked goods. And all of the items look so delicious so it's such a shame that you have to ask the price for each of them, it gets tedious and I'm sure it's annoying for the workers as well. ---- Chai Latte $7: - super cute - good level of sweetness and flavor - texture of the flower petals and rice paper butterfly is a little weird when you eat it but it's very beautiful ---- Notes: - many 2 seater tables inside and outside - the pink aesthetic is so fun - there's a plaza across the street with plenty of parking - service was great ---- Overall: You're basically paying for the aesthetics of the drink and the pinkness of the cafe. It's on the more expensive side, there's also no prices on any of their pastries and baked goods, (I asked how much their pistachio cake slice was and it is $8.50). Their drinks are good but if they had prices on their other items it would be perfect.

What a cute coffee place. Great customer service and great coffee. This place is good for catching up with friends or just having a nice cup of coffee. This coffee shop shares a pizza place and apartment complex. There is limited parking but definitely worth looking for parking and trying this place out. I can't wait to come back and try some of the pastries and a different coffee.

Lucca's Pizzeria and Market converted its extra space at The Promenade Rio Vista Apartments in Mission Valley to Kouklas Cafe. There was no outside signage yet which made this business a little difficult to find if you were a first timer. I had previously visited the pizzeria so it wasn't an issue. There were parking spaces in the loop to the complex which were all free for up to one hour. The pizzeria, market, and cafe are all open until 9 pm nightly. Pink was the theme with lots of flowers, cakes, and tea sets on display. The seating was rather limited with one long table and a few round tops on the inside. The adjacent narrow outdoor patio to the west had several more small tables. I came during the late morning so the breakfast menu screen was still being displayed. I imagine there's also a lunch/dinner menu, however I didn't see a hard copy of those offerings at the service counter. Various pastries and baked goods were on display at the counter. Twelve breakfast offerings were shown on the screen. To the right of that was a wall menu featuring the beverages... coffee, hot/cold tea, hot chocolate, smoothies. I picked the Eggs Your Way and a strawberry banana smoothie. The first was two eggs (sunny side up was my choice), turkey sausage, and crispy tater tots. The cashier asked if I wanted milk or juice for the base of my smoothie so I chose the latter. I sat inside and waited for my food and drink to be delivered. The smoothie was served in a glass with a butterfly made of rice paper added to the top. The blend was fruity and not diluted as I have experienced elsewhere. The Eggs Your Way took a bit of time to be prepared. The eggs were alright, but to my disappointment the tater tots were lukewarm and not crispy at all. The turkey sausage was two links sliced in half lengthwise. They could have used more time on the grill. Note that if you pay with a credit card, the prices will be boosted by 3.5% That was made very clear at the register. The service was spotty as there was no follow up after my plate was brought from the kitchen. Bussing of dirty tables was on the slow side as I watched another party ask for a table to be cleaned so they could sit down. I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Kouklas Cafe.

    Cutest Cafe ever!!!

Based on other comments and the AI summaries I saw on Yelp and Google, it was recommended that I order ahead which is exactly what I did and it was a fairly easy and a quick system. It looks like their weekly menu keeps changing which is a both a good thing and a bad thing because you get to try new things but may not always get to eat your favorites again. I pre-ordered on a Thursday for a pick up on Friday and they were already out of their seasonal Black Forest Bun which sounded delicious. After scrolling through the menu multiple times, I decided to get the Pistachio Strawberry croissant and the Kouign Amann. When I arrived at the store, I immediately noticed the pre-order pick up window and was so glad that I wasn't standing in what seems to be on atleast a 25-30 line which I though was crazy for a weekday morning. The staff that gave my order was so friendly and it was so quick. What's great is they hold your order for atleast 24 hours in case you're unable to pick it up. There is some seating in the patio but honestly it's not meant for sitting and enjoying the pastries because there aren't really any tables but only seating. So it's best to pick up and take it home or eat by the beach which is what I did. The place is cute with a lot of plants and good vibes though. Since they don't warm up the croissants , I was worried that it wouldn't taste good while eating it at the beach but I was absolutely wrong. The Kouign Amann was okay, I'd give it a 4/5. The Pistachio Strawberry croissant however, was so absolutely delicious I'd give it a 5/5 even though it wasn't warmed up, it had the perfect amount of sweetness. It's easily one of the best croissants I've ever had. Overall this place has absolutely delicious pastries, but I'm not sure if I'd stand in a 30 mins line, maybe 10-15 mins, so good for them to have the pre order system.

We walked right up, passed the already growing line, and enjoyed our breakfast. Truly the only way to skip waiting in line; going early won't cut it! We got three different croissants, as well as a baguette. Can't go wrong with the original, but the standout (to me) was the almond, with a crunchy top and stuffed with almond filling (think marzipan!). Perfectly balanced, and the almond, nor the sweetness, was not too overpowering. The Kouign-Amann had a crunchy, sugary shell. Almost like a creme brulee topping on a croissant. Sticky, but so delicious. Also shoutout to the baguette! One of the best I've had. Next time I'll have to bring some fruit, cheese, and honey. Wayfarer's vibes transported me to a community garden in Santa Cruz, and the tastes and techniques to Europe. Good thing it's inconvenient to get here from UC San Diego or else I'd be here much more often.

Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.

5/11/2026 CHOCO CHIP…read morePISTACHIO COOKIE Wow! This was reeeeally good! It was crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! LOCATED INSIDE ANOTHER STORE Located inside a store called Floral Palette, which is a floral shop and specialty gift store. Beautiful store! The sign is big, so you cannot miss it!

The crowd will come and go, so there's some moments of reprieve if you're considering this spot for reading/working. My "low" rating is because I feel quite mixed about the quality of the consumables. I really enjoyed my orange blossom latte. They accommodated a decaf shot for me, given how late it was in the day. I got a sesame raspberry cake to go, planning for it to be a nice dessert treat for dinner. The mini cake tastes like sesame, and the thin spread of raspberry was nice to break th creaminess. So while it tastes really nice, I was let down by the uneven raspberry taste and since it wasn't enough, the cake turned out to be too sweet when I got to the second half. Maybe this is a quality control issue, but I'm not sure I'll get another $12 mini cake from them any time soon.
