This is my favorite place on the island for dinner and lunch. Fantastic food and staff. Highly recommend.

I was fine but my husband ordered the fish for lunch and was sick as a dog the rest of our stay in Amelia Island. Very disappointing.

I think it's overrated. It was good food but not outstanding. Gumbo was the best. Make sure you get there early. Fills up fast.

Food is average. Club sandwich of bacon, lettuce, tomato and turkey: bread was like an oversized hot dog bun. Turkey was clearly deli meet - very processed turkey - the kind you get at Wslmart Staff today was abrupt- not much care taken. read more

Stopped in while heading back to Jacksonville. To start, it was crazy busy, but our server (Joy) was super friendly and very good. I got the blackened redfish with Lima beans and very very good! My wife got beef tips and a ceasar salad. The only thing I would change is I'd put the tips over mashed potatoes instead of egg noodles, but that's knit-picking. It's a quaint little place, but for what it is, it does it well!!! read more

We had dinner at KP's on a weekday evening and the restaurant was busy. The servers were working hard to ensure all the customers were taken care of. The restaurant is set back off the street and is close to American Beach. I enjoyed the gumbo, and blackened redfish with rice and beans. Prices were reasonable and good portion sizes. read more

KPs - Loved the food. But, the head waitress is as nasty as a snake. Very rude!!! Telling customers to never come back. They have 1 waitress who had to ask me 3 times what my order was. We are locals, and even though they advertise outdoor seating, they are NOT dog friendly. You are forced to place a takeout order and eat your food out of styrofoam. I found the staff to be abrupt and rude when they greeted us about having a dog. read more

I'm sitting here reviewing instead of eating because I sent my food back. I always open my sandwich to deconstruct my food and take a look at what I get and boy what a surprise did I get tonight. What a beautiful sandwich on the outside only to reveal pretty much no contents on the inside. I mean no contents of chicken salad that is....my chicken salad must have sprouted feathers and flew off. What the heck happened to the chicken is there a shortage? Yes they took it off the bill but seriously when you get reports that this is the hot new place in town and the chef if excellent you really expect to have a delicious and amazing sandwich to write about and maybe something to even bring home and have something to snack on later. Nope, note this time. I did not even try the fries, but they looked like the standard frozen fries that maybe had some seasonings who knows. I also posted a picture of the skimpiest piece of flounder I have ever seen in my life. That looked like a child's portion. I was told it was good ....all 3 bites of it. I'm not sure how that was even a legal catch. It was so paper thin. The person that brought out that meal did not even bring out the salad that went with the meal and had no idea that a salad went with the meal. This really deserved 1 star, but the sweet tea was decent and I drank most of it so I gave them 2 stars, and the fish was consumed. I would have walked out completely. read more

It has been years since I have eaten at this restaurant. I have not been in the area for years. I was not aware of the new location until I found them on yelp. The food was amazing. I love the spinach artichoke dip. They were very busy but we did not wait long for a waitress or our food. The restaurant is small and cozy but has plenty of seating. I was impressed with the fact that even though it has been years since I have visited I did not see that they have increased their prices like so many other restaurants have. read more

Food was great, both the regular menu and specials offer a nice variety for even a picky eater like me. The specials are creative and change daily. The service was very slow though. We got there before the lunch rush but I think we were forgotten, as we never got the drinks we asked for and had to go to the bar to pay since no one came back to our table. Had dinner with a friend Friday night. The fried redfish and succotash was absolutely delicious and the portions were generous. What a great little place; homemade selections, great variety and the prices are the best deal on the south end. I love the daily specials he posts on Facebook, too. We ordered the dirty rice, and it was exceptional, wonderfully seasoned with bits of savory sausage. Also we had sautéed mushrooms with garlic and black beans and shallots-- a whole array of healthy choices. Their special butternut flounder and Bourbon street Tuna, and of course a catch of the day is also on the menu The interior is sensible and fun with clouds lining the walls. The music is at the perfect volume, and there is great atmosphere with lots of locals. My favorite crab bisque is not to miss-- a perfect balance of spice and flavor. They also sell their own sauce. End your meal with the unbelievable home made cream-cheese pumpkin pie-- the best pumpkin pie I ever had with homemade crust. Perfect consistency. Our first Sunday brunch at KP's today and another good experience. Great food and service. We were a party of three and had one chicken and waffles, one egg platter with bacon and home fries and one waffle with cheese grits and home fries. After reading all the reviews, we wanted to try KP's. Unfortunately, the food was nothing like people were reporting. My husband had the "fresh" catch of the day - Red Snapper. The portion was so small and it was rubbery and had a bitter aftertaste. The pulled pork sandwich was not fresh - dry and overcooked. Everything came out steaming hot, as it if had just been reheated in the microwave. The gravy on the rice tasted just like a canned gravy mix we have used. read more

Tonight we decided to try the newly opened KP's restaurant! We were familiar with the prior restaurant at this location and were curious as to who was taking over. After doing some research, we were excited to try a new chef that everyone on the island knew! We were not disappointed! I had a small Cesar salad that was delicious, my partner loved his cucumber salad and said it was the best he has ever had. Next we tried the daily specials- he had the flounder with succotash ( which was by far the best either of us have ever had) I went for the meat loaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. Although I could only eat half of this generous portion- it was just irresistible! We finished with a slice of key lime pie. Fantastic addition to this end of the island! Wow! Stumbled across this place as we passed through on one of our adventures. It's off the path but so well worth it. Joy made sure we were well taken care of. She explained that KP makes almost everything from scratch and it definitely shows. We started out with the Spicy Seafood Gumbo and the Tuscan Vegetable Chowder. I had the Calypso Chicken Sandwich and my wife had the blackened flounder. We finished off lunch sharing a big bowl of Banana Pudding. You could tell it was all from scratch and no corners cut. They reopened two weeks ago and if you can eat here I highly recommend it. KP's has been an island favorite for a really long time. I am happy to see them open up again. The food is still as great as it ever was!!! Lunch is only take out unfortunately but they have a nice little outdoor seating area you can take your food out to eat! From the amount of people that came up to see if they were open and then getting the take out my guess is that they will be open for lunch really soon! What a great lunch spot. Stopped here while biking the Amelia Trail, which runs right out front. Ordered the blackened flounder sandwich which was fresh and delicious on a super fresh bun with a very tasty remoulade sauce. My side was the creamy collards. This time I would give it a 4. 5 We tried different food: the corn and crawfish cake was delicious. The spinach artichoke dip was missing garlic/flavor. It thickened to fast so using a chip was difficult after a few minutes. The chip would break. My fish special, cobra Lafayette was delicious. Fish sandwich was yummy. The Grilled redfish was bland and he needed more sauce. The waitress brought sauces. We were very thirsty and had to keep asking for more water. Yes, I'd go back. This place was recommended to me by a friend. What a great recommendation! I ordered the catch of the day... Red fish. Blackened. Good with their cucumber salad. Theo wing appetizer was also delicious and I really recommend it. Their sauce is homemade and I could have licked the plate. But I didn't. They have wonderful selection of homemade desserts! I wanted to try everything. This just means I will come back. Our server, Holly, was friendly and gave us some ideas about local favorites. One other note... you can hear each other talk at the table at this restaurant. No loud music to interfere with the table conversation.
