I am a huge fan of our local radio station. There are give-aways, contests, a place for you to…read moresell for free and a fantastic afternoon d.j. and his side kick dog "Banjo". They rock! Great music, country of course. and during the afternoon get ready to laugh and call in your requests. Sadly tho the station is not broadcasting lice the local high school football games anymore...not by thier choice but the high school's but I won't get into that here. Another great thing about this station is it's commitment to the community and helping businesses and customers stay in touch. I love thr fact that KTMP helps us know about Heber ever changing weather ...sometimes it can get kind of wicked and we need to be prepared! There are different programs during the week but the one i like best beside kerry Hobb' 4pm - 6pm d,j'ing is a program based out of Wy of all places and feature two brothers that a really a kick in the pants funnny!! Sunday programing until about 5pm is out of SLC (I think) and is wonderful variety of spiritual and gospel music with inspirational short stories as well. So tune and stay informed and be entertained. Go can even go by the station on Main Street and say hi to them in person.

Beyond playing music by such greats as: Bach, Beethoven, Berlioz, and other classical composers, Classical 89 also broadcasts BYU devotionals, selections from live performances of the Utah Symphony, BBC News, and other programs. I really enjoy listening to Classical 89 and it is my go-to station when I'm driving in the car.

I didn't really appreciate how great KUER was until I moved to another city. I live in SF now and my local NPR station is probably funded 10 times as well as KUER, but I honestly think KUER does a much better job with local reporting and bringing a compelling local angle to the programming. During the 10 years I lived in Utah the voices of Jenny Brundin, Tasha Cook, Michael Havey and others felt like like family during my daily commute. KUER does a fantastic job in a difficult market, and it's obvious they are passionate about bringing quality news and discussion to Utah. And don't even get me started on Doug Fabrizio and RadioWest. He's one of the best interviewers in the business, and I'm constantly wondering why he hasn't moved on to a national show yet. I still listen to the RadioWest podcast even though much of the local material shouldn't be that interesting to me anymore. The only thing I don't love about KUER is the jazz at night, but that's just a personal preference (plus it gave me a chance to listen to some KRCL). Overall I'd trade the fancy-pants big city KQED here in San Francisco for KUER any day of the week.
