A charming spot just plaza adjacent. I had the sopa de hongos and the pay de queso. Both really good. One of us had the chicken steak and it was a nice big piece with lots of veggies. The other had a corn appetizer and tortilla soup. Great service. Pricey by Mexico standard. read more

I'll give this restaurant a 3 star rating just because the Service was outstanding. The food on the other hand was a little insipid and quite salty to compensate for the flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals (multiple) at K'puchinos. Their lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolates were amazing. The food was superb as well, with a special shout out to their spinach omelette and French toast, which was labeled "best ever" by members of my band of hungry teenagers. The people here are the real magic. Bernardo (morning shift captain), in particular, made our trip. Beyond being patient with our less-than-stellar Spanish, Bernardo gave us some tourism advice, and recommended a few outstanding culinary destinations. And because of him, this restaurant became our morning ritual. We'll be back to Tequis AND K'puchinos. read more

The service looks efficient, but after half hour waiting for the Chilaquiles, me and my family needed to beg to the waiters for my food ( I was sick), after big push to the captain the order came incomplete. I understand that a table with 20 attendants is difficult to keep up, especially with several people ordering the same dish, but my plate came with the tortillas crunchy(not soft), the chicken cold and the sauce was thick. I don't usually rate places, but I guess this will help to improve the taste and speed. read more

We had a wonderful meal here, sitting in the open air with great, low-volume music playing. The restaurant appears to be more upscale but many of the people coming in had various clothing on that indicated that the restaurant is not just for fancy dining. I had a steak fillet that was cooked excellently, covered in sauted mushrooms. The steak was honestly one of the best meals I had while staying in & around San Juan Del Rio for the week. We also ordered a cheese board for the entire table to share, and it was huge with (I think) 6 or 7 different cheeses, with a good portion of each cheese to try, sorted from softest to hardest in density. I recommend the Sangria that they have with fruit chunks in it as well. If you are near the Tequis square, I highly recommend going here for a nice dinner during your trip. read more

The Chile en bogada was the plate I like the most. It is made with a sauce made out of cashews, queso ranchero, sugar, pecans and other ingredients that made it so special. This place isn't worth the place it has on the main plaza. Highly questionable from the Narajada to the Santo Bailado that I ordered. Touristy to be sure, quality Mexican food, meh. Things that should raise an eyebrow: bread that is at least 2 days old, mineral naranjada that is more flat and watery than I would think a restaurant would serve, and general bland taste to just about everything on the menu. Uninspired and boring, I would take a walk around the block to see what other places may be offering. Because this isn't Mexican as the way it should be. Our first meal for this trip was dinner here around 10:30 pm on a Friday night. We chose to sit where it was quieter. You could hear karaoke coming from the back of the restaurant. By this time we were exhausted from a very long day of traveling. 2 of us ordered the Chamorro al Pastor and the other 2 ordered the Enchiladas Queretareanas with cheese and chicken. I personally loved the warm corn tortillas. The meals were excellent. They have a nice wine list. Not sure why they chilled their reds. Salvador was our waiter, a nice pleasant young man and Erik was our sommelier. Also, a pleasant young man. They were both very attentive. We were here recently visiting family & had a mix of relatives from both the US and Mexico. There was something to please everyone for breakfast. There were more traditional breakfast dishes from the US as well as standard Mexican fare. The food was very good and the service was excellent. This restaurant is tried and true. They are consistently open rain or shine (which is always iffy in Mexico). You will find a range of foods on their menu from burgers and barbecue ribs to chicken mole and a fresh gazpacho made with fruit. The price can add up if you include a bottle of wine to your order but still works out at least half as expensive than in the states. The atmosphere is super nice but the chairs are little uncomfortable. It's hard to sit in them for any length of time. read more
