The vongole in pepper garlic butter sauce is fantastic. Even 11year old son ate the enormous fried fish. From Chicago area. I recommend this restaurant as one of the better I've visited in Netherlands

We had made reservations for ten people, but our group arrived in smaller groups over a period of an hour. The Fish Market was very understanding and patient with us, and we happily enjoyed some wine and oysters during this time. When we were finally all together and had ordered, the food was quickly prepared and served. Moreover, the dishes were presented beautifully and in a grand fashion; the portions are not small, at all. I had the pleasure of enjoying the sole (zeetong), which was very delicious, simply serves with a cup of clarified butter. A perfect combination. The rest of the table enjoyed the mussels, the cold seafood platter, and a mixed grill. Everybody enjoyed their food very much, and it must be said that our group included an Australian top chef; she too was impressed by the quality of the food. One batch of mussels were unfortunately cold when they arrived to the table, but when we pointed this out, the host apologized and was happy to take it back and produce a new, fresh serving. The design and atmosphere of the restaurant is interesting; unlike other restaurants, the Fish Market doesn't care for dimly lit lights or red chairs. Rather, with the white tiles and industrial lamps, they have tried to make it look and feel like you are in the back-end shop of a fish monger. As eerie as that may sound, it isn't. Strangely enough, it makes for the perfect place to have some good quality seafood. Overall, the quality of the food was extremely well, which, in combination with the great service and atmosphere, makes The Fish Market my new favorite in town.

We had originally booked the Damrak 213 location but had to cancel due to a flight delay. Determined to make the most of our short time before heading to Paris the next morning, I chose this location because it was close to the areas we wanted to explore after dinner -- and I'm so glad I did. After reading on their website that they keep tables available for walk-ins at most locations, we decided to try our luck. As soon as my best friend and I walked in, we were not disappointed. The ambiance felt right immediately -- warm, inviting, and full of good energy. There was little to no wait, and the fresh seafood display at the front looked incredible. Vanessa was our lovely server and truly a whole vibe throughout the evening. She, along with "Mr. Champion," gave us great suggestions on where to walk and explore next -- and we absolutely took their advice. I love a menu where you can order and split a little bit of everything with a friend, and every single dish was perfection. The shrimp croquettes, king prawns, asparagus, roasted carrots, and fish and chips (kibbeling) were all served hot, fresh, and packed with flavor at a very reasonable price. The kitchen was run by a Black chef who was clearly putting in serious work and completely understanding the assignment. I wanted to personally commend him, but he was fully locked in and busy creating magic. Even the espresso martini stood out -- easily one of the best I've had. Great, relatable conversations, amazing food, and the evening ended on a sweet note with a complimentary lemon crème brûlée served with sparkles. This spot is truly a neighborhood gem. I'm so glad we chose this location -- it turned a rushed travel day into a memorable night dining with some true champions. We can't wait to return with more time to fully enjoy the experience.

When I walked in, there was only one person at the entrance, and I was completely ignored. A family ahead of me was immediately seated, but I had to wait and try to get someone's attention--it took quite a while. I was finally seated at the bar, which was fine since I was alone, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was an inconvenience. Everything, from getting a drink to ordering food, felt like a struggle, and the staff didn't make me feel welcome at all. The food was okay--I've had better--but the overall experience left me feeling unwelcome, and I couldn't wait to leave. I'm genuinely surprised by the high reviews, because I felt quite the opposite. I'm not sure I'd recommend this place or come back
