I have been a customer of St. Seraphim of Sarov Eastern Orthodox Bookstore since 2002. The…read morebookstore is attached to Joy of All Who Sorrow Orthodox Christian Church; however, the two organizations are separate (in business, not in doctrine). The bookstore is owned by St. Xenia Metochion Monastery, which is located just north of the shop. It is managed by Mother Macaria, who is truly unforgettable. She is a gem, and she can brighten just about any day. She's also has an absolute wealth of knowledge on Orthodoxy--one can learn a lot by just having a simple conversation with her. St. Seraphim Bookstore is is greatest source for Orthodox goods in Indianapolis. Their collection of books on Orthodoxy is astounding. Whether you are looking for an Orthodox Study Bible, prayer books, liturgical texts, stories of the Saints, or spiritual self-help books, they are sure to have it. The bookstore also carries a host of icons of various sizes--some of which are hand painted. The customer will also find hand crafted Orthodox jewelry, prayer ropes, candles, and plenty of incense. The prices at the store are fair, although many of the hardbound books are on the pricey side. Personally, I do not mind paying a few extra dollars for spiritual items that I plan on keeping for a lifetime--and God willing, passing on to future generations. St. Seraphim Bookstore is non-profit, and the proceeds help support the monastery. Whether you are an Orthodox Christian or are someone who has an interest in the faith, please visit St. Seraphim Bookstore. You'll be happy you did.
