If you loved the musty charm of Red Dog's Greenwood spot, you'll love this somewhat inaccessible but still charming little place with friendly employees, a ton of books adding up to literary chaos, a non-profit spirit, and the best prices in Indy for used books. Take that HPB. I believe this spot used to house auto repair. You can tell Red Dog is fixing it up and cleaning it up. It's still musty. It's still a bit divey. The books are stacked high and there are sales galore. If you're looking for strict organization? You won't find it here beyond a few sections clearly designated within genre (very loosely) and some sales areas where you can get $2-3 books. They also carry DVD's, audio books, and even VHS. Yes, I still have a VHS player. This is a women-owned, disabled owned shop. They really are a non-profit organization, as well. They offer curbside pick-up - I'll admit I'm not quite sure how that works unless the books are secretly organized way more than I believe they are. I will utter a word of caution as a wheelchair user. Accessibility lacks a bit at the front entrance. There's a small step to the sidewalk in the parking lot - there's no designated parking (I actually had to move my car over when someone parked next to me unexpectedly). I was able to jump the step myself, however, if you have mobility issues just be aware. When you go in the front door, there's also an unexpected step down. It's a slight step that I initially missed - fortunately, my wheelchair could handle it. As I left, the employee noted that there's another option that is more accessible and they're happy to assist if you call them. While they didn't help upon entry, this same employee did help at the front door as I was leaving. Super friendly. Once inside, I found the aisles surprisingly accessible with the exception of a couple corners. I think a larger chair might struggle, however, most manuals should be fine. I found the selection really solid, though they had rows and rows of romance novels and I couldn't find a single nurse romance novel. Yes, I collect nurse romance novels. Leave me alone - you try having almost 100 surgeries and not getting a massive thing for nurses. Seriously, though. They're still getting organized and straightened out. I already love the place and have a feeling it will only get better. I do know they're struggling a bit as they get settled. I'd love, love, love for Yelpers to show up and give them some love. If you can't find a used book here, you probably can't find one anywhere. The eastside really needed a shop like Red Dog Books. There was a fairly steady stream, though certainly they could use more to help spread the word. Definitely a thumbs up for me and I'm going to do what I can to give them a boost!

My husband googled other places and thank goodness he did! He found this place. Mark - He is a miracle worker. He has a CAN DO attitude! He was able to stretch the thin oversized canvas. He worked with my husband and showed him different styles of framing options which the one they selected I love. He was upfront with the timing of the project and was dead on with that. Because it's so oversized, we didn't know how we would get it home! Mark found a carrier service that would pick it up and deliver it for minimal cost. I am so pleased with everything! You pay and then they set up yup with a table and brushes. They have paint labeled with colors as well and a multitude of stencils and stamps plus other gadgets that you can use for your creation. They mentioned several times that you need to paint everything three coats in order to have a vibrant color. I will say that takes much more time than one would think so definitely give yourself time to paint several layers without rushing. My only other thought was next time I would pick a bigger object for our small ones to do as opposed to the tiny hand. Painting was very frustrating for them. We were able to help, but next time e Id pick only big easily painted objects. It was a fun airy spot with lots of tables and creativity abounded! Once you are done they fire your objects and you come back later to pick them up. I would definitely go back and try something else with friends or for a date night even.

We came on a rainy Saturday morning around 11:30 and this place gets a lot of business! When you come in it will probably take you some time to first pick an item to paint. They have a variety of options to choose from with various price points. The price includes all the materials and supplies as well as the glazing process and the excellent service you receive. They do a great job with labeling paints, having different size brushes, switching out jars of water, and checking on you throughout the process. I will say that since it's best to paint 3 hours it takes a lot longer than you would think. So come with the mindset of getting lost in the therapeutic process of painting. We took 4 hours to paint our items. We will have to come back to pick up our items. They have a sign and provide clear communication on when to expect our items back. We had such a blast. I noted they have a party room that can be reserved so this would be a fun way to celebrate a special occasion! Will definitely be back to paint some more.

Teachers' Treasures is only open on certain days and at certain times, so you need to make a reservation in order to visit. If you are looking for a volunteering opportunity, Teachers' Treasures is always looking for volunteers to help stock shelves, unload products from pallets and assist teachers as they shop.
