Because you get meals like "FULL PAKKE"(the full package) that includes really good bacon, minced meat cake, eggs sunny side up, potatoes, salat and bread + endless coffee refills for 100kr. You cant beat that anywhere in the city. The staff are reason enough for coming. Down to earth, friendly and always down to riff about politics, the weather, society, cars and whatever you wanna nag about. The place is filled with carpenters, contractors and handymen during lunch hours and usually older people in the afternoon/evening. If you're looking for a fancy, hip place, this aint it. If you want something real, inexpensive and down to earth with big portions of traditional food that will fill you up, this place is great.

The service was awkward with one waiter starting to serve us and then disappearing though working on other tables. A waitress finally helped us when we needed to pay the bill. She also explained that at least four popular dishes on the small menu we're unavailable - strange since it was early in the evening. My wife punted since the fish soup was unavailable and she got the Ling - a type of fish. She said it was OK but not for $47... I got the meatball platter and it was good though the side of some sort of beans that had the texture of really dry baked beans was not my thing. It's a nice dining room but there are many shortcomings especially with the service. Next time I have a craving for meatballs I will go to IKEA at a third the price!

When we questioned the bill, we were only told in English that four adults had eaten from the platters. That may technically have been their interpretation, but it was completely different from the recommendation we had originally received. We honestly felt trapped into paying far more than expected. Originally built by the nazi occupants during the second world war, this barrack used to be the officer quarters of the Kriegsmarine encampment on the island. It is situated next to the old monastry ruins in peaceful surroundings, large trees, meadows, sheep and birds singing.
