When I asked for my handles, he demanded an extra payment, which I refused, explaining that I had already paid. I consider this behavior dishonest and unprofessional. I strongly advise against doing business with him and recommend staying away from this company.

They sued me, I hired a lawyer, and they eventually dropped the lawsuit and settled without me owing them another dollar. The amateurs did not ask me to sign an NDA, which is why I can share this. Stay away from this company. They are horrible and work with the worst subcontractors. At some point, everything they did fell apart: leaks from the bathroom ceiling, peeling paint (they forgot the primer), and electrical and plumbing work that was an absolute mess.

Upstairs was our master suite with washroom and closet. Quoted 3 months for a job that started June 2020. It took til mid-January 2021 for majority of work to get completed & full job was not completed til mid-July 2021. 2) Cost was 25% over quoted budget. 3) Quality of a work was a solid B+ or 7.5/10. Many small details only addressed after us following up several times. In conclusion, we've worked with other companies for smaller jobs but due to size of our reno we had gone for a larger company - Newsam, and we regretted it. Though at the end the job was done to design it was an emotionally painful, long drawn out & overpriced experience.

My wife and I were referred to Derrick and Gemma by friends who had worked with them on a much smaller project and had a great experience. My wife and I have no experience with renovations and have no eye for design, so we decided to give them a try. The process could not have been easier. Derrick took our priorities into account and even found excellent compromises when my wife and I disagreed about a few specific elements. The design he created was amazing - beyond functional and (as you can see) beautiful. Gemma has a great eye for aesthetics and walked us through a marathon session of selecting colours, paints, countertops, tiles, etc while our 1-year-old did his best to destroy their showroom. My personal hell would consist solely of mixing and matching nearly identical colours, but Gemma and Derrick made it (dare I say) tolerable. My wife and I love cooking, but it became such a chore when we moved into our new house with a non-functional kitchen. Our new kitchen has been up and running for about 1 month and cooking has become a pleasure again. We just hosted my in-laws for a week, which included cooking 6 straight dinners for 9 people, and it could not have been more enjoyable (strictly speaking about the cooking aspect, of course). Everything is in the right place, the flow between focal points feels natural, and the workspaces are comfortable. Oh yeah, it also looks nice. I cannot recommend West Island Kitchens enough.
