From the moment I called ahead to through the dinner I had the service quality here was great. I did call ahead to ensure that they did have GF soy sauce. Since they did not appear on my GF food searches but I know how sushi is prepared and know most restaurants have a couple items minimum I can have so was willing to chance it so long as they had GF soy. On to the meal. Little disappointed in selection of rolls for GF, only lobster roll was GF without subs. But for the size of this town I think this was fine, don't expect them to have as large a selection as larger cities. Great selection of sashimi and the yellowfin tartare subbing the GF soy for the ponzu was great. Food tasted great and restaurant looked clean. My wife and I went on Valentine's Day. The place was busy, but not packed. We were seated pretty quickly and our drink orders were taken promptly. I ordered the Hibachi steak and chicken and my wife got sushi and lo mein noodles. I got the clear soup (that's what it's called!) and it smelled and tasted like aquarium water. The salad and ginger dressing was ok. My wife said her sushi was just ok, too. We waited almost an hour before I got my main course! Several tables who were seated after us got their food before us. The people at the table beside us hot up and left due to the wait. Then, I had to ask 4 times before anyone would bring me some extra yum yum sauce. The meat was tough, way overcooked. The vegetables were slightly crispy as well. I should've sent it back, but by that time we had to leave to pick up our daughter. I will not be back at this restaurant. Absolutely delicious food! I had the sushi, sashimi, lo mein, and chicken teriyaki dinner plate and my kids (very picky eaters) said that it was "too delicious" :) The sashimi was fresh and cold and so incredibly tender. I am sitting in a hotel three miles away loosing my mind over such a seemingly small thing, but how can you eat sushi without soy sauce? The answer is you can't. Was the sushi good? How would I know? Just went for my first time. The service was excellent, very friendly. And very patient with me not knowing what sushi roll to try. They have an impressive number of sushi rolls on their menu, hence not knowing which to try. I went with a cheaper Yellowtail Scallion roll, and loved it. It was well made and held together wonderfully. The soup was good, just how I like the clear soup. The salad was not as good, but that is entirely my fault for not specifying what dressing I wanted on it. If you don't specify, they default to the ginger sauce. I also had Steak and Scallops with double rice. Some cuts of the steak were a bit tough to chew, though it wasn't that bad. The Scallops were lovely, and cooked perfectly. The steak was cooked to medium rare, just as I ordered. The fried rice was a bit lacking. But I am reasonably sure that this is due mostly to me being spoiled on Fuji's fried rice. For the quality and quantity of the food received, I'm struggling to understand how they are making profits with how low the prices are. A Yellowtail Scallion roll, Steak and Scallops, drink, soup, salad, and double rice, with a 5 dollar tip ran to $28.50. 100% will go back again. Recommended to try. read more

This place is tucked away in the corner of a shopping center. I had a sushi lunch that included 2 rolls and soup. I had the egg drop soup which was better than average. I chose an Alaska roll and spicy Tuna. I loved that the rolls were perfect size. The slices were not cut too big to make them difficult to eat like so many sushi places do. Definitely the best Asian food in Dalton. Staff is always friendly. Prices are great and you get a nice amount of food. I usually get miso soup and veggie hibachi. The sushi I have had has been very good as well. It's a small place and gets really busy at lunchtime so we try to get there as soon as it opens. read more

I was looking for some sushi as it is my go to feel good food. I started searching online as we are new to NW Georgia. Kumo popped up on Yelp as a five star. I was sold. Five stars is no easy feat! We made the drive over specifically for their sushi. We moved here from the coast so our sushi expectations are always high. They did not let us down! On the contrary! They left us completely and totally impressed! This is now going to be my inland go to for my sushi needs! The staff were excellent as well! They were all friendly, smiles all around, and on top of your needs. They also were very well spoken as this is something that makes a huge difference when placing orders. I found it easy to understand everyone. The restaurant is cozy with a sushi bar, booths, and tables. Clean and decorated nicely. We ordered pick up and they give you plenty of food. I ordered scallops and filet and I think they took one scallop and sliced it into 4 thin pieces and my filet was not cooked medium rare. Even my 8 year old loves this place! We eat here almost once a week and it's always perfect. The owners are very nice and it's definitely a family friendly place. Based on the reviews of others my friend and I had high hopes for this restaurant. I used to live in Japan, and I know my sushi. First sign of trouble was the waiter could not distinguish between white tuna and Escolar... The first is an expensive and tasty part of the tuna, while the second is a substitute for the the former with a different fish entirely that tastes and looks similar but that can cause gastrointestinal distress and severe diarrhea for some people -- so knowing the difference is sort of important and there is actually some pressure to make the substitution illegal unless clearly stated. Secondly, the miso soup tasted odd and I'm not sure why. Then the Sashimi, while it was a generous portion tasted.. less than fresh. The biggest problem was probably the rice that was used for the sushi which, to put it simply, was not sushi rice. Anyone who knows their sushi knows that the rice is in fact the most important part and you use a certain kind of rice and you cook it a certain way, none of which was done in this case. From what I could tell the Japanese steakhouse options-- the chicken and beef are probably better choices and seem to be what most people ordering. These appeared more Asian style than actually Japanese, but the potions were generous and the folks happily eating it seemed happy enough read more
