Then they created a curriculum for him. He is slightly above his grade level in math. They took what he was already good at, but slow at. Explained that a student can get bored with it even if they are good at it, when they are slow. Asked if it was ok if they taught him faster ways to arrive at the correct answers. (He was getting correct answers but using slower methods.) He is thriving in math! He enjoyed it in public school a few years ago. Had a bad run with teachers who didn't keep it fun anymore. And now, with Mathnasium, he finds it fun again!! He has only been coming here a few very short months, and is about to finish up grade level math, and start the next grade level of math before this year's schooling is up. He even compliments them sometimes to me. He told me yesterday , "I used to forget things I learned in math at school a week after they taught me. But I know it perfectly now." Big compliments from my son who doesn't compliment any old thing.

Overall, I have been quite impressed with the center's ability to provide one-on-one services that address my kids' challenge areas.. We have tried other learning centers, but none compare to what the teachers here did for her. My husband and I did not know why our child just didn't understand simple math, as we explained it to her and she learned it at school. The curriculum, patience and approach at Eye Level is well suited for children of all ages. We used to struggle with how to help our child and now she is independent in completing her own homework. The teachers have noticed the improvement in her skills and confidence as well. Our son soon started attending. He does well in school, but he saw how his sister enjoyed the eye level classes, so he asked to attend so that he could improve his Reading Comprehension and writing skills. Since he started the English portion, he has not only gained confidence in his writing abilities, but he has improved his comprehension skills. Our kids enjoy going to Eye Level every week. Mr. Vijay, Ms. Eunice, and Ms. Pooja are very good at keeping the pace with children and making it very fun and an interactive environment to learn.

They'll even go to IEP meetings if that applies to your student. They don't give up on anyone- this is really key. + Comfy waiting room with leather couches, kireug. Recently the giant in this shopping center closed so you can't really run errands, but they do have wifi so you can get some work done. + Friendly staff- staff members I have never met say hi to me, smile, seems genuine I appreciate this. I especially love Rae. + Owner is also a great teacher- for me this is awesome, anyone could have bought this franchise but she bought it knowing exactly what she was doing. I know she trains the staff well. There was one time she was kind of condescending with me but I am going to give that a pass. + Not much staff turn over. These aren't college or HS kids these are professionals who appear to enjoy their job + The brain breaks are really cool. I love the idea of working hard to earn a bit of a break some moving around getting the blood flowing. They say that the breaks use both sides of the brain-- this is probably not a big deal but still a creative idea. + Someone will answer the phone even in off hours. - I am not totally sure how science proven the teachings are. I know that they only compare the kid's test at the beginning to test at the end, and that it's not a test that is credentialed for any kind of learning organization. For this reason I find it hard to assume that going to a learning rx would help a kid advance in class. It's not normal tutoring it is truly "brain training". - Sometimes communication is poor with scheduling. Have to ask several times and get things in writing to change/cancel/add a class.

Disclaimer: This is the first negative review I have ever written. I have never left a negative…read morereview online, only positive when I'm happy with a business but due to how horrible my experience was with this business, I had to inform others. Prep with Jen is not really prep with "Jen". I went by the Google reviews not realizing that the most recent review was over a year ago... If you are interested in private lessons, be prepared to pay $110+ for an hour and you aren't even getting sessions with Jen. She subcontracts her sessions out to other tutors and has very little oversight over the sessions other than her being cc'd on the summary emails. They don't record sessions (even my son's wyznat tutors record sessions!), and her tutors are not as qualified or engaging as she is. She picks up the phone and talks a lot with you before you sign up, builds a personal plan and approach but once you drop thousands of dollars on her packages, she disappears and only reappears when the tutor summons her over an extremely trivial issue (rescheduling class time requests in our case). She isn't interested in customer service and is only concerned with maximizing her tutors schedule with clients. I would not recommend at all - not only was the tutor not worth the rate, her customer service was horrible after we signed the contract UPDATE: In response to Jen's response, her claims are bogus. Her tutor wasn't happy that we asked to reschedule 3 times out of 8 sessions because of 1 time having the flu , one time a serious car accident and 1 time an unforeseeable conflict! Rather than picking up the phone and discussing with the family, Jen claimed my son was unengaged which was absolute lies! How non empathetic is that?! My son is an honors student with 4.3 GPA so forgive me if I think you're claims are bogus... She has zero evidence to back up her below claims, as my sons score already improved but majorly due to his own studying and not because of her tutors sessions which pretty much was a project management approach of watching my son complete assignments rather than truly explaining concepts. Although we accommodated changes in timing by her tutor for 5 sessions, her tutor for some reason didn't appreciate 3 reschedules and then made these bogus claims of unegagement to Jen that she decided to not even validate with the family. If you want personalized instruction with a tutoring organization that is invested in your personal success, this isn't the place for you.

This score was a massive 300-point improvement from my PSAT that I took the year before. Initially, Jen's class helped me to familiarize myself and solve the different types of reading, grammar, and math questions, giving me the initial bump to the 1450 range on a practice test. Then, she taught me to be more vigilant regarding the more deceptive questions, ultimately allowing me to get consistent scores in the mid to high 1500s on the College Board practice SATs. Throughout the process, Jen was very accommodating and answered all of my and my parent's questions about the DSAT. I highly recommend this class to students at all levels looking to improve their scores and can't thank Jen enough for my improvement.

I still feel this could have just been explained to us during the time we just stood there or someone could have just rescheduled, I do think it's admirable that they care enough to spend the time talking to parents of enrolled students (hence the bump). I'm still no longer interested in enrollment though. 7/20: 1 star We were very excited to enroll our daughter in Kumon, as we have friends with children in Kumon, but in different location. We scheduled an assessment and appointment about a 5 days in advance (they are very busy and this was the earliest we could get). We arrived for our assessment, and our daughter was taken back to complete it. We waited outside (due to coiv.... very understandable). No one explained the process to us, just gave us some paperwork to fill out and review while we waited for our daughter's assessment to be completed. Once she was done, we had to ask what we needed to do next. after some confusion, someone told us we could wait inside. Then we waited, 20 mins (mind you, there were no chairs, just a window to lean on). We asked if we were waiting for someone, and they said, yes, someone would be out to talk with us shortly. We waited another 10 mins, and asked again what exactly we were waiting for, and they said someone would be with us. After another 10 mins, we gave up and left. We were set up for a 1 hour appointment, and left with our kid having only done a 10 min assessment in that time. They just seemed really unorganized and extremely busy. Not the best impression to make when seeking this kind of service. Parents should be aware that you cannot drop off your kid and return at the end of class... you must wait outside or in your car. The only plus was that our daughter said her assessor was really nice.
