Update review: Food…read morestill good. Ambiance still good. We just realized that you cannot order the habachi grill set for 2 unless it is happy hours and it wasnt stated on the menu. We pointed it out and the server asked his manager. Manager pointed out that fhe menu is stated that it was named happy hour. Suggest they specifically put that on the menu. That said food still tasted good and is fresh. Thank you Koen for saving us a few bucks. Because i picked a different dish.and our overall bill was reduced. However, i also noticed reduction in the sizes of the meal probably due to the economy. In my dolsot bibimbap, there was much lesser meat, much lesser vegetables than before. The proportion of rice appeared to have grown. Looks like other patrons have noticed too. Might be awhile before we came back. Be mindful- habachi grill menu allows for one person n three people to order. The one named happy hour for two ppl cannot be ordered until its happy hour. I tried the gluten free ramen, which I've never been able to get before, and it truly was the best bite I've had in awhile. The broth had so much umami in it, and everything was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend tried the chicken katsu and reminded him of the ones he had back in Japan. Everyone working there is super kind. The menu for me is a little confusing. It basically is a combination restaurant. There was a variety of Japanese, Chinese and even Korean elements to it. There is a variety of seating available- at the bar, booths, round tables, rectangular tables for bigger groups and small tables for a party of two. We were the only people there on Sunday. I needed comfort food. We ordered spring rolls for appetisers. Hubby ordered tempura and i ordered tartan noodles. Spring rolls were nice and crispy- tasted like they were bought frozen and fried in the restaurant. The insides were a little mushy. They were laid on a bed of cabbage- the shreds on the side look a little black. They should probably have been more careful with picking of the lettuce shreds. Japanese tantan ramen is usually in spicy broth. Mine came more like a Chinese style dried noodles. I'm not complaining - felt like noodles my mom used to make. It helped with homesickness. I do want to point out one point though- the chicken in the noodles is probably from the chicken broth that was made. And its basically gotten all the flavour into the soup. The accompanying chicken soup with my tantan noodles were actually good. But would be better if the oil was removed before serving. The layer of oil on the soup was a little off-putting but the flavour of the underlying soup was good. Tempura itself ( the vegetables) were delicious. The shrimp was a little over done but overall tasty. Honestly, it would probably do them good to reduce the menu. Too much stuff too confusing. Large drinks menu; there are also a couple of vegetarian entrees (General Tso's Tofu and a few others; pad thai; and a small "heart-healthy" menu section with a few more). The tempura was kind of large and showy; the sushi rolls tasty (asparagus? yes please!) and surprisingly cheap ($4.50 to $6 for a 4-5 piece roll). Pickled ginger isn't dyed, which is nice. Service was pretty fast until we added the egg rolls to our order, and it's a pretty place, with mood lighting and two recessed small crystal chandeliers. There's also outdoor seating available. We were here for Mother's Day and it's nowhere near where we live, but my family, after scoping it out, planned it as a special trip to enjoy Asian with a number of vegetarian options.

(We actually have a huge discussion of where we started our governance system is, but, at least, in 710, it was Nara.) As a consequence, you will see several old tombs and mounds here and there in Asuka, which you cannot see in such a famous old city, Kyoto. On the way to your journey of restudying Japanese history, you will find a clean wooden building across the street beside the stone tomb called Ishibutai-kofun tomb. All the menus include the specialties in Asuka, so feel free to choose any one them to taste the sustainable foods from local farmers! It's unfortunate that it can't sit many people as the food was a 10/10, best American-Chinese food I've had. It's really worth ordering food from there even if it takes a little bit for the food to come out, but that's because everything is homemade. It's family owned and run, the family is really nice and the service itself is great. I hope it will rise in popularity as it's a great place to get food.
