I've been getting my eyebrows threading for about 3 years. Used to driving to the south side, I was happy to try a walk-in location closer to home, even if it was more than I usually pay. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. I went on a Monday evening, and waited for about 10 minutes. There was only 1 lady working at the time. She had me sit in a chair while she finished another customer's brows. It was a little uncomfortable sitting in the mall with people staring as they walked by, but nothing that couldn't be dealt with for a good shape. When it was my turn, I was not asked anything regarding my goals - clean-up existing shape or did I want some more sculpting? Granted, I thought that after 3 years of consistent threading she would be able to see my pretty clear shape and what was new growth. Apparently not. It seemed to take twice as long as my eyebrows usually take for threading, and only after she presented the mirror did I find out why - half of my existing shape and eyebrows were gone. To add insult to injury, my left brow had an indent where she had evidently slipped. It appears that, in order to correct the gouge in the left, she took even more off. So my right eyebrow is visibly thicker than the left. The end result - uneven, pencil thin eyebrows, one with a gouge in it, and neither with the arch that I've so spent 3 years having perfected. When I said "Oh, you took a lot off" she said nothing and shuttled me to the register to pay. At that point, she couldn't give me my brows back, so I paid and left, and will not return. read more

After my last experience I think I was a wee bit generous with my prior three star review.... I had tried to get in for waxing at Merle Norman at Southgate with no success so I resigned myself to coming back here as it is on my bus route to go home and I have had success in the past being able to just walk up and be seen right away. I give the lady credit she started out very friendly and took her time to create a pleasing shape. As we got about half way into the service however she started to get a little bit rude. She asked several times if I wanted my upper lip done. I was admittedly a little embarrassed that she pointed it out and informed her that it is something I usually look after myself at home as I worry about how painful threading the upper lip could be. She replied that "no it won't hurt it is quick just like this" and proceeded to bring the thread to my lip and run it across. ] I went from embarrassed to horrified at this point because for one thing she begun performing a service that I did not ask for which now made me feel like I was obligated to pay for it to avoid her creating a scene and secondly it was incredibly painful and I was given no time to prepare myself for it. I never see any kind of a line up for these places larger then two people and now I understand why. It does not qualify as anything near professional to repeatedly point out a customers flaw to try and get them to pay for more services nor did she have any business starting a service I had repeatedly refused to pay for. Avoid this place like the plague and if you absolutely need a walk in service try the Kingsway location....I have had far better experiences there. read more

I'm going on holiday so that means my husband will what to take loads of photos. Of course I'm terrible at planning my eyebrow waxes so I thought I would give this place a try since it was in a convenient location and I could just walk in. The girl was really nice and asked me what I wanted. She did a good job and to wasn't too painful. She took longer than it would take to wax but I think that's just the deal with threading? Anyway she did go back a second time for my left eyebrow and when I got home I noticed it is thinner than the right eyebrow. Whatever. I'll fill it a bit and let it grow out. It was inexpensive and convenient. Now I can get my sightseeing pictures taken without fuzzy caterpillars on my face. Other reviews are aren't as positive but I think it depends on the person working that day. The girl that threaded my eyebrows did have two visitors come by the booth and she was talking to them during my service which was annoying. It made the service take longer than necessary and it as unprofessional. I could do without that. read more

I stumbled upon this little kiosk as I was having a sort of make over day. I had just come from getting my make up done and was pleased with finding a place that can do some quick threading. I had only done my eyebrows once before and I loved the way they turned out for the price of $5, unfortunately the local I went to is in the north side and way too far for me to go regularly. So I decided to pay the $10 bill for the walk in convenience at Kurves. I had to wait an incredibly long time for the ladies to attend to me. There was two ladies and both had clients, I was just so shocked that threading could take so long. The only reason I decided to stay was because I thought it would be a quick fix before my ride arrived, I had begun to worry that I would miss my ride with the amount of time this was taking and I hadn't even been helped yet. Finally, one of them became free and sat me down as she finished with her previous client. When she was done, she inclined my seat and began working without a word of introduction, or questions as to what my preferences were. Which was fine with me, I'm not too much of an expert and time was of the essence if I wanted to catch my ride. After some painful trims, she handed me the mirror and as soon as I saw my reflection, she took the mirror away and inclined me again. Obviously seeing the same thing I saw in that reflection; uneven eyebrows. In the sense that she had made one higher than the other. At this point there was nothing I could really do, I could already tell the difference of quality between my two experiences. My professional first experience was five minutes long and my eyebrows came out wonderful the first time, there was no need for a touch up, it was also less painful. This time, I was beginning to panic with how long she was taking with my brows, imagining pencil thin eyebrows. Luckily that didn't happen, unfortunate as uneven eyebrows are, she was able to make them look even and rushed me to the till. Overall, I'm not going to go back unless I was in similar circumstances of being in a desperate need for threading while I happened to be within that mall. read more

Worst experience ever! I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for over 10 years and I would never recommend anyone go here to have their eyebrows done if they are like me and are very particular about the shape of their eyebrows. Tried it out 2 times first time was not asked questions regarding shape or what I wanted done so had assumed she was just going to clean up my eyebrows following the shape they already were, boy was a wrong she totally changed my shape and they came out uneven. I reluctantly returned a second time a few months later as it was the only place close by that did walk ins for threading I needed that same night and AGAIN was disappointed and they came out worse that the first time. I will not be returning here. Considering they charge almost double than most places for threading, your exposed in a very public place while having it done and clearly they don't know or care about how yours turn out I would not recommend this place to anyone . Both times I went to the one in Londonderry mall . I could not imagine sitting there I'm front of everyone walking by at a kiosk In the mall having your lip waxed ! No privacy at all ! read more

Just rude workers at Londonderry afew years ago. I just stopped by one day to ask a question before doing my brows. I came by the kiosk and said "hi". The girl working was on the phone. She hardly even looked at me. She just said "sit on the chair". I just left and never came back. Which was a good thing because the girl that does threading at Marquis salon in londonderry does an amazing job. Ive heard from others how bad Kurves is aswell. read more

Well, I have had a full opposite review than anyone else! Possible that i have had a good representative. She was a really nice lady at Londonderry ( little one who do not speak fluent English - looked kinda Spanish) my eyebrows are being complimented and noticed by everyone ! And that is making me wants to go back do my eyebrows again and again in the same place! read more
