If you are sick to death of trying to sort through the re-stacked lumber piles at the big orange store or the other American owned blue big box HW store, just to find one or two usable pieces when you wanted 20 ... you should try Peacock. Their lumber is a few pennies more expensive per board foot but I have never seen higher quality AND they don't let idiots rifle through their stacks, destroying all the lumber for other customers. I'm not the world's best carpenter so I need relatively straight and true lumber in order to do a half decent job. I only buy Peacock PT. Great selection of trim and moulding and one of the few places that still has a limited supply of mahogany

Mix in some parts, ducting, doors and it's got the feel of a Chinese Home Depot. Prices were slightly lower than those big box stores, but with lesser known brands here. It was a good sign to see the place busy on a late weekend afternoon. Mostly contractors and DIYers (some with contractors) checking out their renovation options. We also checked another nearby building supplies shop but that didn't come close to the options at Zion Building Supplies.
