If you are Chinese and currently lives in Rowland or Diamond Bar, then you've most likely been to KW cafe. The prices are higher than most cafes in the area and if you've read some of their Yelp reviews, their service sucks and the wait for a table takes forever, but their food is actually really darn good! I've been here for breakfast, lunch, high tea, dinner, and celebrations in their private rooms (birthdays and Lunar NY) and I've never had ever a bad experience. My mom actually comes here at least once a day (she is addicted to this place) so she is friends with staff, therefore I've never seen the waiters rude with bad attitudes. Parking could be bad depending on the time of day of your visit. The restaurant itself is pretty big with private rooms and outdoor covered patio seating. They do close earlier than most restaurants so make sure to double check the hours before heading there. 9/10 - highly recommended! read more

The interior is usually clean with lots of seating. Clam with basil did not have any basil flavoring, small, and had lots of meat fallout. ($22.99) Mixed seafood and tofu did not have much seafood at all, maybe 2 pieces of scallop, shrimp, and fish fillet. Tofu flavor was good but could use more seafood for the price. ($24.99) Crab meat and fish maw vegetable soup lacked flavor with little crab meat and fish maw. Very watered down but gave a lot. ($22.99) Salt and pepper pork chop had no salt nor pepper with fatty pieces. ($18.99) They did include free rice which was nice but would probably not order here again for dinner due to the price and flavor. KW Cafe is one of the top HK cafes in all of Los Angeles. Their ongoing buy 1/2 chicken and get the other 1/2 free keeps me coming back again. Like most people you dine there for breakfast or lunch then you order the 1/2 chicken (get the remaining 1/2 free) and bam you have dinner as well. They have enough space for large family dinners. Huge selection of classic cantonese food and we're very impressed with the king crab and the rest of the seafood dishes we ordered. You must order ahead of time (a few business days) and price is affordable compared to other HK restaurants. So many options from the menu that you can't go wrong. The restaurant has a decent number of tables BUT they are known to get crowded around lunch/brunch times on the weekend, so plan accordingly. Been here a couple of times now, and the food is classic Hong Kong cafe style kind of food, with various meats and vegetables as well as fried rice and different styles of noodles. The place is rarely packed and we're usually able to get seated shortly after walking in, even with a larger group size. Some dishes are not bad, some are average, and some are below average. One of the chicken dishes we ordered the meat was overcooked and dry. I would say rice or noodles dishes are your best bet. KW Cafe is definitely my family's favorite go-to Hong Kong style cafe in RH. Dad-approved, for he grew up HK. We make it out here at least 1 to 2x a month on the weekend to get our Canto lunch fix here. Prices are reasonable. I say it's worth every penny :) Wait hasn't been terribly bad, longest we've waited for coming after 1PM was about 40 minutes. On Mother's Day & Father's Day, wait was about 20-25 minutes. There is outdoor, indoor and private room seating. Restrooms is decently well-kept and clean - usable so not gross. Service has been pretty good. They are usually pretty busy bustling around but you can generally catch their attention. They speak Canto, Mandarin and English if needed. For those who aren't aware these Cantonese-style cafe are known for diverse and reasonable menus, incorporating HK food and HK-style Western cooking dishes. IMO - food is fresh, delicious, and portions are generous. Love brinign leftovers home for food the next day :) My parents in particular raves about the Yuanyang and the Hong Kong Style Iced Lemon Tea served here. My parents highly recommended this place off Colima. They have renovated and replaced the old restaurant that used to be here. The decor is modern with touches of wood. They have a private dining room for 8. We came on a Monday afternoon. There was no wait. Service was not bad. There was a poster on the door advertising their buy 1/2 chicken get 1/2 free. Honestly, I did not care for the chicken. The poor chicken was anemic. There were lots of bones and very little meat. I would not get this dish again! Located off of Colima and Nogales, KW Cafe has made some strides that have given it one of the highest ratings in the Rowland Heights area. And while the heart of the Cantonese community is in San Gabriel, the number of reviews have all spoken positively to this Cantonese place. These all said, I figured I'd give them a try in hopes of adding KW Cafe to my places to visit out east. Taking a look at their menu, there seemed to be a decent variety including favorites like wonton noodle soups to full barbecue platters. For this visit, I decided to order a Salt & Pepper Pork Chop which was about $18 at the time of this review. I ordered this food for takeout, so it was ready to eat in about 15 minutes time. Grabbing the box out of the bag, the first thing I noticed was both how large and heavy it was. To this point, the portion of meat inside was also very large. I made out about 10-15 large pieces inside, each with a great portion of pork. Looking at the breading, the coating was very thin which really let the flavor of the pork shine. For $18 dollars in the Rowland Heights area, the portion was actually very good! In 2024, the benchmark for most Cantonese restaurants in this area is around 16-17 dollars per dish. And for just a dollar more, the food given easily lasted two meals. In all, the quantity of meat was more than initially anticipated and definitely worth it from a quantity perspective. Because the dish is the pieces of pork chop themselves, there aren't too many components to really look at. But though made of few things, the dish was very well made! Each piece of pork was both juicy and tender, which is not something that can be said often about pork in general. The pork chop was savory for the most part. But with the addition of green peppers and green onions, the dish had a hint of sweetness and spiciness that really drove home the balance of many flavors. The ratio of meat to batter was probably the best part of the dish, allowing a light crispiness to counter the more defined cuts of meat. From a taste perspective, the dish was delicious and one I would for sure recommend to order if visiting KW Cafe. If the Salt & Pepper Pork Chop is any indication, KW Cafe has definitely earned its 4 star rating. The portions sizes at this restaurant are generous compared to others of a similar caliber, the taste of the food is authentic to Cantonese culture, and the dish was made all in a relatively short span of time. These being said, KW Cafe is definitely not a spot to miss and easily is a 5/5 star place in my book. I'd be happy to come back in the future for the Salt & Pepper Pork Chop and the many other dishes on their menu! read more

All our dishes were well seasoned and flavorful. The seafood chow mein was crispy and came with a generous amount of seafood too. I ordered this dish at many other cafes before, and theirs is probably one of my favorites because it wasn't too soggy and was packed with flavor. The fries were well seasoned and crispy too. I personally didn't try the bbq pork combo dish, but everyone else loved it. My friend who ordered it said that it was one of the top 3 best bbq chinese dishes he had so far in California! We also ordered their hot hk milk tea as well. The tea wasn't the best hk milk tea I had from a cafe, but it's okay. Awesome place - probably one of top Hong Kong cafes in the area! Highly recommend their roast duck - one of the better places where the meat is juicy and the skin is crispy compared to other places. The pastry that covers the filet mignon is on the softer side but not too oily, and the mashed potatoes were creamy. Based on the reviews and things I've heard from other people I think I made a mistake coming here alone during my lunch break. It seems like this is primarily a family style restaurant. I ordered the BBQ combination plate with Soy Sauce Chicken and BBQ pork ribs. The plate came with a mound of white rice the meat and some veggies. The ribs were tough and not very flavorful. The chicken was mostly bone. Something that bothered me was that you can get 1 meat for $16.99 and two meats for $19.99 but they do not give you twice as much meat. They just cut each portion in half and charge you more. The food came out pretty quickly but no one came by after we received our food. We had to wave someone down for the check.
