    Matcha Soft Serve
    Brian L.

The matcha soft serve here is great! Not much to say other than a good quality matcha ice cream. Great for a sweet treat after dinner if you still have enough room for dessert.

Quick service, easy to order using the iPads. Perfect for a quick dessert to go. A few tables inside so you can sit and enjoy your treats. The best matcha soft serve swirl in the DMV! Reasonably priced as well. Free street parking and free garage parking.

This is an experience! Whether you will like it or not depends on how versatile your taste buds are; at least for older folks like me, younger generations seem to be well acclimated. I tried their matcha latte float, with red bean, mochi, and Hojicha ice cream (toasted tea leaves). I liked it, she didn't at all! The flavors, textures, and mixture milk, ice cream and beans are exotic. The Hojicha ice cream very good; not too sweet with a smoky taste. I recommend it.

After a full dinner at Rockville Town Square, we wandered aimlessly to burn off the calories and found ourselves at Kyoto Matcha (is it Kyoto or Kyo?). The allure of matcha soft serve was overwhelming so we stopped in just to give it a try. And we weren't disappointed at all! The matcha soft serve was cool and bitter, perfectly flavorful without the powdery grit of some matchas. A work of art on a oreo-ish black cone, that's what it looked and tasted like. I will definitely come back, if not for the soft serve, then for the matcha latte's which looked fantastic, too. Kyo Matcha is a great little destination - next time I'm at Town Square, I'll be leaving a little extra room in my belly for Kyoto Matcha! You should, too!

I got the strawberry matcha latte and it was top 5 for me! I went around lunch time, so there were a few people on there but it didn't take long at all. Definitely will be visiting again!

Excellent matcha/vanilla ice cream. Cute interior with both inside and outside seating available. I want to come back to try their matcha latte options.

This place is great and conveniently connected to the BobaBop milk tea shop. Inside, there are several chairs for dine-in, and it's located in Town Square, so there's plenty of outdoor seating available with tables and chairs for a nice hangout. The service was quick and friendly. You can either order through the self-service machine or at the cashier. As for the dessert, it was delicious! We had an ice cream cone and a black sesame mousse cake, both of which were delightful.

I cannot wait to try more items on this menu. Yum! We decided to try the cream puff, tiramisu, chocolate cake and the matcha roll. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our tummies, but also we have ZERO regrets. The cream puff had a crunchy outer layer and a creamy vanilla inner layer that paired so well. The tiramisu had a nice dusting of cocoa and had a great rich mocha like flavor. The matcha roll was so light, I couldn't believe I was eating cake. The chocolate cake, probably my favorite, was amazing. We were fighting over last bites of the chocolate cake. Everything was so rich in their individual flavors, without over powering or being too sweet. I almost can't describe it perfectly enough to do it it's full justice. You just have to try it. We will absolutely be ordering from here again the next time we have a sweet tooth craving. If you haven't already, please give this place a try!

I was really excited to try this place but I wasn't extremely impressed. The best part of our order was definitely the hojicha ice cream. That was amazing and definitely worth trying. It kind of tasted like tea? The Matcha vanilla swirl ice cream didn't taste like much, but I had already tried the hojicha so maybe it got overshadowed? I really was not a fan of the Boba cake. I was very excited, but I don't think the Boba had as much flavor as I wish It did and I wasn't a fan of the texture of the cake. The Boba itself in the drink was also not a flavorful as I wish I was, though the Matcha definitely was strong in a good way. The drink was very flavorful so I appreciated that. Perhaps it was just a tad too strong, which is very rare for me to say, but I think it could have been a little more balanced with maybe syrup or Boba that had a stronger taste. I would probably come back here solely for the ice cream if I was in the area. This place is a little far, so I'm not sure that I would make the trek out here solely for the ice cream, but i can't say I wouldn't.

The inside of Kyoto Matcha is beautifully decorated! I've been here many times before, but I was astonished at the prices. It was $1 just to add a sprinkle of corn flakes, and $7.50 for a cup of ice cream. I felt like the quality of ice cream has gone down from what I remembered unfortunately.

I love Kyoto matcha, I stop by when I am craving a sweet treat. I love the matcha soft serve and the matcha crepe layer cake. They have a machine where you place your order. The staff are friendly.

Venture here after tonight's Yelp event and boy was it a treat! The staff were super friendly and patient with me, they allowed me to sample some treats and the everything was delicious! Clean, bright store was busy for a Tuesday evening. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely venture back over!! Happy Yelping! **& don't forget to check in!! They offer 10% off with checking in :)))

Why don't you have lids on your take out ice cream cup? Is your ice cream cup ONLY one size?

Their ice cream does only come in one size. Also, it’s soft serve. I would t recommend trying to have it delivered or taking it someone over a long distance. Soft serve melts faster than scooped ice cream. I hope this helps!

Is there outdoor seating for the winter?

There is! There isn't that many, but there is ☺️!

Are you open for indoor dining?

We have outdoor setting for now.

Are you guys open for dine in now?

Only for outdoor setting now. Please follow our Instagram and Facebook for newest update. Thanks .

Is it still open during these days?

Yes . We will reopen our store in May 6 for take out only. Thank you and see you soon.

Is the milk ice cream vanilla flavor or a different kind?

    It's vanilla

Do they have alternative milks like soy, oat, coconut or almond?

    Yes!

It was really popular that evening, so the three of got squished at the table meant for two, but we didn't mind. We ordered pretty quickly, but with how busy it was, it took a bit for the food to come out CHILEAN SEA BASS - 37 As I scanned through, my eyes immediately fell on the miso sea bass. Despite the price point, I knew I had to go for it because sea bass is hard to find around here. This set came with rice, house salad, miso soup, and cold tofu. The sides were pretty standard -- no compliments, but no complaints either. On the other hand, the sea bass was wonderful. Super creamy and soft, with a strong miso sweetness that packed so much umami upon each bite. I would definitely splurge on this set just for the sea bass. My friend got the ramen and didn't love it, so I'll probably avoid that during future visits. The katsu curry that the table next to us ordered looked and smelled amazing. Overall, food was delicious and homey. I'd definitely recommend!

The katsu was delicious, and the sashimi was super fresh. The combo also came with the cutest little side dishes, really adorable presentation overall. The staff was also incredibly attentive about my friend's allergies (dairy and nuts). They kept checking in with us and even showed us the sauce ingredients to make sure everything was safe. One of the staff members called my friend "kawaii" after hearing her long list of allergies lol, and honestly, that made my day.

We ordered some app, sushi, and a ton of meats. The sushi was so/so the ikura was a bit fishy/not the freshest, but I gave it a pass since it was included in the AYCE. The fried lotus was surprisingly my favorite non meat dish. Our friend rice was served lukewarm (the consistency of rice was a bit uneven like older rice that was left out for a bit) and way too oily so we had to send it back. Had no issues with the meat and service - although it was a tad slow and the 10 minute cooldown between ordering was unexpected. Our server was great and kept checking in with us. A few items we ordered never made it out to us, but at that point we were too full to care. My main complaint was with one of the hosts. We finished our meal and thanked our waiter and made our way back to the parking garage. From behind, we heard a very loud "EXCUSE ME." We originally thought we had dropped something and someone was looking out for us, but was appalled when she followed us halfway across the street and said "you think you're just going to leave without paying for your mocktail?" That was hands down the rudest I've been treated by a customer service based establishment. I've worked in hospitality and know you should never accuse a customer of anything. To make matters worse, she got the wrong people - we never ordered a mocktail. Will likely not return to Gyuzo for a while and stick to other bbq places with better service.

It's a place that isn't too big, didn't have a crazy pop, but the food hits just right, every time. It's certainly a gem. Yesterday (Friday night), two friends (one celebrating a bday) and I wanted to get some sushi and keep it pushing. We went to Akagi right up the road and got ordering right away. The service? The staff was so kind and treated us like regulars. Jokes, refills, and the owner personally made us some matcha lattes, that really enhanced our night. The server had a great sense of humor and gave solid recommendations (I got the American dream, imma get it again, too!). Everything was highkey delicious. The ambiance is cool, but I wish more people came through. We didn't have a lot of people close by to sing with us, so I had to show the staff - and half of Rockville - my singing prowess (or lack their of) on the happy bday music. Not the Stevie, if you're wondering. For the bday dessert, we split the tempura cheesecake. It was serious work. Seriously. Not too sweet, but something about the crust being fried with the cheesecake filling just took it over the top. Maaan it was good. The sushi? The sushi?! There's a limit on nigiri/sashimi to one piece per order. What that means is that, when you put in your first (and subsequent orders), you can order one tuna, one salmon, etc nigiri/sashimi. That is a lot better than what I originally thought, which was one nigiri/sashimi total for each round. The variety in the AYCE is impressive. Lots of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, salads, soups, variety of appetizers (not all fried stuff!) and hibachi (beef, chicken and shrimp). Tonight, the food arrived pretty quickly after we put in an order. There was an issue toward the end of the evening when the app stopped working at our table and the table next to ours. The Staff did what they could to fix things; it did take about 20 minutes, though. I'm assuming this isn't typical.
