Yummy food, cool atmosphere, I would give this five stars, but the booths your in make it feel as if it's private, until the booth Nextdoor starts talking loudly about obscene things, then you quickly realize, not so good for a nice evening dinner with your daughter.

    Checking out this place!

This place was recommended by one hotel staff. Perfect on a cold pre-blizzard night. We got there early enough and was relieved to get a table even though we didn't have a reservation. Ordered hot green tea and was a bit surprised to be asked if I wanted sweetened or unsweetened. I guess some New Yorkers drink add sugar to their green tea. Straight up traditional green tea for me please! We had: YinYang bowl - a bowl with a divider in the middle, on one side Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and on the other side Sapporo Miso Ramen. Served with Braised Pork, Chashu Pork, Shrimp Tempura, Half Marinated Egg, Bamboo Shoots, Corn, Zucchini, and scallions. I had this one and found the Tonkotsu Shoyu a tad spicy than my liking. The Sapporo Miso was bland compared to the Tonkotsu Shoyu. Super bowl Ramen - served with Braised Pork Belly, Shrimp Tempura, Fried Chicken, Fried Tofu, Zucchini, Half Marinated Egg, Bamboo Shoots, Corn, Scallions, and Wakame in Pork Broth. This broth was more flavorful than the YinYang bowl. I recommend this dish and wished had ordered it myself. Next time. I would go back and try their other ramen. Seems like a local favorite too.

I've been wanting to try Kyuramen for a long time and finally had the opportunity for an early dinner before a show near Times Square. While I certainly appreciate the numerous vegetarian offerings on the menu, the vegan ramen was pretty disappointing. Almost nothing other than the two pieces of tofu had any flavor, and while the broth was labelled as miso, I couldn't really detect that in the base at all. The zucchini skewers were decent. If I were to return, I'd probably stick more to the izakaya-style small plates.

Gross cleaning water bucket right next to our table. Yuck.

Delicious Tonkotsu Shoyu - worth 5 stars. But the cleaning bucket near our table, which was used through our visit to wash the cloths to clean tables, was smelly and gross. I asked the waiter to move it and he didn't. So 3 stars.

Just got back from Japan less than a week ago, so ramen was freshly on my mind. Had the #1 on their menu, shoyu tonkotsu ramen with a negima yakitori stick. Ramen was good, medium depth and flavor from the broth. Tender thinly sliced chashu, bamboo shoots, soft boiled egg were great but I think the flavor adder to the bowl was the wakame as that added the umami to each slurp of the noodles. I couldn't get enough of it and wished I had more after I had eaten all of it. I added some togarashi to it and that added some nice flavor for the 2nd half of my bowl. Negima was good, wished they had an option for that as an option with a bowl of ramen, like 2 sticks and $1 off the reg price of 2 of them, then I would definitely have ordered 2 instead of 1. Drank the entire bowl of soup and smirked as I saw the ありがとう at the bottom of the bowl (see picture). People shouldn't put cayenne pepper in ramen.‍ Service was ok, nothing spectacular or bad in any way.

    Walking into the delightful experience.

I came here with three teenagers -- two of them very picky eaters who swore they weren't going to eat anything. Fast forward 15 minutes later, everyone was happily digging in and raving about the food! We loved the whole vibe -- those cozy private booths make it feel like you've stepped into a little slice of Japan. The call button for service is genius! Every time we pressed it, someone came right away with a smile. The staff was kind, fast, and made our mostly Latina crew feel totally at home. The food? Absolutely amazing. We ordered rice bowls, chicken ramen, and dumplings (they call them something else on the menu, but they were the best pot stickers we've ever had!). Every bite was flavorful and fresh -- truly some of the best food we've had on our NYC trip. If you're in Midtown and want a place that's fun, welcoming, and beyond delicious, Kyuramen on 46th Street is the spot. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the city! Close the theater so no stress 5 minute walk after dinner. Night to remember with the crew.

Date: Friday, May 9th, 2025 Time: around 2:30pm Party of: 3 Meal: Lunch *Takoyaki Octopus Balls: Savory Japanese pancake ball with octopus inside topped with dry bonito flakes, aonori, mayo and teriyaki sauce, 6pcs ($8.99) *Popcorn Chicken: Salt & pepper flavored crunchy bite-sized fried chicken ($8.99) *Salt & Pepper Crispy Corn: Deep fried corn coated with Salt & Pepper ($6.99) *Yinyang Bowl: Served with, Chashu Pork, Shrimp Tempura, Scallop, Baby Corn, Half Marinated Egg, Naruto Maki, Bamboo Shoots, Corn, Scallions, Pork Broth ($20.99) *Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen: Served with, Chashu Pork, Half Marinated Egg, Corn, Bamboo Shoots, Wakame, Scallion, Nori, Pork Broth ($17.99) x2 *Thai Iced Tea ($4.99) *Dassai 45 ($25.99) *Kyoto White Yuzu Ale ($11.99) *Koshi Hikari Echigo ($11.99) Met up with a friend for a quick lunch. We were all staying in Times Square, so I chose a place that was easy to walk to as he had to head back to his hotel afterwards to leave the city. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived. We walked in and easily grabbed a table for 3. For apps, I wanted the chicken and the balls. The octopus balls were tasty with a nice chewy. I wish the chicken pieces were meatier, but I reminded myself this was popcorn chicken and not karaage. I got the spicy ramen. It could have used more heat as I ordered the spiciest level, but the broth wasn't too rich and had a nice savoriness. I like drinking the soup, so I tend to like lighter blander broths. Service was fine. Tho the corn took forever to arrive. I think they may have forgotten? It showed up at the end of our meal, so it turned into takeaway. They do have a game where if your bowl says free whatever, you get that item on your next visit. I don't think the split one qualifies tho. I lost, one in our party won free dessert. No one drinks all the soup, so you need a throw away bowl to play this game. Or just pour the soup, etc, between two different bowls. Quick easy lunch if you are craving noodle soup in Times Square. There's a quite a few ramen choices in town, so it can be hard to differentiate. Their Yinyang Bowl is just that gimmick, allowing you to enjoy two different ramen flavors at once. I'm a big fan of variety, so this was a hit with me. Yinyang Bowl (Tonkotsu + Spicy Miso): The tonkotsu was pretty standard; that's my go to ramen benchmark. Creamy broth and firm noodles. Odd choice to add some shrimp tempura, but I like shrimp tempura, so it was fine. The Spicy Miso was a nice amped up contrast to the mellow Tonkotsu. It's Japanese spicy, not like Korean Spicy or Szechuan Spicy, so only a little tang. Still quite flavorful.

We walked in and was able to get a table really quickly and did not wait. The ramen came out super fast, so they definitely already had everything prepared, but it was still good and fresh. Ambiance was a cute place, where we sat was quiet and in the back as well.

I was not a fan of this place. The ramen lacked flavor and I actually found a knat in mine which wasn't ideal. The noodles weren't particularly good and I thought they were rather basic. The Takoyaki was excellent and that was probably my favorite part, as was the dessert. The bubble tea was good, pretty standard. Service was fine. Attentive but nothing to write home about. Ambiance is fine. I sat at the bar counter. I probably wouldn't return. While you get a lot for your money, there are many other better quality restaurants in NYC.

My dinner here was OK but not quite as expected. I opted for the only vegetarian combo - chili garlic edamame and vegetable miso ramen - and a matcha pudding with red bean. The edamame had nice but inconsistent bite from the chili oil. The ramen broth had some depth but could have been richer; it benefitted from adding shichimi tōgarashi but I added too much (my fault). The ramen noodles had a mushier consistency than I like. The matcha pudding was mildly sweet as expected, improved by the accompanying dollop of fresh milk. Since most of the beverage choices were sweet, I opted for green tea served hot. Big mistake. The tea had a spiciness I have never experienced (I've had green tea many times, including in Japan). That spice combined with the tea's thermal heat made it almost undrinkable, casting a pall over my meal. I had to wait a while before my server came back and I could get the bill. I would have welcomed more attention.

The food is ok. Why does the tonkatsu ramen taste like mala flavor ? Hmmm. The kimchi is ok Good thing was it closes at 130 am. Great for a late night supper.

I visited here in the fall and just remembered to post about my group's comedically bad experience here. The food was good, especially my hot stone pot rice dish, but our server was so rude, it was unbelievable. Our server, I assume a college-aged kid, seemed to hate working here. I'm not sure why or how he got into the service industry because had a sullen RBF the whole time, from the moment we were seated until the very end. My friends and I speculated if he works here because he is related to the owners. Who knows. He disappeared for some time, forgot an order, told us we couldn't split our bill, never smiled, and didn't seem to care AT ALL. Fortunately, another server was swapped in at the end. She was much better! I usually have terrific service in NYC, but this has to be the worst I've experienced in a decade. The other servers were friendly, but this guy was miserable. It was laughably bad. Truly.

The spot is special (literally, you head below street level to get in), which somehow makes it feel even more like a NYC secret you're in on. Small, cozy, dimly lit in the best way, and staffed by people who are genuinely warm. We started with the tempura sweet potato fries and dumplings, both of which disappeared off the table fast. I went with the shio truffle ramen homemade chicken broth, homemade chicken chashu, half ajitama, bean sprouts, menma, shiso, truffle paste, and nori and it was easily one of the best bowls I've had in the city. The truffle paste takes it from "great ramen" to "why haven't I been here sooner," and the homemade chashu is so tender it practically melts before you even chew. Five bowls at the table, five very happy campers. Bonus: it's a quick stroll from Central Park, so pair a bowl here with an afternoon in the park for a genuinely great NYC day. This spot delivers the kind of authentic paitan that reminds you why people used to line up on cold sidewalks just for a bowl. I ordered the Paitan Ramen Deluxe, and it genuinely lives up to the name. The broth is silky, rich, and comforting without being overly salty which is exactly what a proper paitan should be. The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth. You can taste the care in the soup base; it has depth, not just heat or salt. If you loved Totto Ramen back in the day, this feels like its modern successor same spirit, new precision.
