He argued with me when I said that the "roast beef" on the menu was just a hard steak and I wanted a soft roast beef as it was mentioned on the menu. So when I said that he went off on me saying that "yes, it is a steak indeed but locally it is called a roast beef." My point is that the waiter should have explained that the "roast beef" on the menu is just a steak and not a roast beef when I was ordering. Instead I got yelled at... The whole fried fish was alright. The duck was also alright. Their beef broth soup with dumplings was amazing, the cheese dumplings are not cheese dumplings but meatballs with some cheese inside. I wasn't told it as well but I was pleasantly surprised. Their flat cheese pancakes were delicious too. We spent over 200 Euros for four people. I cannot say we enjoyed the experience... I do not recommend this place.

Probably the best of the trip frankly. Don't be put off by the cafeteria style ordering process. You've entered a small bergs eating and watering hole and you won't be disappointed. When ordering or deciding What to order, ask to see the dish or meat first if you're not sure. Least favorite of the stop was the cold potato salad and the 'ok but not lakefront brewery' obatzda. (If you haven't had lakefront brewery's obatzda on your pretzel, you haven't lived). After a day at the castles, take a little longer drive to visit here. Be sure to call in advance for reservations and if it's early, when they say no, tell them you'll be in and out in under 2 hours. Maybe you'll get a seat.

I went for the 1/4…read morechicken, and regretted that upon taking my first bite - it was so delicious, so tender, that I could have easily forgone some of the potatoes on the side for more of that amazing chicken. But, I should start with the salad, which was also delicious. I was so impressed with the starter salads we ate throughout Bavaria, as each probably had eight or ten components. The salad here, as well as the dressing, was wonderful (as was the King Ludwigs beer). As noted previously, the chicken was incredible, and the dessert was perfect for full stomachs. Service was quick and polite, and the staff spoke enough English to help our struggling American group. If you're staying in Hopfem, make a reservation here - and get as much chicken as you can! :)
