This was my second time in Germany and the first time I picked up one smoker in the black forest when I was studying abroad, but this time I wanted a Christmas pyramid of my own and upon finding this shop I knew I'd come to the right place. Kathe Wolfhahrt is the quintessential holiday shop in Germany. You'll find anything and everything iconically christmas for this region of the world and it will not let you down. On this trip I found a great pyramid that I'll get to enjoy with my own family and added a charming little chubby cat man smoker to our holiday collection. I'll caution you that it isn't cheap, but I do think the quality of this shop is much better than other little vendors you'll find in the region, and honestly even if you don't end up purchasing anything it's a really fun shop to explore and look at these pieces of German artwork.

Moore and Michaels in the USA minus the home deco extravagance that Hobby Lobby boast and the crafting machines you can purchase for different crafts. The store does have deco like framing but not variety and flowers and jars and paints and materials and jewelry making and scrapbooking and so on. I'll definitely be going back to this craft store. This craft store along w/ The P Cookery in Ludwigsburg Is my favs. There's one more that's in Esslingen in the shopping area of stores where they have there yearly Medieval Christmas Market. I sort of fell in love with this place…read more Yeah, it's expensive for certain things, especially rubber stamps and inkpads - but the staff that helped me were really friendly; the guy who explained about calligraphy pen nibs actually brought over a book they sold there to show me what was what (mentioning how one needed practice, and of course a book - good salesman ; ) ) . So yeah. I had a really good time, and if I ever find a job in Germany or win the lottery or discover a big pile of money on the side of the road, I'm spending my first paycheck/all the money here. The German ornaments, nutcrackers, smokers, and other beautiful holiday decorations are some of the best quality that you will find anywhere. The authentic hand-made pieces are pricey. For many years this shop has had single narrow pathway that winds from the entrance to the register and the exit. Every year the shop gets very crowded, the line moves slowly, and the employees get very grumpy. A statue of the Frankfurt famed write, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, is also located here. Impressive statue with steps for sitting and feeding the birds. Cute paved park for enjoying the day and people watching. You will not be bored in this area of town with shopping, walking, eating or just soaking up the sun.
