It is hard to visit and not to try them all. My favorite one was the Finnish Sauna, as for me it is a way to finish off my sauna cycle before diving into the cold bath... then I go back and do it again! The most interesting one was probably the sauna that looked like a jungle or a rain forest. Fairly warm and very very humid. ***LOUNGE AND DINING*** It was a very special interior. Relaxing on couches around a fire, or sitting at the table/bar... there is nothing getting in the way of you relaxing. The staff were able to explain everything on the menu to me and make recommendations as well. I would suggest trying the small appetizer at the kitchen's discretion. Not sure if it is the same every time, but I was shocked to see the variety and size. It had cheese, chicken wing, cheese, crackers, guacamole and chips, salad, sausages, and even beef tartar. This was only 11 euros! ***OTHER AMENITIES*** Cinema, terrace, outdoor lounge, pool, infrared saunas, steam room, foot bath, light therapy room, and more! There is so much to do there. Totally worth making a stop and spending half a day here, if not a whole one. You will feel rejuvenated after your visit, ready for your next exploration!

I was greeted warmly and my coat and shoes were collected. I was led back to a small partitioned room where the masseuse instructed me to undress and hang up my clothes. She gave me a few moments and stepped back in to provide the best massage that I've had in my life. She took instruction well, paying particular attention to areas of sensitivity and pain. She avoided areas that I asked and checked in often to ensure that I was comfortable. Care was taken to avoid getting oil in my hair. I appreciate that very much. The cost was reasonable and the facilities were very well maintained. My only issue was with the constant chatter from another area. It was difficult to relax with the noise from the other guests but that may just be something to which I need to adjust.

I always get the Thai massage, while The Wife gets the relaxing massage. The Thai massage is authentic and perfect for deep tissue work. The Wife says the masseuses are flexible and willing to work on, for example, just your shoulder if that's what's bothering you. The prices are very reasonable for their high level of service. The decor is traditional and comfortable. (always check for a picture of either the King or Rama V; both are good signs, but if you get Rama V you know the place is Old School whether it's a massage spa or a restaurant). The ambience is quiet, as you'd expect, and the personnel are very friendly. For anyone not familiar with Thai massage, Bangkok Wellness is fairly typical. You come in, remove your coat and shoes, then they take you to a long row of massage platforms all curtained off from each other for privacy. You change into a variant of Thai fishermans' pants (they got rid of the traditional ones and replaced them with ones with elastic; real fishermans' pants can be a bit challenging to put on if you're not used to it.) They wash your feat, then generally you'll have an hour long massage that will include not just massaging, but also pulling and pushing muscles. It can be intense, but they will always ask if it's too hard or painful, so don't be afraid to let your masseuse know if it's not comfortable. Afterward they will offer you tea or water and as you recuperate in the lounge for a while. They have a great location right in the center of town that fits in perfectly with a day of shopping in Haarlem. Definitely call first for a reservation as they are usually busy.

Yes, prices are a good 20% hiked up compared to outside the airport but if needs must..... I started off with a free 10 minute chair massage that was really lovely and was full body. Then my esthetician, (Ludwina) led me to a back room which is for waxing. They only have the one room, and so I got lucky that they didn't have another client, otherwise I'd have had to wait. Ludwina was great! Very through and meticulous. The hot wax used was very nice and afterwards, an oil as well as an Aloe Vera gel was used on my skin - the former to remove any stray bits of wax and the later to help calm the skin. De lichaamstemperatuur stijgt en de stoom en warmte stimuleren bloedsomloop en lymfecirculatie. Lichaamsscrub; het scrubben is een intensieve manier om de huid te reinigen en van dode huidcellen te ontdoen. U wordt ingezeept met traditionele olijfzeep. Het scrubben zelf gebeurt met een ruw (scrub)washandje waarmee stevig over de huid wordt gewreven. Dit gebeurt krachtig, maar uiteraard niet pijnlijk. You can just come in, dont need to make an appointment, and you will be seated at a big table and served some tea, coffee, etc. As mentioned my hair is curly and very difficult to brush..which means that most of the hairdressers in the Netherlands just start at the top of my head and put the comb/ brush down..and it doesnt work...it hurts like hell...you can imagine how much I love going to hairdresser...this time it was not different.. When I started complaining I heard: Who wants to look nice they must suffer! ..Ah..this is a phrase I might hear in jokes from my friends, but not from someone providing service that I need to pay for..ah..that is unacceptable. As for the highlights...I asked for the outgrow of my highlights..which means that you need to refresh the roots...and unfortunatelly I got about 1/3 of the amount of highlights I got. This will not be a hair salon I will come back to. I still hope I can find a good hair dresser in the Netherlands that will take care of my hair like their own and provide a great service. The search continues....
