I bought my house in Sherman Oaks in 1997 and while I was out of town on work for a couple months…read moreshortly after moving in, El Nino hit. Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. I think that if you meet with a number of roofers, you will agree with me. I highly recommend...

My neighbors (6 total) all used The Final Touch roofing and I did not. I went with a slightly cheaper roofing company and was disappointed. I watch as my neighbors had The Final touch meticulously replace the roofs on their homes. Every detail was addressed, the plywood, the underlayment, the gutters, the tear off and of course, the clean up. This exquisite work was observed as I walked my dog daily and asked questions of my neighbors and the crew working as I was in the market for a new roof. Ovi and his wife are perfectionists and their commitment to quality is unsurpassed. Don't make the mistake I did and go with the cheaper company that promises the same quality, it's not worth it. In the end I didn't save any money, I only got aggravation and excuses from the company I used and will probably have to redo some of the work.

On came out to inspect the roof and pointed out the various problems on the roof, and suggested a full replacement on the bathroom section. I also inquire about work on our garage (though it's not leaking, but it's in need of replacement). On gave me an estimate of work for both garage and bathroom in a terrific value; I was shocked initially since no other contractor has given me such a reasonable estimate. Written and later official estimate was given, and the cost, part, work was exactly as quoted (aside from plywood needed for the garage) On is very genuine and respectful. He maintains a very high level of communication, and you just feel greatly welcomed when talking to him. Out of the 4 days of work done, On is pretty much there every day to inspect and verify proper work is done by the crew. When the crew do finish their work at the end of each day, there is NO mess left behind in the house/garden. Everything is cleaned up and nearly placed by the wall. My wife was shocked and commented that the yard was cleaner than the day before. AAA Expert Roofing did a fantastic job in my home repair, and I'm glad I ve selected them.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.

LA Builders & Roofing just replaced my roof and gutters. GeorgI responded to my request for an estimate, arrived promptly, took a video of the areas and explained what was needed including each process. He suggested I call him after getting other scheduled estimates since they were my first. My roof was very old and I had done lots of research on the best method and materials. I'm familiar with State regulations, so that was more important to me than price. After receiving 3 other estimates, none of them were as comprehensive in detail, made me feel confident of experience, and quality as Georgi did because he covered each of my concerns during the interview. LA Builders never pressured me with numerous calls for business as the other companies! My initial estimate changed because of issues discovered during the process but Georgi worked with me to get it done. The crew arrived promptly each day, they were courteous and cleaned up the area before leaving. They even power-washed my pavers upon roof completion! Georgi came every day and checked in often. If I had a question, he responded, gave suggestions and followed up to make sure I was pleased. The process timeline was on target each day. Roof was replaced by them in July 2020. Late review. We had called 2 other roofers for estimates. One was "cash-only" and the other gave an estimate based on Google's satellite photos. We called them in July. John came (masked and gloved) and inspected and measured our roof. He then discussed ALL roofing options including the pros and cons of solar. We felt he knew his stuff and we went with them. Several financing options were offered. They took care of the permit process and we reimbursed them. Work started on Monday and they finished that Friday. They cleaned up at the end of each day and John came by several times to inspect progress. 100% satisfied. We've had some rain and high winds since and zero issues. Icing on the cake - WE MENTIONED to him that we also needed to replace our circuit breaker panel. They worked with an electrical contractor and their estimate was in-line w/ our previous estimates from over the years. Again, several financing options were discussed for this as well. Now, no leaks, we don't stress and run outside every time it's windy, and our AC don't shut off when it exceeded 90 this past summer. read more

Great experience, amazing job. Setting the appointment was easy-breezy with Michelle, she called and confirmed it the day before. The project manager George came over, very nice, very friendly guy. My wife and i had a lot of questions for him, he explained everything in details and left us with their proposal. We took total of 4 estimates, some cheaper some more expensive, George was the only one who followed up with us, so after careful consideration we decided to go with them. Projects went fast, it took 1 week. They started on Monday and was done by Saturday. There was lots of trash all around, they cleaned up everything very well. Installed the new materials and now we are ready for the rainy season. We decided to go with Owens Corning duration cool plus Midnight color, that what George recommended and from what we read was really one of the best options. Had the metal cap on top of my chimney blow off in some strong winds and tried for two weeks to have someone come and take a look. Was worried about rain coming in and having no cap on the chimney. Called LA Builders on 11/16/20 in the am and they had someone out in the afternoon. Guy climbed the roof and showed me some pics of what was going on. Realized that besides rain the exposed chimney could easily have embers land on it and burn the house down in a fire. Lost 37 homes in our development during Woolsey Fire. Gave me a quote which seemed a little high but reasonable and he gave me a firm date of 11/30 for installation, which was important to me, so I went with the company. Other companies were giving me dates as late as 1/8/2021. Came back the next day and took off my other chimney cap too and would replace both and bolt them down. Arrived promptly at 7am on 11/25/20 (five days early) with both new caps. Installed and done by 9:30. read more

He was thorough and patient with us when we were making decisions about type of roofing and explained the process to us at length. We also wanted more natural light in our home and George helped us in deciding where the solar tubing would be most beneficial. We are so pleased with the workmanship. We hired LA Roofing for our high pitch roof. We chose Simon & LA roofing as we felt most comfortable with them, they were very informative and professional. We have a very difficult roof as it is a very high pitch roof mostly, Simon was the only roofer that actually went on the Roof to get the exact measurements when all the other companies just gave us a rough estimate without even going on the roof. The crew started on time, kept the work environment clean at all times & were very polite and respectful. We had many issues that were incorrect in our previous roof installation as it's an old roof (33 years old) but they corrected everything and now the roof is amazing! OMG.... This guy is GOD send, I requested for him to assemble a coffee table he did such a wonderful job and that table is a heavy duty table it came out beautifully!! We had a minor leak after the last heavy rain and La roofing came out the same day I called. Dan identify the source of the leak which was a cracked vent hood within 10 minutes. *Would Hire Again*…read more [Project Scope] Re-roof on a one story single family house, including new underlayment, drip edge, composite shingles, plus sheathing repairs and ventilation updates. FWIW, in my line of work we nit-pick over details & craftsmanship. I bring those expectations--for better or worse--to maintaining my house. Unsurprisingly, I tend to find some level of fault with any contractor. [Communication] The project manager (Danny) and front office (Melissa) were quick to answer the many questions I had via email, text, and phone. They were patient while I took my time selecting a contractor. They also coordinated directly with my solar contractor so the rooftop PV system was off the roof for no longer than necessary. The PM was out briefly each day to check the work and collect payment. [Availability] I didn't need the work done urgently, but Smart Roofing did start work within two weeks of signing the contract and finished within 3 days. [Warranty] One reason I chose this company was their standing as Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, which gets a workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning (except the solar penetrations in our case), should the contractor ever go out of business. [Workmanship] Crews (separate tear-off and install) were on-time, respectful, and cleaned up each day. Overall, the work appears to be done well, though I'm no roofer. The way some of the holes in the roof were cut and flashings set did seem to be rushed, but so far it's watertight and that's what matters. The original sheathing had large gaps, which I asked to be fixed, although they may have done so without my asking, that wasn't communicated one way or another. They handled the addition of an exhaust vent flashing, relocation of a vent flashing, and removal of an unused vent flashing as per my request. [Issues] At some point, the furnace b-vent was pushed into the attic, breaking an elbow inside the attic. I ended up getting the part and doing the repair myself. Similar as well with the water heater b-vent: it was pushed down and crushed a section, but wasn't caught by the crew. Plus, the vent was reset at an angle so it's now pressed up against the house. Finally, while cleanup went fairly well, there was still trash and a few handfuls of nails scattered throughout the property, roof, and gutters--a small complaint and probably par for the course. Slightly-related... at no point did a Simi Valley building inspector come onto our property. For both inspections, a truck appeared across the street, yet no one got out. No looking at the back of the roof, no rooftop inspection, no check that sheathing was sound and work done correctly. What a joke, that $560 payment to the city. Decided to do a full roof underlayment replacement, searched on Yelp and received 4 quotes with almost identical materials from 4 different licensed roofers. Quote from Evi at Smart Roofing is the lowest with a bit more coverage, and Evi always answered my questions in a timely manner. Eventually signed a contract with Evi, project started in March during the hottest week. Evi kept me posted on a daily basis, and their crews are friendly and hard working, cleaned up before leaving every day. 1st day to demolition, 2nd day for city inspection and material delivery, then it took 3 days to complete the installation of Westlake Royal TileSeal HT underlayment. Smart Roofing offers unlimited plywood and tile replacement as needed, and they do not subcontract, all crewmembers are employed by Smart Roofing. Evi brought company's insurance document along with different underlayment samples when coming for an estimate, my project is backed by 10-year labor warranty and 30-year underlayment manufacturer warranty. Need to wait for the rain season to see how everything holds up, many thanks to Evi and all the crewmembers.

He recommended replacing the shingles completely on all the roof lines since they apparently had not been installed correctly be a previous contractor. His estimate allowed for patch replacement of the plywood, and said he thought that would be enough. I asked around some friends about the price and was told it was a good price for the job, so we went ahead. Benjamin and Robert (the foreman) were super responsive and very helpful and they operated under a tight timeline (I was leaving on an extended trip to India at the end of the week so there was no ability to run over the timeline). They completed all the work, dealt with permitting and inspections, and were scrupulous in cleaning up, so no flat tires from discarded nails littering the forecourt in front of the house. They sent a full crew of people to work on the roof which is one of the reasons why the work finished so quickly. I also needed one urgently because LA was due to very heavy rainfall (the most recent one that started right before Christmas and ended two days ago). I'm very particular whenever I search for a new vendor because I've met with literally hundreds of different contractors/vendors/trade specialists in my lifetime due to renovating multiple properties in different cities. My search strategy might be overkill for some but it pays off for me in the long run - Once a highly rated business has been identified, I cross reference the business using different platforms such as Yelp, Thumbtack, Google, Houzz and Angi. I then further drill down to see how long the business has been around, if they have any complaints with the BBB, and what the least satisfied comments look like. Anytime Roofing was one of a handful of companies I was interested in. I contacted them using Yelp's quote system and I called them as well. Aviv answered my call and told me he could have somebody inspect my roof as early as the next morning and told me he could start on repairs the same day if I agreed to his pricing. This was ideal since the rain was due to start the following afternoon. I also later noticed Aviv responded to me via the Yelp messaging system as well. At 7:30 am the next morning, Aviv's roofer came on time and inspected my concrete tiled roof. I was then contacted by Aviv and given a verbal estimate over the phone. After I agreed to the price, he immediately sent over a written estimate via email for me to review and sign. Half my payment was due before the work started and the other half would be due upon completion. There is a 4% credit card charge if you do not want to pay via cash/Zelle. I needed a minimum of 300 square feet of underlayment replaced and some new wood installed as some of my existing wood was damaged. This was also a rush job since heavy rain was going to start later that day. Aviv mentioned he felt more underlayment should be replaced as he saw extensive damage but told me this could be done later and there should be no leaks with this current repair. The work was completed in roughly 8 hours and there were no leaks to be found after 4 straight days of heavy rain. Aviv also followed up a day after the rain stopped to inquire how my roof held up to the storm which I felt was a nice touch. I highly recommend calling Aviv and Anytime Roofing for a quote whether it's an emergency repair or if you are collecting bids for larger underlayment projects. He may not be the absolute cheapest roofing business you can find but he responds promptly, his roofers are punctual, and the ease and quickness of the estimate process are things you don't typically find with other roofing companies. Reliability and consistency are important factors that I feel deserve a premium as well.

I called him up the night I made the decision to go with Anytime Roofing and he said okay he'll send his crew the very next day! Will and his crew did a fantastic job, they were worked really hard on the hottest day of the summer and even did a great clean up job. He was very sweet and gave me a ton of before and after pictures of the job. The job is so dangerous I couldn't watch him go up and down the ladders holding really heavy Spanish tiles.
