The blue frontage, white tablecloths, and wicker chairs gave the terrace a charming, distinctly French atmosphere. We started with a simple plate of radishes, cherry tomatoes, and pâté, followed by the heirloom tomato salad with onions. It was incredibly fresh, naturally sweet, and a great way to begin the meal. We also ordered the roasted bone marrow, which was rich, buttery, and perfect spread over the rustic bread. For the main course, we had the grilled beef served with its sauce on the side. The meat was flavorful, tender, and cooked exactly as requested. The thick-cut fried potatoes were crisp outside, fluffy inside, and among the best side dishes we had during our trip. Dessert was a wonderful finish. The vanilla crème brûlée had a perfectly caramelized crust with a silky custard beneath, while the walnut ice cream was creamy, rich, and full of flavor. A special thanks to our server, Margianne, who was sweet, cheerful, and genuinely pleasant throughout the evening. Her warm personality made the experience even more enjoyable. La Tupina isn't about modern presentation or elaborate fine dining. It's about honest, traditional Southwestern French cooking served in a timeless Bordeaux setting. If you're looking for an authentic taste of the region, this is a place well worth visiting.

Staff surprisingly didn't offer much in terms of recommendations even when asked, and though they were friendly enough, they seemed to be going through the motions. Wine list was solid, though not great. There was very little in terms of truly outstanding producers, and it was a bit overpriced. We did have a nice bottle but not necessarily something that blew our minds. I expected a better wine list for such a classic Bordeaux restaurant. Last, the food was a bit average. My wife and I shared the Chateaubriand, Pot au Feu, and fries. The steak was very good, but the food in the Pot au Feu was a bit bland and soft -- we didn't eat much of it. The fries were fine but could've been crispier. Overall, I'm happy I finally got to visit this iconic spot, but I think the kitchen and wine list are in need of a bit of an overhaul.
