Of the two sister bars, I feel like Martiny's is better for food-and-drinks-focused winter outings and L'americana is preferable for more social summer hangs. Doesn't mean the latter's cocktails aren't inventive, expertly crafted, and delicious, though. The reason L'americana is great for summer is obviously the spacious patio/sidewalk seating area. It's best for couples or small groups. Our party of two was seated immediately on a gorgeous Saturday evening in May, though the space was close to full. Tomatini (gin, tomato water, cream cheese, basil, genepi, lemon): It feels like tomato martinis are everywhere lately. This one is a little creamy, a little sweet, and has a basil powder rim and a few drops of olive oil. Spiced Cacao Negroni (tequila, Campari, Mancino rossi, white cacao, ancho Reyes): I have trouble with intensely bitter flavors, and this is certainly bitter thanks to the Campari, but I really enjoyed it anyway. Came here for drinks and had a great time! I typically do not love alcohol that much at restaurants, but the tomato martini at L'Americana blew me away! Over the course of a few hours, I had way too many of these. The taste is a clear and crisp tomato flavor without being messy from the alcohol. There is also an olive oil infusion that the server adds right before serving which adds a nice dash of flavor to the drink. We were wait-listed at a hot cocktail bar (Martiny's), and decided to bide our time at L'Americana just around the corner. Little did we know that Martiny's and L'Americana are under common ownership - and that the craft cocktails at L'Americana are FANTASTIC! I enjoyed the "Porcini Fashioned" - an Old-Fashioned riff with bourbon, rye, porcini-infused maple, a smoked bay leaf, and star anise garnish. It was a beautiful cocktail, masterfully prepared by the bartender. I also enjoyed a raspberry Hot Buttered Rum - a decadent and tasty concoction. The cocktail menu has an Italian classics theme, but with many detours to explore like the "Yuzu and Mustard Sour." Our bartenders were kind and attentive. Great spot! Came here on a Saturday night just for drinks so will only comment on that. They do offer food though so if you're hungry, that is an option. Vibes were great. We got seated almost immediately and bartending staff and wait staff were all very amicable. They had a bunch of interesting cocktails that I wanted to try but unfortunately, I can only drink so much. Every drink is a piece of art and carefully curated. I started off the the Boulevard Quarter which was kind of their take of an old fashioned. The wakamono added a bit of sweetness to contrast its bitters element. The genmai tea is subtle so if you're a bourbon lover, give this a try. The raspberry Hot Buttered Rum is a hot cocktail almost like a hot toddy. Although it sounded like a liquid tiramisu with their mascarpone, cream and milk, it wasn't too sweet and not too tart either with the raspberry element. Perfect for a cold/chilly night. It was in the 50s when we were there. Lastly, I tried the matcha Staut. It is definitely on the thicker/creamier side but it reminds me of a matcha cocktail that I had in Kyoto. I am always partial to matcha so this was def my favorite. Add a hint of pistachio creme like they did and it was *chef's kiss*. 10/10 recommend. read more

The drinks were pretty good As for the interior, after living in London I was reminded a bit too much of Weatherspoons for some reason which maybe detracted from the experience and thought the lighting was maybe a bit too bright for later at night. Kind of a joke to ask a group of 5 to HAVE to get a drink each and pay 20% tip in order to get a table in a completely empty space on a Wednesday night. We were easily going to get drinks (hence being here) but asking for a minimum and for mandatory tip when the space is empty is wild. Very disappointing. read more

Excellent cocktails. Beyond the cocktails, L'Americana has an identity crisis. Is it a bar, is it a restaurant, is it American, is it Italian, is it Japanese? We don't know, because they don't know. Did I mention that the cocktails are excellent. The small bites are good. While nothing amazing, they are fine with the cocktails (which are great by the way). The rest of the menu should be avoided. So, go for cocktails and some small and then go elsewhere for dinner or go to dinner and then come in for a nightcap or two. The sooner L'Americana recognizes that it an amazing cocktail bar the better. Service is excellent. read more

Came for drinks. Tamuka aka Mr. Martiny helped design the bar menu here, so you get some quality. It is nowhere near the quality at Martiny's, but the L'Americana is a very cool drink. L'Americana definitely feels more comfortable and chill in comparison. It's the kind of spot where you can bring a big group of friends, eat, drink, be loud, and not feel out of place or worry about getting shushed. While the food seemed pricey, I doubt many people go here for dinner--it's definitely more of a cocktail bar. We snagged a cozy leather corner booth with brick walls, dark wood accents, and super friendly servers. Our Drinks: Elderflower & Peach Spritz: A St Germain base with peach, lemon, prosecco, and rosemary. This was such a fun, fruity, bubbly drink--like summer in a glass! I preferred it over a classic Aperol Spritz since it wasn't as sweet and had a slightly sour edge. Asian Marg: I can't find this on the menu, so I'm not sure how my friends got it, but it was light, refreshing, and had a subtle cucumber flavor. Salt & Coco: Coconut rum, white cacao, coconut water, heavy cream, and charcoal salt. A creamy, tropical delight--think Malibu, but make it fancy. It might be because I'm not an experienced cocktail drinker (I usually just drink whiskey), but I was really impressed with the variety and unique flavors and sensations of the cocktails here. I tried six of them (three of my own and tasted three of my friend's). Also the rigatoni primavera that I got was very tasty. The calamari was good, but felt pretty standard. We sat at the bar. The staff was super friendly and engaging. Also, for a cocktail bar, they had a pretty selection of whiskey of various kinds (scotch, bourbon, Japanese, and others) and mezcal.
