Conveniently located inside the Kimpton Eventi in Chelsea, which is where we were staying. My friend and I went for brunch one morning, and were seated right away next to a window which was great for people watching. Our waitress was quick and friendly. We ordered two of their fresh pressed green juices which were delicious and refreshing. We started with the tuna crudo as an appetizer and it was light and and crisp and fresh. We also ordered the tiramisu French toast, the burrata with pesto and English peas, and a side of the sausage. We could not stop remarking on how great everything was. The sausage was unlike any other breakfast sausage I've had, it was incredible. The burrata was savory and the French toast was heavenly. Not a good dinner spot. Don't recommend. We were a party of two and the table we got sat at was not enjoyable. It was extremely close to the other tables so much so that when I had to get in and out of my seat I'm pretty sure my butt swiped the opposing table. All I could hear was the peoples voices who were sitting next to me. As far as drinks- total let down. I ordered a dirty martini which didn't come to me dirty like I had asked and the olives were terrrrrible. I can't even explain it because I've never eaten a bad olive. They were small but the taste was like dish soap and nothing at the same time. It was very strange. My boyfriend also ordered an espresso for dessert and he said it was terrible. The menu is small and nothing comes with sides so if you are someone who enjoys options and a healthy portion- you won't find it here. I ordered the sausage pizza which was in fact very delicious actually but I only ordered it because nothing else looked filling enough. My boyfriend ordered the sea bass and it was good....just good. It tasted like sea bass everywhere else I've had it. Nothing special. All in all I wouldn't go back nor would I recommend this restaurant. It just didn't check the boxes. My friend and I stumbled upon L'Amico while searching for Italian food near the Flatiron. At first, it looked promising with its upscale decor, elegant atmosphere, and promising menu. The restaurant was dim-lit with comfortable and intimate seating. The kitchen was visible throughout the restaurant and the staff was friendly. We had a short wait to sit and got our orders in quick. We ordered the Eggplant Caponata Bruschetta and the White Mushroom Pizza. The bruschetta was pretty good with seasoned mozzarella and sauteed eggplant topped with pine nuts. It was a solid appetizer that I would order again. After this, though, everything went downhill. That mushroom pizza was probably one of the worst I have ever had. It was topped with so much mushroom that I could barely taste anything else. It felt like I was just eating a heap of raw mushroom, leaving a terrible taste in my mouth. The cheese was also different, which is ok, but there was no warning on the menu that the cheese may have a unique (stinkier) flavor profile. We only ate two slices before asking for the check. Though the restaurant is upscale, the food did not live up to its potential. The prices were way too high for the small portions and lack of quality. The dollar slice we had after was ten times better than the $27 pizza we had at L'Amico. I probably won't come here again. 3/5 stars. read more

Came here for brunch on a rainy Sunday. It was honestly one of the best brunches I had in a long time and the dishes felt a little different and more original (which can be hard to do with traditional breakfast foods). Service was friendly and I didn't feel rushed to finish my meal. This was one of the better meals we ate during our stay in NYC and I'm pretty sure we will be back. The space itself is lovely, really charming and open with a clear view of the busy kitchen and the super cool wood-burning pizza oven. It's a classy joint with prices to match, but it is truly fine dining. As someone mentioned before, they do really push you to buy water at the outset. That was a bit annoying. The host was like "Something sparkling like your eyes?" I bet that works on some ladies, mister, but really it just annoyed me. I don't like to be pandered to. Anyway.... Our waitress was very sweet. There were moments when she was less attentive than I'd have liked, and she brought me the wrong cocktail accidentally. But overall she provided very good service and thoughtfully answered our many questions. We ordered: -The softshell crab appetizer (a special for that day, my husband liked it, soft shells are not my thing) -The tuna crudo appetizer - excellent, would eat again -The scallops - very good and just a tiny hint of spice that was good even for a spice wuss like me. Food/Drinks: Today happened to be a good day, so our group decided to get food that could feed us for days. We started off with drinks: Mimosas and an Espresso Martini. The Mimosa hit the spot given how humid it was outside that day, and the Espresso Martini had the right amount of bitterness from the Tito's as it did with the sweetness of the actual mixes. The first plate for the table was the Mozzarella Di Bufala Pizza which had this beautiful char and crisp to its crust. The tomato sauce-to-cheese ratio was also perfect and tasted absolutely amazing. We then ordered a Harry's Strawberries' French Toast, Cotechino Hash & Poached Eggs, and a Pipe Rigate. The three dishes were absolutely amazing. The French Toast was light and airy, which paired well with the sweetness of the whipped cream and strawberries. The Hash was cooked nicely and came with a nice salad. The Pasta was nice and savory and had a good amount of meat to carbs ratio. For a little palette cleanse, we then ordered a Non-Classico Spritz which was nice and strong, and a Cappuccino for a little sweet touch. For dessert, we ordered an array of dishes to try out: Vanilla Panna Cotta, Tiramisu, Pistachio-Orange Marmalade Gelati, and a Straccia Tella Gelati. First of all, the Gelatos were phenomenal. Never did we think Pistachio with Orange Marmalade would be such an amazing combination. The Straccia Tella was also incredibly creamy and had a nice balance of sweet and bitter. We could not get enough of the gelatos! The Tiramisu was light, and the lady's fingers were incredibly soft. The Panna Cotta was also incredibly light and the strawberries fit it perfectly. Although our bill racked up, it was most definitely worth it! Service: Our server Andy was absolutely amazing. He made sure to check up on us often and did anything to accommodate our needs. He was well knowledgeable on the menu and was able to tell us anything about any of the items. We also asked for his recommendation when it came to the desserts and he did an amazing job at providing us with his best recommendations because everything he recommended turned out to be amazing. He was overall super kind, and we absolutely love him! Ambiance: The actual place was beautiful inside and out. The interior had a lot of darker and warmer colors and more woodwork, while the exterior area had cooler and lighter colors with more stone/metal details. I loved the contrast between the two sides and thought it was fantastic. The lounge/waiting area was also very beautiful and had a sophisticated vibe to it which I always enjoy. One of the worst brunch experiences of my adult life. Multiple people asked us about water options, but none could take a drink order saying our server would be with us - ok, cool - thank you. A person came to take our drink order - my husband ordered "coffee" and was told "We have a barista - did you mean Americano?" It was unnecessarily snotty. After another person delivered our drinks a woman came up to the table, this is now the fifth person to approach - evidently to take our order, and offended when asked if she was our actual server. She mumbled - it's rather loud with tile floors, glass and an open kitchen - so I couldn't hear her. When I asked her to repeat, she mumbled again. I said "I'm sorry, I can't hear you" and she literally screamed at us "do you want sides for the table...?" Our food sat on the line for a while - arrived lukewarm, and the pecorino in the eggs was so overwhelming it was inedible. Nobody checked on us even though there was clearly a problem with our meal - we sat for another 15 minutes (25 in total since served) and a bus person, who was the nicest of all interactions, took our still full plates. The waitress returned ten minutes later and we told her how bad it was - she said a manager would come by - no manager ever did. I always stay at the adjacent hotel and have eaten here many times, and while the service can be on the snooty side, it's never been this horrendous. I will not be back - For reference, we come down to the "City" monthly, our son lives here, and we hallways stay in the hotel directly next door (which is not actually affiliated with said Hotel...) It's super snooty and pretentious/rude for zero reason - skip it! read more

I've come here a few times. They do have reservations and it's recommended that you make them since they get full very quickly. It's a cute space and looks chic and trendy. They mostly have smaller tables and they seat your fairly quickly. Food comes out at an average time but the drinks take a little long. Asking the wait staff for their recommendations can be hit or miss. The food is good - I prefer the main courses to the appetizers here. The inside is incredibly beautiful although dimly lit I could see there space sectioned off by glass and different rooms. Never even heard of the place and I wish that I knew the name of the waiter (maybe Nathan or Nathaniel idk) who definitely proved my company wrong when they were able to procure pasta and red sauce which I apparently needed that night. Everyone always argues that you have to eat exactly what's on the menu and sometimes when you are not rude about it you get lucky. They had the fresh parm that they put on top and sadly. That's all I can remember. It was just one of those nights. The bathroom had these cool sculptures of hands and idk how I never heard of this place. Because it beautiful and the service is 5 stars and the food was AHHHMAZING! We had grilled octopus- beautiful, flavorful, the perfect char- Some kind of pizza that I did not partake in - The pasta was exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it- The crisp wine and lots of water. Upon entering, it's impossible to miss the two impressive, twin copper-clad wood-burning ovens set into the back wall of this beautiful restaurant. We ordered the kale salad, three types of pizzas, and the swordfish. The kale salad was excellent, the pizzas were excellent, and the swordfish dish didn't disappoint. Located in the Eventi Kimpton Hotel this ambient rich restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. We've eaten here several times, most recently in the outside, enclosed dining area that has been added since Covid. In general there is a good selection of small plates, bruschetta was excellent. Pizzas are thin crust, Naples style fire oven baked- delicious! There are mains which will appeal to most and they will make changes to items due to allergies or preferences if the recipe allows. You might need to look up some of the names they call their dishes- like Cavolo Nero - black cabbage, for example! Not to be confused with cavalo Nero, which is a black horse! Contorni we had roasted Brussel sprouts and the cauliflower- also excellent. For dessert we shared Sicilian torte which was a little too dense for my taste but the fresh gelato with it was great. Both the bar and restaurant were bustling on a Thursday evening but we only walked about 15 minutes without a reservation. Service was a bit slow throughout the meal except for the super aggressive sommelier who appeared as soon as we sat down with a 50-page wine list! We opted for wine by the glass from the menu instead and were pleased with the options . We shared an app, a pasta primo and tried 2 desserts and espresso. I was told I will be charged for the extra onions. I spoke to the assistant manager, Matt. I was told by Matt , "that I get one onion and I will be happy with the one onion". The drink is $18, and the glasses are half the size of a normal martini glass.... And they want to charge me for an extra cocktail onion? Came here for lunch on a weekday and it was surprisingly quite packed. We made a reservation, but I would imagine having to wait for a table if you get here around noon on a weekday. Started the meal off with a few appetizers: The arancinis were excellent when fresh - so crispy on the outside, melty, and hot on the inside. We also tried the veal and mortadella meatballs which I thought were good, but not outstanding. We ordered the mozarella di bufala pizza which was also good, but the arancinis were the star of the apps for me! For my entree, I could've sworn I had something like a ravioli alla vongole but I can't seem to find it anywhere online! It was pretty much a potato ravioli dish with clams. I thought the ravioli was really good and the clams were fresh but the sauce was too salty. I would like to think I enjoyed it, but would probably try something else next time. I'd say my experience at L'Amico was pretty good overall food-wise! However, there was a waiter that could use a little more communication. We asked him to pack an order to go since one of us was running late for a meeting. He left without saying or gesturing anything and only later came back with the food packed. Crab crostini, citrus salad with thin sliced fennel, seasonal salad of winter greens and grapefruit, pizza w mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes, stuffed branzino, roasted cauliflower. Probably more trendy than Italian, I've been meaning to check out L'Amico for some time. It is also part of the Eventi boutique hotel which I happen to like. The ambience was rustic and cozy. Since it was prime lunch time, it was also quite crowded. A few brunch items were part of the daily specials, but just wanting a quick and light bite, we shared the Mushroom Arancini and the Classic Burrata Pizza. Keep in mind, portions and prices always reflect hotel traditions. The mushroom arancini were $16 for just 3 but for an additional charge, we were informed we could order 4 enabling us to have 2 each. They arrived perfectly shaped and delicious sitting on a light coat of truffle sauce. They were deep fried but not oily. All vegetarian, this appetizer was a home run. The pizza took some time to be brought to the table and with the gas/wood oven in full view, pizza seemed to be ordered by many. Ours at $22, was a smallish pie of 4 slices with a unique dough texture and delicious sauce/cheese combo. There were a few other styles of pizza on the menu and I'd like to keep the truffle in mind for a future visit. Overall, I was content with my experience and light meal at L'Amico. Other entrees (such as salads and Eggs Benedict) being brought to other tables looked fantastic. Service was very good, atmosphere, quite charming and food was excellent. I'm returning! read more

I dined here on 10/5/24 - a beautiful Saturday with temps in the mid-70s. I had just arrived in the city and was hungry; it was close to Noon on a Saturday and I knew it would be hard to get a table anywhere. The staff kindly accommodated me. Service by all the staff I encountered was very good. I had the OMELETTE SOUFFLE CACIO E PEPE - honestly, the photo doesn't do it justice, because it was SO TALL. The eggs were well cooked and there was so much flavor. The omelette came with some lightly dressed greens - just enough for a different taste. I also ordered the Bloody Mary. I wasn't as impressed with that, although I did like that the "heat" is provided with horseradish instead of hot sauce. Unfortunately, there was way too much horseradish. (If I'd wanted cocktail sauce, I'd have asked for shrimp.) Otherwise, I was exceptionally pleased with my meal. For those who criticized the pricing, let me just say that this is NYC. The cost of living in NYC is a lot higher than in many other areas of the U.S. I thought the price was reasonable. read more

Got busier later, so it ended up being more popular than I thought.
