The meats were perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and served in generous portions. As for the macaroni salad? It's hands down the best I've had at any of their locations I've visited. We stopped by Waco on the way to Dallas and wanted to grab a quick lunch. I haven't had Hawaiian in a while and figured we can give this place a try. We got the bbq chicken and kalua pork. Unfortunately, while the food visually looked appetizing, everything ended up being pretty salty. The only thing that was tasty to me was the macaroni salad. I did like how big the portions are for the bowl option, which came with 1 scoop of rice and one scoop of either macaroni salad or veggies. It's too bad you can't swap out the rice for two scoops of macaroni or do a macaroni and veggie combo. read more

We ordered the Barbecue Mixed Plate with the beef, short ribs, and chicken and it was delicious. Hot and flavorful. Meat was tender with a perfect char. Macaroni salad was creamy and tasty though could've used a little more pepper. Ordered a Taro Smoothie with boba. The taro tasted fresh (not artificial like a lot of places) and the boba had a good texture. Music added a nice vibe. There was another party there that was boppin' their heads and singing along with the music while they ate. Colorful and overall cheery atmosphere though the aesthetic could use a little updating. Our party of three shared two large plates for dinner. One plate was Loco Moco with mac & cheese, two easy over eggs, and white rice. The two small hamburger patties were covered with savory brown gravy. The hamburger patties itself were over cooked. Mac & cheese was good. The other plate was Kalua pork with white rice and salad. There was an insane amount of pulled pork and it was seasoned well, very delicious. The salad was fresh and the sesame salad dressing was additive. Both plates costed less than $13, very reasonable. I had visited the Dr. Pepper Museum and wanted a snack before heading up to Dallas. This spot was only a block away and happened to be right in front of where I parked. I decided to get a pair of lumpia and a spam musubi. It was a nice that the spam could be swapped for teriyaki chicken, but I stuck to the original. Rice was soft and held together well with each bite. Spam was nicely toasted on the outside. With the sauce between the two this made a satisfying snack. Lumpia had nice crisp skin and a soft filling with pork, glass noodles and carrots. Thought there could be more flavor to the filling, but the chili sauce was excellent and made the dish. I'd return to try some of their other offerings. Price point was right and there were several promotions to get free food. read more

We have eaten at various L&L Hawaiian BBQ locations across the country, including Hawaii. It is a staple restaurant in our family. The food is always cooked fresh to order and is really so delicious. My only complaint is that the prices are going up and the portion sizes are going down. This is true at all locations, not just this one. That makes it a little less affordable for us to go because we have to order more food to feed our family. But if that doesn't concern you I definitely recommend them. We went out of our way on a recent road trip to avoid eating fast food on the highway. We should've just stopped at Bucc'ees. We ordered a two meat plate (kalbi and kalhua chicken with rice and Mac salad), two loco moco bowls, and a katsu pork plate. The katsu was the only plate worth paying for. The loco mocos were unflavored and came with Normandy vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots, something that we've never had even in Hawaii. My two pieces of kalbi were actually one covering a strip of bone. The Mac salad was warm and the kahlua pork lacked any flavor at all. We decided to take our food to go when we realized they were snaking the plumbing/ septic in the kitchen where food was being prepared. The smell outside of restaurant was of raw sewage. Waco has earned some serious cool points boasting a new L& L location. The flavors and offerings bring me right back to Hawaii. The plates are big enough to split between two people, especially if you plan to treat yourself to a musubi, which I highly recommend! I split an Aloha plate, which came with grilled short rib, beef slices, and chicken, two scoops of rice, and Mac salad. The sauce is perfectly sweet and plentiful that it can be mixed in with the rice. I absolutely loved the fried chicken musubi! It is deep fried in panko crumbs and comes out hot and juicy with rice, sauce, and seaweed. Loved it even more than the regular spam musubi, since it takes a few more steps to make.
